What would be a better way to spec the AIU:
  • Repair Matrix - Survivability/Shields Restored Pre nerf I would have said survivability, but post nerf the shield restoration rate with survivability is just too low.
  • Unshackled AI - Weapon Damage/Damage & Capacity, Pistols & Shotguns/Weapons Damage Weapon Damage all the way paired up with a shotgun and cloak damage bonuses. Repair matrix is good enough for me to keep me alive/bring me back most of the time and I've been avoiding doing frequent melee post melee/matrix nerf.
  • Fitness Module - Melee Synergy/Fitness Expert I've been skipping all points in fitness and just going with Snap Freeze instead.

I've gone with the power, weight and shields route, but I wonder if it would be more effective with more weapon damage. And I also wondered whether power damage increased cloak/shotty damage.
As for power damage increasing cloak damage, my understanding is power damage buffs only apply to powers that directly inflict damage like snap freeze. With cloak your using your weapon to inflict the damage so it gets no buff from power bonuses.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll reset the stats, and try the weapon damage build. Is Snap Freeze really that effective, that it's advisable to choose that over Fitness, especially after the Repair Matrix was nerfed?

I'm a bit worried how much concentrating on weapon damage affects the recharge speed of the cloak. BTW, Charge Capacity or Duration for Repair Matrix? I used to go with the latter before the nerf, but I dunno if the change had any effect on the duration.

Power damage buffs also increase defensive powers like the group restore shield power from the Volus (that i forgot the name) i believe.

I like the stagger effect of Snap Freeze, it can come in handy when you're about to get overrun. Pair it up with someone using a flamethrower or some other tech and you'll constantly be doing explosions.

As for capacity or duration, pre nerf I used to go with capacity so I could always have it pretty much on but post nerf they halved the duration so I choose that now and tend to save it for when I'm getting blasted.

Fitness: Melee Synergy adds 25% weapon damage bonus BTW, so would that be essential for weapon damage based build?
I haven't tried a build with it yet, but the one I'm using (everything else in damage + snap freeze with armor weaken) kills everything in Gold pretty fast.

I'm not really seeing the extra shotgun damage when coming out of Tactical Cloak with the AIU. Mind you my shotguns are terrible right now but I maxed TC out for damage and have been testing it out on Brutes, silver. So you cloak, get in range, and unleash, right? I see a little extra damage but not enough to warrant the effort. I'm using Disciple shotgun which is my best right now

Sigh.....that guy....they kill silver+ mp....

Played with a buddy yesterday. He was trying to complete his silver banner. We had 2 others for the reapers, collectors, and Geth....then they had to roll. But that's okay because we only had Cerabus left right? Right?

Nah...we got 2 guys who decided that reviving, getting objectives done, and general team play are not necessary.

Between low level guys trying to get an easy banner and shitty jugs this game makes silver 3x harder than it should be at times.

If your guns are weak you won't see much of a buff from it. Pair it up with a strong gun and a fast cooldown and you'll be tearing things left and right.

I think I'll try the weapon build with full fitness, but I might try switching the fitness to Snap Freeze later on. Although I'm somewhat uncertain whether it's worth it, especially if it depends on squad mates' powers.

I might try Gold with AIU tonight, as I've now maxed the character by playing on Silver.

When I played on Silver with the character, I could kill Phantoms with a single Reegar III clip. Dunno if the nerf affected the weapon damage, as I haven't played in a while, but even without the full weapon damage the cloak/shotty combo seemed really effective. Claymore should be effective as well, but I like using Reegar more due to its more forgiving nature when it comes to aiming.

I thought the Lone Wolf challenge would be hard to get, but Geth/Glacier/Gold with a Krogan vanguard specced with maximum damage reduction with Barrier and extra shield/health with Fitness, weight reduction skills so i can spam Biotic Charge as much as needed, a Reegar X with the right mods, incendiary ammo IV and shield mods make this all quite easy. The only problem are the "hack 4 objects" objective if enemies are too close, but by kiting them far away or simply using missiles, it's not that much of a problem. :p

Now getting "Best of the best" banner is simply a matter of time.... and with the hundreds of waves that i still need to do specific characters, i guess this is going to take a while, even with Bronze games. Man, i should have started doing this sooner.

Use a Reegar.
Or any efficient gun, just not that one.

Also, I wish they would fix her Fire Explosion via ammo only on you vs the target.

I was checking out the description for fitness and I remember why I didn't bother with it, the weapon damage buff only kicks in for 20 seconds after a heavy melee kill. I tend to cloak in and out with the AIU and rarely bother doing melee if it's not an over cover grab so I didn't think it was worth it.

Do post your results after you try it out, I'm interested to read how it works out for you.

