Mass Effect: Andromeda releases Patch 1.05 Thursday, details more changes for future

The game shouldn't have shipped in the state it was in. I'm glad I held off on it at launch and will get to play a better version of it at some point.

The remnant decryption mini game is bullshit. Was their objective to create the most annoying puzzle in the history of gaming?

Improving the appearance of eyes for humans and asari characters
Fixing Ryder's movements when running in a zig zag pattern

Over the next two months we'll be rolling out additional patches which will go even deeper and look to improve several areas of the game:

More options and variety in the character creator
Improvements to hair and general appearance for characters
Ongoing improvements to cinematic scenes and animations

Improvements to male romance options for Scott Ryder

yeah this game was not done. but good on them for trying to improve it.

And though the game is now in your hands, it’s really just the beginning.

Yeah, it's really just the beginning, because you fucked up. Great they are fixing it though. Will get the game a few months down the line when it's cheap. Don't have time to play right now anyway, still busy with BotW.

Good stuff. I'm about 13 hours into the game, and really enjoying the hell out of it, but think I'll put is aside for 2 months and pick it up again this summer after some patches come out.

With so many amazing games out right now, I can wait a little bit.

This is not a good message from EA. Now I know I'll wait months for next releases. ME is one of my favorite series and I was hyped so much for a new one that I went bunker mode. Now I'll wait for it to be dirt cheap.

Why didn't they spend more resources in polishing Andromeda? They risk losing much more in preorders and early buys from next releases...

Glad it's going to be patched and people can play it and have fun.

Allowing you to skip ahead when travelling between planets in the galaxy map

Sweet. Turns a 50 hour game into a 20 with this patch lol.

All sounds good though. Unfortunately, nothing will be able to address the quest design decisions they took from inquisition, which to me is my biggest gripe. That and the lack fo music.

I'm with you about the game stability. I'm 40 hours into it, and haven't experienced anything out of the ordinary for a game that big, at launch. I get the feeling people wouldn't be so vocal about the technical issues if this wasn't a Mass Effect game. The story though...well..

I have theory that people are less forgiving of bugs because they think that this game is ME2 or ME3 20-30 hours sized game and not this large big sized game that people tend to forgive bugs with like Fallout and Witcher.

That seems like a pretty aggressive agenda for future patches, reworking animations and whole story and relationship bits. Sounds like it needed it though. I wonder if they're pushing back DLC plans to free up resources for all these fixes.

I think I'll focus on playing through Horizon and Nier for now, and hope these patches are done by the time I'm ready to check out Andromeda.

Big shout-out to the die hards who bought our totally unfinished game at launch

Love, Bioware

I loved the 60 hours I put into the game so far. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The funny thing about this is that ME2 and 3 weren't bug free at all. My fiance just played through the entire trilogy not too long ago (but definitely after pretty much every patch) and had some pretty nasty freezes and other bugs pop up throughout.

well, there was this a couple of weeks ago:

so at least it definitely wasn't something they just thought of when writing this press release.

Right, I know they mentioned they were looking at it, I'm just waiting to see receipts as to this being a significant improvement versus a few extra lines and an adjusted achievement.

I realize I'm being pessimistic here, but I have friends who were really hurt by how Bioware handled M/M player options and I really hope Bioware understands a few extra scenes with Gil doesn't address the problem.

Added option to skip autopilot sequences in the galaxy map
I seriously don't understand how they didn't have that option right from the start. Or why they wanted to have the animation in the first place.

Now I'll wait......so you already were waiting.....but now you are waiting? Your post makes no sense.....because "Now I know I'll wait months for next releases" means you bought the game.....yet at the end state you will wait for it, to be dirt cheap.

How is it not a good message? They are fixing it, committed to fixing it as well as EA has divisions that release games perfectly fine......its obvious this copps to an inexperienced team making their first big game.....yes time does go along with it, but they had ample time for what we were given.

They had 5 years to polish and get the game done, it's obvious EA got annoyed and weren't going to release it even later without getting something out of it. They wanted some damn return for how long the game was taking to get it done.

Wow, I'm kinda surprised they even mentioned the m/m options. I'm still a bit doubtful that they'll do much to improve it, but at least they're not sweeping it under the rug. :)

I hoped for more asari & salarian faces

and I hope the music fix is actual music throughout the game and not just some small segments that were bugged

"To look cool"

But they obviously didn't consider or aware that others may find it jarring after the first time. It's so slow, glad it's optional now.

I'm with you there, I would really like to see them do something significant on the m/m front. It's such a step back from DA2 and Inquisition, and even ME3 had Kaidan who was a squadmate.

I'm glad they're going to address the underwhelming male/male romance options, but I wish they would of given a bit more detail on exactly what they're planning in that regard. Another romance option? (Preferably a squad mate.) Improved character models? New scenes for existing options? Adjusting the multiple romance trophy/achievement? Etc.

Considering how many people kept spamming #MakeJaalBi on twitter, sharing stories of woe and even searching BioWare and Mass effect brings up thousands of their posts, I am assuming that is what they are doing. Though pretty interesting how intent they were for changing who is a straight character to bisexual.

No mention of any framerate improvements or even a frigging 1080p mode for the Pro? How hard is it to implement this thing? Just give me the option to run the game in 1080p...

He is new fan favorite (not sure how when Drack exists) so everyone wants to bang new hot felinesnakerace.

There was mention of framerate improvements?

Also, set your Pro to 1080p..? Less elegant, but far from a hard thing to do.

Right - that's why it stings so much. One person I know always went to Bioware's panels at GaymerX, met and spoke to David Gaider, etc., so the backsliding was a real slap in the face for him.

In Jaal's case it's a combination of factors: a few comments made pre-release hinted at him being bi (or at least were widely taken that way), early datamining suggested he would be bi, he's a popular squadmate, and he would be the first alien M/M romance in the series.

There's a conversation to be had about changing characters' orientation after the fact, but making Jaal bi would probably be a pretty decent option from both Bioware and player POVs.

I hope they add map markers for some of the more egregious 'additional tasks'. I never did find all 6 bodies on Eos because fuck that needle in a haystack.

Man, I just don't get it.

It's much a significantly easier version of Sudoku. What's the problem?

I have a super-computer in my head, why am I doing this?

It's really nice to see them making improvements. This was probably going to be my next purchase but since they're going to be patching a lot of things in the upcoming months I might hold off on this until then. Plenty of other games to play in the meantime.

Oh yeah. I played the trilogy for the first time ever just a little over a year ago and had few bugs there especially the first game.

Yeah, Jaal was pretty much the only hope for having a m/m squadmate option. Liam has explicit "no homo" lines, and for whatever reason they don't seem to want anyone romancing Krogans lol. Also, I don't believe Scott even has the option to flirt with Jaal so he technically hasn't been rejected yet. ;)

You have to give them credit for that. It seems to cover most of the necessary bases. Some very encouraging improvements listed there.

Even in its current form the game is not a disaster, although a lot of that has to do with the incredibly solid and functional Mass Effect formula they had to work with.

Wonderful news! It seems that they are fixing more than I thought. It also makes me think that the game could have used more time. If it was released in June for example they might have avoided the animation issues. I guess it's better late than never. I kinda regret starting the game already. Did they mention when is the patch hitting the PC version of the game?
