Marvel's Civil War 2 teases death, pick a side

Would've maybe been excited for this, but not with Bendis as the writer.

Has he ever written a good event book?

Is there a reason why the X-men from the past haven't been sent back to their own time? Why hasn't there been a fallout of them still being in the present?

The O5 haven't been sent back because Jean was upset about it, and everyone loves Jean. There hasn't been fallout because of bad writing.

non-detailed spoilers:

older cyclops is dead
cyclop's school is gone
all new x-men from the past are doing their own thing sans past Jean
terrigen mist that spread throughout the world made mutants sterile
storm leads the current x-men team and Jean is with them
Old Man Logan is in the present somehow
All-New Wolverine, Idie and Evan (En Sabah Nur's younger clone) is with the All-New X-Men

edit: beaten

The whole "no more mutants, now inhumans" thing is what made me stop reading X-men.

The story opens with Rhodey and Captain Marvel kissing. They are dating again, because War Machine's death has to be emotional for any of this to make sense (It still doesn't). The Inhuman Ulysses then shows up. Through painful exposition we are told he can see the future. Ulysses sees Thanos visiting Earth. Knowing he can see the future, Captain Marvel arranges for just a few heroes to fight the Mad Titan, because it's not like he's ever defeated the entirety of the Marvel Universe before.

In an awkward cut to the middle of nowhere, Thanos appears with three Liefeldian guns. The five or six heroes ambush, and, I kid you not, Captain Marvel declares, "Thanos, you are under arrest!" As you know, Captain Marvel is a stickler for the American judicial system when the entirety of the galaxy is regularly threatened by an estraterrestrial nihilistic pyschopath.

The heroes fight and one stray missile from War Machine hits She Hulk. ONE! She-Hulk's last words? "Son of a-" Yep. She-Hulk goes down making Red Foreman proud. OK, she's not quite dead yet, but close enough to trust know the rumors are fairly accurate. It's the perfect sequel to "not like this." In shock that he may have killed She-Hulk, War Machine stands, mouth agape. Thanos then runs a hand through the armor, something that he is apparently capable of but has never done before.

lmao. It can't actually be this bad can it?

Goddamn I hate Bendis. Please everyone let this tank so he can stay on Iron Douche and that miles borales and stop screwing up event books.

To be fair to Bendis, even genuinely great writers have been shitting the bed when it comes to large Marvel events for quite a while now.

Secret Wars, Spider-Verse and Standoff (from what I hear) are only now establishing a new trend.

Remember Axis? Original Sin? AvX? Fear Itself? Battle of the Atom?

Some of these were penned by good writers, yet they were all ass.

Half those shit events were Bendis events.

Spider-Verse was pretty terrible. You would think a family of interdimensional steampunk energy vampires would be cool. But they were all pretty much one dimensional bores.

A smaller cast of villains, a smaller cast of heroes instead of trying to fit "EVERY SPIDER-MAN EVER!!!", and a more focused plot could have made it worth something. Maybe...

(Secret Wars 2015 wasn't bad, except for the delays. And Standoff has been pretty decent so far.)

with the title civil war 2 and bendis at the helm, i dont know what you guys expected

Is not worse than Millar really too much to ask?

not worse than millar isnt asking for good or decent though

i mean if that spoiler is true, thats incredibly stupid. to the point that the heroes would have been better off without the plot twist

Fear Itself was Matt Fraction :P

And Spider-Verse being good is debatable.

I really dislike Bendis' team books.

People forget when Bendis had the Mighty(?) Avengers bust into Latveria, beat up Dr Doom and arrest him for crimes against the US while he was foaming at the mouth and calling Carol Danvers Ms Marvel a stupid fat cow.

He doesn't give a shit.

I LOATHE his team books. Often it is difficult to tell where one character ends and another begins.

And yeah, you are right, Fraction did write fear itself. Not sure why I thought Brubaker was responsible.

Maybe you were thinking of Secret Avengers.

I think Remender could have delivered a great crossover event back in 2011 or so, but he was clearly burnt out at Marvel by the time we got Axis. Those last few months from him sort of felt like him killing the remainder of his exclusivity contract Sam Raimi from Spider-man 3 style.

Fucking Bendis... Another Civil War, another Black hero coming down with a case of "Hole in the chest". lol@ him trying to act like it didn't leak.