3 platinum games tonight. 3 extractions. got 6 cyclonic modulator ivs. so annoying.

using the AIU with disciple is terrible. use it with the crusader, claymore or reeger.

thats pretty shitty advice and its been covered in this thread 1000x.

recruit pax. veteran pax. spectre then either psp or arsenal depending on what you need. max out the first before going on to the more expensive pax.

Damnit! Err.. how would I know when I'm "maxed" out on the recruit packs? Is there a counter or does it just stop giving you stuff. I already have too many like useless single-match consumables lying around.

500k more credits later, and I get one UR drop: Punisher II.

And I don't like that weapon... :(

I guess it doesn't matter if I bank a few hundred thousand at a time, or just buy the 99k packs as soon as I can. If there's a "trick" to getting URs more frequently, I'm missing it.

I noticed that as well as I re-specced her. It was worded differently in the MP Class Builder.
KRjJQ5j.jpg

So, I wonder if they got it wrong or not. I chose to put the points on Fitness Expert nonetheless.

Just played few Gold rounds with weapon damage based specs, and the build works very well. So thanks again for the suggestions. Although, without weight reduction, she needs Power Efficiency Module or something similar to increase the cloak recharge speed.

The only negative side with Reegar is that it holds so little ammo, even with Barrage Upgrade (etc). So you need to constantly fetch for more ammo, which isn't that big of a problem as you're moving across the map anyway. However, I encountered a problem in Dagger few minutes ago, where the ammo boxes sometimes gave me nothing, and as a result there were a couple of rather tight spots. Luckily I had Hurricane with me just in case.
I'd like to equip her with Shock Trooper Upgrade for more shotty damage and increase in Repair Matrix supply, but that would mean even less ammo for the Reegar.

EDIT: Got the Volus Protector finally. I guess he's more of a supporting character due to the shield boost he gives. Can't wait to try out the Volus torpedo.

I like pulling ultra rares as much as anyone, but I'd be pretty happy with 6 cyclonic IVs! Haven't been able to play because my internet has been acting up, but hopefully it will be fixed tomorrow.

Just finished a couple of Gold/Cerberus/Glacier matches with the AIU, and that map has never went so smooth as it did with the two GIs in the team, with Harrier IX and Piranha X equipped. Both of them got over 110k points, whereas I got about half of that. One of them changed for AIU and Reegar X during the second round, and again got the same amount of points. I noticed he used Snap Freeze, so I might have to try that build some time.

It's refreshing to play with veteran players when the rare chance occurs, but it can be hard to keep at their pace. The first couple of waves went so fast that I barely got a kill or two.

Don't forget. The Krogan heavy melee has a very large damage reduction associated with the animation. When charging into a big group an immediate heavy melee can be quite helpful. Probably already know all this, but if it helps!
I did not, this advice helped a lot! My first try took 57 minutes (took a SMG for cooldown/power damage. Poor choice) my second with a Wraith X only took 34 minutes. Got lucky on objectives, 2 escorts and a download. I was way too tentative my first try, charge-melee-charge was a lot more effective.

I love doing silver solo, it just a lot of fun. N7 Sentinel with power amplifier IV and the 30% extra power damage with SMG amp is just a monster. Explosions everywhere. I'm getting to the point where I just get annoyed playing with randoms...fucking up spawns and dying in terrible positions. I'd rather play alone

What's the fastest way to get lvls? I'm trying to get the challenge that require 60 promotions, but i just hate having to relvl all my classes so much. Thought i heard that spamming Recruit packs might help since they often(always?) have a common character card with free XP? I guess it could also help getting more consumables, i hate having only 50-60 medigels when all my other items are near or over 100.

I can symphatize with that, but there are also those who play it just for fun, instead of making it some kind of a sport, or worse, a routine. Hell, even after 564 matches I can still fuck up from time to time. I've never bothered to memorize the spawns, as I think it would kinda strip the fun away from the game.

That being said, the Gold/Cerberus/White match yesterday was laughable. I entered the match when the first wave had already started. There were two guys, of which one was also AIU. It was unbeliavable how they both managed to get killed several times during the first wave. The match ended abruptly during the 6th wave's escort mission, as I and the 4th player, who joined later, couldn't carry it through by ourselves. It all came clear when I came to the lobby; one of the two had his/hers character at level 5, and had a single digit N7 rating. Why the hell would anyone play Gold at that low level? Unless (s)he had the level at random. Even Silver seemed hard for me, when I was taking my first steps.

are you kidding? That's the whole reason I play, hence going solo. Playing a Collector gold game on Giant where everyone wants to stand in the middle of the map or Hydra where people stand out in plain sight and get attacked from all sides isn't fun. Knowing the spawns just helps you avoid trouble. If I was trying to burn through things as fast as possible for credits I wouldn't be playing silver, you know? I guess what i was trying to say is playing the multiplayer like its single player made the game fun for me again. lol

When Geth/Gold/White was still a thing, that is all we (and a lot of other people) ever played. I got so burned out on it. Platinum mixed it up a little, but after too long the routine killed it for me. The last dlc got me playing again, mixing it up with solo games has kept me around. I really recommend it, or just doing 2 people on a gold. That's a blast as well

No, I'm not. I've personally never understood the Geth/Gold/White thing, as it certainly didn't seem like fun to me when repeated a few times. I'm not surprised people got tired of it. I play for fun, not for hoarding. Although getting credits for the equipment packs is an essential part of it, but I just don't see it as the main reason to play. BTW, it's disappointing that certain maps seem to never come around on Gold, like Rio, Hydra and Condor. I'm getting tired of playing the Dagger, Giant, White, Glacier, Ghost and London most of the time.

