Hahaha, yes they did. Simo posted a casting call sheet. They're hiring all Brazilian/Portuguese actors for the Brazilian roles, including this girl (the only other cast member asides from McCaffrey I'm aware of): Benedita Pereira

Oh man looking at the IMDB page for Max Payne 3, and while not the most accurate source, it lists Pedro Bromfman as composer for the score and his list of credits? The Elite Squad. Sure enough his website confirms it:

- Rockstar Games has hired Pedro Bromfman to compose the music for a major video game franchise.

Is that... good?

I haven't seen Elite Squad yet, it's on my to-do list

Edit: Hope they do a third variation of Max's Theme. I really want that piece of music to appear. You know... it's synonymous with Payne for me.

I haven't had a chance to see Elite Squad yet myself but I received it from Netflix on Friday, though Elite Squad was one of the main inspirations for why Rockstar set MP3 in Sao Paulo. You can hear some samples of Bromfman's work including some from Elite Squad.

I feel like the setting change was a necessity. We already had 2 games set in NYC, a third would be derivative as fuck. Not to mention Rockstar basically just did NYC with GTA IV. And also, there's been an NYC overload lately in our shooters nowadays. Sao Paulo is perfect for a crime story, and is virtually untapped in videogames. It has been featured in many movies already, and I think those movies show that gritty, hardboiled crime stories can be done in the sun.

It has potential to go either way. On one hand, it doesn't appear to have much in common with the first two games, which I happen to be very fond of. On the other hand, it's looks like Rockstar is putting some effort behind it, and I'm excited about the use of the euphoria engine. RDR went through development hell but turned out to be an incredible game, so maybe there's a chance MP3 could pull it off too. Or maybe it'll just suck.

Man, if they could get that horrific reality of CITY OF GOD also in there, NYC would look like Neverland compare to Sao Paulo. O_O

As opposed to many other high profile games, which show way too much before release, R* games usually keep the stuff shown ahead of time to a minimum. That ensures their trailers feel somewhat special, if you catch my drift. R* games trailers are the only ones I'll try to watch with the rest of the internet the minute they get released.

Rockstar has their problems, but their casting is almost always spot-on.
Hopefully they'll do a better job than with the spanish-spoken VA of the Mexico portion of RDR. That one ranged from passable to cringe-inducing.

Should read before I post.

Hope that the actors speak proper São Paulo's accent.

Also, it's this building on the newer art:

How different is the Sao Paulo accent from the rest of Brazil? Is it like New England or Deep South vs. General American or what?

Just saw Elite Sqaud 1&2 over the weekend. If this game is anything like those at all, ya'll better be fucking prepared for greatness.

So 9 AM PST tomorrow morning, right?

I can't wait to see GAF's reaction when they show a 30 second teaser.

Rockstar's never trolled people like that, I'd be really surprised if it wasn't at least a 90 second in engine trailer.

That would be devastating. :P

I want footage of Max leaping around the environment shootin' dudes in slow motion.

Debut trailers for both GTA:IV and RDR were about 1.04 and 1.31 respectively. LA Noire was about 1.10.

R* know how to cut a trailer for maximum effectiveness i'd expect nothing more than complete and utter awesomeness from the Max Payne 3 trailer when they show it later today.

What i do love is how each trailer from them this gen has gotten better and better we had the Life in the West series for Red Dead Redemption and The LA Noire gameplay series i wonder what they have up their sleeves for Max?

GTA:IV Debut Trailer

Red Dead Redemption Debut Trailer

LA Noire Debut Trailer

Holy fuck @ the Red Dead trailer. I forgot how good it was. Same with GTA IV. God damn, Rockstar's presentation is unmatched.

Yeah Rockstar has the best marketing in the game industry IMO. They are able to sell games no other publisher would even green light.

Their series of documentary-like trailers for RDR was perfect, it was exactly the proper way to market the game. Anyone, even people who never play video games, "got it".

I assume you mean the "best", and I agree, they also have absolute control over the release of media information, completely on their own terms. what other game company is able to be absent from e3 and other trade shows, yet still sell software in the millions?

granted they had to prove their chops by making GTA good, but still..

RDR's trailers were fantastic.

Though going through all those trailers reminds me of how every R* game this gen ends...

In misery and bitterness

Oh wow, and now I remember Triggernometry. Best track in RDR, so badass.

OMG can't fucking wait...

GTA: São Paulo, this is going to be awesome!

Actually our Portuguese is the most "clean" with less traits then the rest (like Rio, Bahia, Santa Catarina...)

Yes, it's a unique accent where the "r" is emphasized whereas people from Rio emphasize the "s", people from the NE talk like they're singing, people from Minas Gerais talk like there's no vowel at the end of a word when it's supposed to be there and so on.

Anyways I'm looking forward to the trailer tomorrow.

Pretty damn excited with under 14 hours to go given I've wanted to see footage of this since the Game Informer reveal. Even more so when you consider this is the first bit of new footage from a Max Payne game since Max Payne 2, 8 years ago.

Of course I work tomorrow so I'll have to settle for the SD stream before getting home.

Holy fuck.

I feel kinda old...

I wish you could've said Max Payne 1. :(

Yeah I know that feeling....I remember when Max Payne 2 came out so clearly given as I just moved to the US 2 months before the game was ported to the PS2. I remember the TV commercials advertising the PC release with the consoles "coming soon" and looking forward to the release by reading Dan Simmons "The Hard Freeze" to get the right mood, while it was November in Michigan so the book's setting wasn't that drastic to imagine.

I've actually been playing MP2 on my Mac as it's first time I've had the chance to play it that wasn't a console port.

Shit, 8 years? I was like... 14 when I played MP2.

Quick reminder ;)
