Mass Effect Andromeda Intiative Orentation Video

"The InitiativeÂ’s ultimate goal is to establish a permanent presence on the seemingly resource-rich frontier of Andromeda, and eventually create a reliable route between it and the Milky Way Galaxy."

Interesting that they're leaving open the possibility of eventual contact between Andromeda and the Milky Way.

Ah, did you think we weren't meeting Super Tricked Out Cosmic Shepard at some point...

4 different arks with their own species inside.

My guess: the arks will be scattered in the beginning of the game and we'll have to explore and gather the races.

Obviously Liara going to show up at the end of the game.

Yeah I was able to log in. Not sure if it does anything though.

If you log in it tells you that once watching the video you've completed step 1 of 6 and the rest will be released later.

It's all fucking trailer shit with some in game unlocks for completing it all.

I guess I wasn't expecting much from the site itself but that is so boring and yay we'll get a piece of armor that gives us like 5% better damage... woohoo.

Really not feeling anything I'm seeing about this today.

I don't think the Nexus is an Ark. It's huge, easily 5+ times the size of the Hyperion. I'm thinking it's supposed to be the Andromeda Citadel, of a sort.

The Pathfinder
Alec Ryder – Human Pathfinder

A seasoned galactic explorer, Alec Ryder was a member of Jon Grissom’s original task force which travelled through the Charon mass relay – the first encountered by humanity – in 2149. Ryder would go on to further prove his mettle by completing N7 training, solidifying himself as one of the Alliance military’s elite. Eventually recruited into the role of Pathfinder for the Andromeda Initiative, Ryder represents the tip of the spear in humanity’s efforts to find a new home in this unknown galaxy.

Environmental conditions
While the Andromeda InitiativeÂ’s long-range scans have identified several potentially-habitable planets in the Heleus cluster, the possibility of encountering harsh planetary conditions during the search for a suitable Golden World exists. The Pathfinder and their team will be responsible for assessing and exploring any environment deemed necessary as the mission unfolds.

Andromeda Initiative
Founded in 2176 and launched in 2185, the Andromeda Initiative is a civilian, multi-species project created to send scientists, explorers and colonists on a one-way trip to settle in the Andromeda Galaxy. With powerful benefactors lending their support, the program has grown substantially in scope since its inception. The InitiativeÂ’s ultimate goal is to establish a permanent presence on the seemingly resource-rich frontier of Andromeda, and eventually create a reliable route between it and the Milky Way Galaxy.

I don't think it'll come up in the span of gameplay for the new trilogy (maaaaybe towards the end), but I would have to imagine this would always be an eventual goal.

Even if the goal is 'just' colonization, eventually, assuming everything works out, you'd grow and expand the species' sphere of influence/power/etc, and make sure the parent galaxy's not effed.

Cool, so the timeline matches up so that I can go with my head canon that the Reapers won at the end of 3 after Shepard shot ghost kid and he got all pissy.

Reaper invasion happened. It starts during the time of Mass Effect 2 and 3.

This was the same year Shepard was resurrected in for Mass Effect 2.
Ah, cool. I hadn't looked at everything on the site. I just assumed Andromeda took place after ME3.

Edit: I'm very curious to know what Bioware makes canon regarding the reapers.

Without actually committing to a date, they might as well show us stuff 4 years away.

If we didn't still have a viable release window I'd agree with you but since this game will likely be out by June of next year at absolute latest I'm not too worried, heh.

Also, that middle-aged fellow in that screenshot upthread... Ryder's father, methinks?

Yup.

That's the date it launched. The game will be 600 years after.

huh? I thought this takes places many many years after the events on ME3?

It takes hundreds of years to get there. It doesn't teleport over night :P

I think June is as realistic as Holiday 2016 was for the last date. I have no reason to think them capable of finishing a project.

It does both!

Andromeda Initiative is founded in the 2170s (before anybody heard of the Reapers), is launched in 2185 (concurrent with or just before ME2), and only ultimately arrives in Andromeda 600 years later because space is Big.

Yeah, I think it's really interesting that the Initiative was not founded as a direct response to the Reapers.
Unless the people in charge knew somehow what was coming to the Milky Way.