Of course I've learned the certain spawn points during the year I've played, but memorizing their likely order has never occurred to me. Which isn't that essential either, as using the PS3 headset gives me an idea from where the enemy is coming from.

Playing with veterans can be fun, but I like to play with regulars and rookies as well, as those matches tend to be more challenging. Not to mention, that I can contribute more for the team, when the other players aren't killing everything before I even have the chance to participate. Although during the later waves on Gold, it tends to level a bit so that every member of the team is needed. And I do hate rookies who go solo during objectives, and end up getting killed on the other side of the map.

I also like to play on Silver from time to time, but pretty rarily recently. Mostly when I have to level up a class.

I'm thinking about trying solo Gold, but I'm not sure whether I'm good enough for it, as solo Silver/Geth/Hydra seemed quite challenging for me and my Kroguard during certain objectives. Any advise on what class, faction and map would be the easiest? I've usually gone with the Geth, as they're pretty slow, and don't have insta-kill bosses.

ummm how could you spec an AIU without snapfreeze?

its the whole point of that class. cloak, freeze, shotgun blast. what are you doing without snap freeze?

Worked very well on Gold last night; cloak -> Reegar -> evade if it's a boss -> repeat.

I might try the Snap Freeze build at some point though. Any advise on how to spec her that way?

Skip fitness, spec snap freeze for range/cryo explosion/damage and weakness. Open out of cloak with snap freeze, then shoot.

Thanks. I'll try that, once I get more Reset Powers from the equipment packs.

With the weapon damage based build, I can kill a Phantom, Dragoon and Nemesis with Reegar III/shotty amp III/Warp ammo III on Gold with a single clip (Nemesis doesn't even need the cloak damage for that), if I can get a good shot and don't lose the aim while they're moving. Which happens quite often, and which is why I prefer the Reegar's forgiving nature when it comes to aiming. Brute and Atlas take pretty much the same as with your build. So, it makes me wonder whether the Fitness sacrifice is worth it.

BTW, which is the best ammo for her? I've used Warp just because I've got the largest supply of them, as I haven't really used biotic classes for a while, and its damage increase is bigger than that of armour piercing ammo's; 35% vs. 25% IIRC.

Do you spec for the bonus power, or does the bonus damage persist even if you snap freeze out of clock?
Bonus damage persists for a short time after cloak.

These days I like playing with randoms because of that extra challenge.

Hey guys - so yes the servers and challenge systems will keep running as long as we can keep them up but there will no longer be any organized weekend events.
This is the end.

You know, I tried the Claymore, and while it was certainly good, I wasn't quite feeling it. I used it really well with my GI ages ago but for some reason, I couldn't get in the same flow with my AIU. I'm using the Raider now, which has an extra shot for breathing room and a faster reload, which makes things a lot more comfortable.

This sucks for those who started multiplayer too late. They won't be able to get the challenges that ask to complete a number of operations, and getting "Best of the Best" banner will be impossible for them. Unless, it's not a requirement?

Here's hoping they won't shutdown the multiplayer servers anytime soon. Although i guess they still get enough money through microtransactions to not be stupid enough to do it.

The microtransactions still make more than enough money that they'd LOSE money if they shut it down. I am sad about the banners I can't get now :(

If I were Bioware, i would just take this Operations challenge out of the requirements of "Best of the Best" if it was one. It's the right thing to do.

Hm?
There aren't any banners that are permanently locked out by removing the weekend challenges.

AFAIK there are 12 challenges under Squad Elite. Need to complete 8 of the 12; 3 of the 12 are N7 Weekend challenges. Therefore they can still get the BotB banner!

Edit: When I looked at my Challenge page in-game, it says 150% next to Squad Elite haha

Yes, that's what I was referring to. It was originally 10 challenges, then they added two more.

I don't think they'll shut down the servers after a few years like they do for their sports games... the game still brings in money.

If they announce ME4 with multiplayer though...

Yeah, EA sports games playerbase dies after a year or two when everyone switch to the latest Madden or NHL. People will keep playing ME3 until ME4 comes out, which might as well be 2015. Enough time to unlock all ultra rares!
