My wife and I won't survive a second lockdown. We're going to lose our house now. Suicide might be the best option.

Have you talked to your mortgage company? I read a lot of them are working with people who are hitting hard times due to the virus. I know on my payment page it says I can contact them if I need to work out something for payments. (wells fargo)

Yea and everyone who did that will be in WORSE shape in a few months. They just delay your payments. You still have to pay it eventually, and if you're not working and can't get any income; you can't do that. So all those people who got delayed payments will be going homeless too because they won't be able to pay back months of rent or payments.

Oh that's a shitty way of doing it. I thought when they delayed your payment it would just tack it on to the very end of your mortgage rather then just push it off a few months :(

And if they did that, they would just make you make 30-whatever years of interest on it.

It's incredible how no matter what happens the banks always get made whole.

I'm not sure how others feel, but there is barely any talk about how folks can actually get themselves out of a risk group in the first place. Why is that? There have been some scattered articles here or there, but why don't folks focus equally on quitting smoking, eating anti-inflammatory foods, etc.? That seems like such a no-brainer to me, and I don't hear much about that. Is it because folks would rather just blame non-mask wearers instead of taking on responsibility themselves?

And divert precious air time/page traffic away from the sensationalist "junk food" that passes for journalism today?

I do think now is as good a time as any to hammer on that message for healthier lifestyles. It's been a missed opportunity to shape something positive out of the ugliness of this pandemic. Advertising money is probably a factor against it, though - there are some heavyweights that would rather not see their products/services negatively impacted like Coca-Cola and McDonalds to big pharma and their diabetes or cholesterol drugs.

I think Tucker Carlson's show provides a great example (in the US anyway) of how the large corporations will react if you come out too strongly against them or mainstream positions in general. We're not in a healthy place when the media has to tailor its messaging to accommodate their advertisers or risk disappearing, pun intended.

Wonder if they are starting to set us up for another shut down here in PA.

My town had one new case in the last week...

There would be a legit rebellion if they pulled that shit in many parts of PA.

The state is averaging 20 deaths a day for its 7 day average and has been for the entire reopening.

Masks compulsory in UK shops from 24th July.

Thankfully the virus doesn't visit gyms, offices, pubs, warehouses, parks, or indoor malls. Only individual shops.

Stupid BLM rioters fucking everything up.
But you also said it’s mostly blue states that have the heavy rioting going on and red states are handling them better. Which one is it? You loved to point out how badly blue states were handling the pandemic but now find excuses for red states? I’m not following

This conspiracy theory makes perfect sense.

If only California hadn't shut down, they totally would have voted for Trump in November.

Also nothing Democrats love more than completely gutting all of their budgets due to not bringing in anywhere near as much in taxes.

Brilliant deductions.

In CA it's about congressional seats in Southern California. Newsom is Pelosi's nephew. He wants to help his aunt remain speaker of the house. The longer he keeps the state in lockdown, the longer the Republican congressional challengers can't campaign.

LOL... which of the races was worth tanking their entire economy, causing budget woes for years, massively disrupting their tax base?

Like get specific here guy, surely with such a thought out conspiracy you could start naming some districts here that were being hotly contested? And why in the world wouldn't this effect Democrats attempting to campaign?

Blue cities within Red states. Miami, Houston they have Blue mayors.

Clubs/bars play a role, but the non stop rioting/protesting that everyone was bullied into not doing anything about or else your racist is whats leading the charge.

Abbott is trying to get things under control, but DeSantis is acting slow. Deaths are still not anywhere near what the Dems did.

Reality is Dems failed the Flatten the curve, they expanded it and let the virus run wild and kill 10's of thousands. Sure FL/TX are getting hit now, but thats because they actually did flatten the curve and now there is more PPE, FEMA, drugs, and understanding of the virus so the mortality rate is much lower.

Flatten the curve was about spreading out the deaths so the hospital system could prepare and be able to handle it, it wasn't about exterminating the virus. The point of the 15 and 45 days was so places could be ready for outbreaks and treatments.

Places like Jersey, Cali, NY still get up there in the deaths. Heck NYC has more deaths than Florida today. Ebbs and flows.

In the end American people don't want lock downs. Left go out and protest/riot, Right wanna go work. And normal people just want to hang with friends or go get smashed somewhere.

You guys have probably been discussing this already (I've been trying to ignore the virus news lately), so please correct me if I'm wrong.. But today I randomly read about the new research that says the virus is giving only a couple/few months worth of immunity at best. So in theory there's nothing to stop the virus from continuously get into and infect the same people over and over again until.. yeah.. Even with a low single infection death-rate accumulation can drive Covid-19 to be much deadlier in the end than people expect. Also, the virus is really good at destroying T-cells.. Furthermore, globally the number of people being infected has never been higher, and is rapidly growing. I don't like the sound of any of this. Fuck me for caving in, my life felt much nicer when I managed to ignore all of this stuff.

Don’t buy into all that shit. First of all, the virus doesn’t destroy T cells. Second, the body tends to recognize pathogens it’s come in contact with before more quickly on subsequent reinfections, making any illness from them much more mild. Just calm yourself.

There is too much misinformation to trust any of it nemiroff nemiroff
Mask, no mask. Social distancing, not social distancing. Immunity, no immunity. Survival rates, infection rates, etc etc.
I've decided I will do what I can to protect myself, and leave it at that. I've traveled across the planet in the middle of all this, and I'm ok so far, so I must be doing something right

This is not misinformation but developing knowledge on a new virus. Ideally scientists would not have communicated anything about covid19 until they had a year or two to fully study it so not to spread 'misinformation' but people demand answers and policy guidelines. So you go with what you have which could change in a week.

We have had 6 to 9 deaths per day for weeks now in Germany.

Everyone is still acting like we are on the edge of extinction here.

It's not all that different in Canada. The world's gone mad and the common thread is the sensationalized fearmongering coming from all our mainstream media sources that too many take at face value.

Maybe I just need to start a fight club.

Also, it looks like herd immunity is probably off the table, since it appears that antibodies don’t last and that re-infection multiple times is possible. That’s devastating, if true.

Re-infection was reported earlier in South Korea and was just poor testing declaring people cured when they were not. And loss of immunity happens to some people for all kinds of diseases. Like the one 90-year old diabetic beating severe covid-19 it's not something you can conclude for the entire population. This needs way more time to be sure.

Vox is making mad bux from their 'we're all doomed' headline though.

In comparing Canada to the US you can see that the „fearmongering“ paid off and saved thousands of lives. Weekend dip is over. Today US death toll will increase by more than 1000.

This is just media equating meassurable antibodies with immunity. There is a new british study (not published and peer reviewed yet) that concludes that the meassurable immunity dissapears quite fast. This only means our tests for immunity are bad.

Here in Sweden numbers are pretty much falling constantly. The antibody test however in Stockholm kept staying at similar levels for weeks and people came to the conclusion this meant immunity in the population was hardly increasing. This is probably the wrong take though since what was actually meassured was the number of people currently having enough antibodies to pass the test. Some of the ones tested positive for antibodies weeks earlier could still be immune but not test positive.

There's no evidence of that and no excuse for it. It's a deceptive practice used to coerce people into believing or doing something they otherwise wouldn't because they're no longer thinking straight, emotions clouding their judgement. For all we know the panic made the situation worse rather than better, our long term care facility deaths making up about 80% of the total, twice the average of other countries.

So just heard on the radio that face masks will be compulsory in shops in England from 24 July. People could face a £100 fine if they refuse to comply.

The fact that it's only shops makes it look quite pathetic.

Like the virus only exists in ASDA. It's perfectly fine to socialise without a mask everywhere else.
