Marvel vs Capcom 2 coming to iOS on April 25 [Update: :( ]

I know port begging is frowned upon here but putting MVC2 on iOS before 3DS or more importantly vita is just fucking stupid.

It's just way to complicated a game to play properly without buttons.

How in the hell is this shit going to work? :lol

Some of the stuff I've seen people pull off mystifies me and they're doing it with traditional inputs. I can't imagine what all touch would be like.

Edit: Oh yeah, that too.... Why is this happening instead of post launch Mahvel 3 support? [/not entirely serious, but come on]

Look at the screenshots. This is being ported by two or three interns at most. It's basically free money.

Also, Capcom have been doing stuff like this in the mobile space way, way before the app store was even conceived.

You've hit a new low Waria.

Still fucking stupid. I'm actually salty because I think mvc2 would look amazing on the vita.

And my Vita gently weeps.

Totally up for this though, I'll leave it on the character select screen for a whole bus journey and see if I get beaten to death.

Apparently it's not fucking stupid because it seems to be the new way of things. Vita & 3DS just can't compete with the lack of certification and the flexibility for pricing / patching etc..

Mahvel Boardroom meeting:

"Hey guyz, We haz this big Movie coming out, lets release all things Marvel!! Yeah!!!"

UMvC3X plz.

Also lol at this. I mean SF was OKAY, but controlling this on an iPhone? Are you fucking crazy? Why would anyone subject themselves to this torture?

Damn. That is so bought.
Will be the first game I've bought for iOS since Angry Birds Space.

Ugh, next week is too far away.

Do they make a version where the screen is horizontal? Although I guess the vertical real estate would be nice for MvC2.

I'M GONNA TAKE YOU FOR A RIDE

Honestly though, I think fighting games on portables are useless without online multiplayer, which I doubt it will have.

honestly, if you have a recognizable IP/game, just make whatever and put it on iPhone. Fuck full playability, as long as it's playable in some way, just release that shit.

also "unleash your ultimate" hurts my brain.

Unfortunately, the "new way of things" is resulting in vastly inferior games. SFIV on iPhone was a god damned travesty of a game that shared virtually nothing with the real game.

There's a reason why the iOS games are so cheap...

Better to stick with MvC3 on Vita if you want an actual fighter.

Real talk though, if it doesn't come with that song it's even more worthless than it already is looking.

How was SF4 for is? Playable?

It was absolutely horrible. I got the first version, and not only it looked choppy and ugly, but performing some special moves was very difficult. I couldn't to a tigger uppercut for fuck's sake. That, and the fact that your fingers are covering parts of the screen made it unplayable.

Not going to argue with that! SF4 was... ....experimental, to put it nicely.

Because that's what the market will bear and people really don't want to pay £40 for a portable game (or £15-£20 for a decade old port as this would surely be on PSN / eShop).

Well, no, I'd be better playing it on my PS3, where my arcade sticks are. As soon as you make a fighter portable, you're already compromising (controls, screen size, online voice chat). This just compromises even further and makes the pricetag appealing low to counter that.

Vita actually features one of the finest d-pads ever made so MvC3 feels pretty good on there. I agree that portable fighters aren't the best idea, but if you're going to do it, MvC3 Vita is THE way to do so. It's light years beyond the iOS attempts.

It looks like this and runs at a low framerate.

Touch controls are only part of the problem.

When people say 'playable' are you saying 'yes, you can move a character but tha's it'? Because SFIV is absolutely atrocious to control. I'm not even a hardcore beat em fan so I'm not looking down on it for it's simplified controls. It simple doesn't work
