Rey is still one of the best wrestlers in the WWE, even though people dislike him because of his winning, he still manages to put on good matches when given the time.
No, he's really not. All of his matches flow the exact same way, even worse than Cena. None of his moves have the impact that they should. His finisher is atrocious and the belly splash is downright ridiculous. How is a guy supposed to take such a beating and survive, yet Rey literally falling off the rope going to put him out for good? At least the People's Elbow and Five Knuckle Shuffle had a lot of flash behind them and usually aren't used as a finisher. But Rey, at 180 pounds give or take, just falling on someone kills them. He may have had talent at some point, but he's as generic as they come these days.

I'll not have you badmouthing Batista! Sure, when he gets thrown into a post he waddles. Sure, he oversold a Mark Henry shove. But we all learned from it.

I totally agree with this. It just looks so silly coming from a guy who used to be known for doing impressive high-flying moves. Compare that to Kofi's diving splash last night that looked really, really impressive due to the massive height he got. Rey doesn't even jump. He falls. WTF?

yeah rey's splash is just a trust fall. He can't jump because his knee is shot.

I think we all know we can't jump, which is why I wonder why he even bothers doing it. It looks terrible. Either do something that DOES look impressive or don't do it at all.

The worst example was that elimination tag match (Bragging Rights was it?) when he pinned Zeke with the move, after botching it and basically stumbling off the ropes onto him.

Well, after all those years his body must be a real mess. Plus he's the WWE's Hispanic and kids magnet. They need him to play safe.

Cena and Orton are the two biggest stars in the company and even they don't play "as safe" as Rey does. He could certainly expand his moveset.

Orton has admitted he doesn't do alot more high risk in the ring anymore due to worried about getting injured. Suffice to say it makes him look incredibly boring.

He even stopped pounding the ground with his fists!

He has injured his left knee like 6 or 7 separate times, all requiring surgery.

He should have retired a long, long time ago.

He still doesn't look as boring as Rey does in the ring.

Are their bodies as shot as Rey's though?
Cena's had neck surgery twice now. I'm sure he's not exactly a spring chicken and in tip top shape. There's just no excuse for Rey to be that damn slow and boring in the ring, especially for someone that has to rely on said quick and flashy moves to take out his opponent. Surely he can do something more for his finisher other than literally falling three or four feet onto them with his belly. I mean he's getting fatter since he's off the juice, but it's not like that's going to devastate a guy like it's supposed to.

I haven't really watched wrestling in a while, but I saw a preview of Raw during Tough Enough, what are the belts that Kane and Big Show have? Neither of them looked familiar to me.

Mvp is right on with that one. The problem wasn't the fact that he jumped in, but that none of that made sense. Riley was doing what the fuck ever, and people like percy who were down with him throughout the contest is all of a sudden attacking him. I mean, what the hell?

There were some periods after the invasion angle where writing was handled by someone else, most notably Paul Heyman booking smackdown in 2004 (remember the Smackdown Six? Los Guerreros + Benoit and Angle + Edge and Mysterio? Yeah, that was him. During this period Smackdown actually eclipsed RAW in ratings IIRC). Heyman also booked OVW for a few years and basically had free reign over the first two One Night Stand PPVs.
Man I wish Paul would get back in the business. :/

Vince McMahon is slowly but surely becoming Al Davis. Awesome.

That could be a good thing--Davis likes the fastest guys in the league.

Bring on the new cruiserweight division!

(Yes, he's on the PPV promo poster. Anonymous RAW GM reveal coming in 3-2-1...)[/QUOTE]

He's not the GM. That was killed moments after the he named the GM. He called the GM and was pissed about something he/she did.

Clearly the GM won't be revealed until Jericho returns because he was the closest to finding out who it was. Edge smashed the GM's laptop using his head and ended his career!

Whoever the GM is it's not going to make sense. They didn't start off knowing who it is and the GM has pretty much helped and hindered every major person on the roster. When it is revealed people are going to look back and see so many things that don't make sense. It's even probably going to be someone who has been present while an email came through.

Using that logic, Vince couldn't have been the head of the Ministry of Darkness because Stephanie was kidnapped and almost sacrificed while he acted all concerned and traumatized.

And yet, lo and behold, Vince was the mastermind and the Corporate Ministry was born. You have to throw all logic out the window when it comes to Vince. Going out of his way right out of the gate to cement the fact that he WASN'T the anonymous GM clearly makes it more likely that he IS the anonymous GM. Yay for wacky WWE logic.

THERE HERE

The WWE really needs to, among other things, re-evaluate the current GM situation. Back when it was Heyman and Bischoff, you knew things were about to pick up when a GM came out.

The Anonymous GM angle has been beaten to death 100 times over. It's an angle that should've lasted 3 months at most, as no one is really wondering out loud who it is anymore, and it has been way more detrimental to the quality of the show than it needed to be. It is, without a doubt, a pacing killer. Now every time two superstars are arguing in the ring, they leave an awkward pause so that they can cue the ding, then we wait while Cole grabs a mic, stands up, and glacially reads the announcement, which is usually just "you're going to have a match!".

Also, Teddy Long is the most vanilla GM I could possibly imagine, so much so that he's nearly as bad as the Anonymous RAW GM.

If I could pick two people to be the GMs, I'd probably go with Cornette and Schiavone, as they'd both have "Oh, snap!" reveals and be great on the mic. I realize that these are both circling around 0% chance of happening, though. :(

It should be Michael Cole. He could have just be making it up as he's saying it, and emailing the podium when he's not out there. Then they should make him the full time GM and get him the hell away from commentary.

The GM has also dicked over Miz by doing stuff like putting him in a singles match against Big Show. Would make no sense for Cole to do that.

Unrelated video: Vince gets ripped to shreds by David Letterman. Anyone know why Vince was on this?

He could say he was just putting on an air of unbias so they wouldn't catch on. Really like was said no one makes any sense, but I think if it's Cole you can pretty much still have the same dynamic, so long as you tone down Cole's craziness of the last few months. Plus right now he's better suited to be a straight heel (either GM or manager of someone) than a heel announcer.

Cole really should be a manager at this point. Make a stable of Miz, Riley, Swagger and maybe someone else. Cole can commentate their matches only, that way he can get them heat without burying the entire product.

Too much sense this thread makes. Ignore it all the WWE will.
Yeh, I'm not saying that it won't be revealed to be Cole as the Raw GM, just that it won't make sense for him, or pretty much anyone really, to have been it. WWE gave up on logic a while ago.
Meltzer was saying on a recent Observer radio that a WWE employee told him the reason he wasn't getting why they were doing the things they do is that he is trying to think logically about it too much.
