I rest my case.

I think I would define the tiers this way:

A: These are easily recognizable by anyone--fan or not. These are guys like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, Iron Man, etc. Even just their symbols or parodies of them are easy for anyone to recognize.

B: Fans would easily recognize them, but non-fans may or may not, and they definitely wouldn't think of them first when thinking about characters. Green Lantern, Flash, Green Arrow, Black Panther (for now), Thor, and whatnot.

C: Casuals would not recognize them. Fans probably would, but it's not assured. Quicksilver, Mysterio, Atrocitus, Booster Gold, Lady Shiva, and such.

D: Even fans might not recognize or remember them. Kite Man, Sauron, Dr. Bong, Cyclops, and so on.

F: Only Slayven knows them. I don't have any examples because I'm not Slayven.

I'd say Flash is definitely A tier.
Maybe a low A but definitely an A.
I think Arrow has probably elevated Green Arrow from a high C to medium B(which is funny because Arrow version is just straight Batman ripoff majority of the time)

Howard the Duck had a theatrically-released film that many people are aware of. People who have never read a comic book have heard of him. He's not D-list.

The Green Lantern Corps of the 80s and 90s had a wide cast of cool minor characters. Ch'p etc. Max Mercury and Johnny Swift are righteous as well.

That being said, the Fallen Angels and New Mutants were cool. But many of them became solid B listers.

Marvel and DC's lower tiers make their universes for me. Mary zero, faiza Hussein and pete wisdom are all fantastic characters, on the DC side there's son of vulcan, Traci 13(and dr thirteen for that matter) and my boy dr midnite.

Hmm. That's a tough call.

Each side has some big teams with plenty of C/D list heroes.
Legion of Superheroes, JSA vs Avengers, X-Men. Huge edge goes to Marvel. There's a lot more franchises from Marvel that could probably be considered C list as well. Defenders, New Warriors, Invaders, Thunderbolts, all the cosmic stuff. DC also has Teen Titans and Young Justice, but by sheer volume and sales success I'm giving the hero edge to Marvel.

Both also have some minor villain teams that got a push.
Suicide Squad vs Superior Foes. Gotta give that edge to DC. I've also had a preference for the regular DC villains that could mostly be considered C listers. The Batman franchise alone has awesome villains.

Overall throughout history Marvel has a ton of franchises with so many interesting minor characters so I'd have to vote for Marvel, but DC gets honorable mention for their fine cast of villains.

U dunno, some of these fuckers are nearing F Class. Are Captain Britain and Guardian C-List?

Guardian is F-list. 100%. The most notable thing dude has ever done is get cloned for the YJ pilot.

Captain Britain got his own line for like 15 years, dude's almost A-list.

Cap Britain was on Excalibur. That alone should boost him into high tiers. Not above his sister, but up there.

Speaking even as someone who always liked Excalibur for the sake of Kitty Pryde: Excalibur is by no means B-Tier. C-Tier almost seems generous. Their most recognizable member (Kitty) is an X-Man most people probably can't even name unless they saw very specific versions in pop culture (X-Men: Evolution or Days of Future Past).

And then he actually got put into the show. He had his own character arc that actually got focused screen time all the way through S2.

Justice Society and Legion alone put DC way ahead of Marvel. That's before throwing in Animal Man, the Doom Patrol, Shade, Zatana, The Question, Booster Gold, etc just among characters who can star in books. Once you start throwing in characters like Kole, Flash's Rogues gallery, Max Mercury, Catman, Deadshot, Metamorpho, Elongated Man, Duela Dent, the Gotham Central cast, Arisa, Kilowog, Salaak, Tempest, Ms. Martian, Jericho, Blue Devil, and honestly thousands of others.

Marvel has a decent stable of C/D list characters, but they can't match the sheer amount of quality characters that DC has in that department.

DC C/D listers versus Marvel B listers would be a fair fight.

I love Batman: Brave and the Bold for introducing me to Bwana Beast

latest

B'wana Beast possesses great strength, speed, hand-to-hand combat and hunting and tracking abilities. He also has the ability to communicate with animals. He also has the ability to merge two animals together to form a chimera or (how he puts it) he merges the best of two different things to create an unstoppable force. He can merge up to four things together which can include a human, but this requires great concentration. He can also undo the merge if the need arises. For the most part, once these animals are merged, B'wana is able to acquire their aid in situations of need. Whether this is due to his ability to communicate with them or an instinct on their part is not known.

Shocker is like the king of c listers that I consider him a B lister.

Dude will even appear on the new Spidey movie ! That is the ultimate list upgrader

Shocker will always be A-list in my heart.

Shocker is always an A lister in my heart. You can't help but love the guy. And even if the costume looks like an oven mitt, I still adore it.

The greatest thing about all the TV shows and movies coming is they are digging into the C and D tier characters. Even if some are just throwaway characters, at least I got to see Batroc and King Shark in live action.
