This different audience thing is such bullshit. And them worried about the lack of faces and depth on their brands, ITS YOUR OWN DAMN FAULT. Semms the only way that will change if Cena and Orton go down, and Trips goes down after returning. And fuck Meltzer for disrespecting KIdd. "Oh he ain't main event leve, no need to help him or give him a manger or help him get better because he can't lead a brand" Keep towing the company line Meltzer you sellout, Everyone should be pushed at all times. I hate Michael hayes more than anyone but whoever has to sit next to him on a plane, but it's great Kidd has a manager.

After reading the Observer, especially the part about Vince's love for big, not-so-jolly green giants, I came to this conclusion: Vince McMahon is actually...

But but didn't you read McMahon's quote?

"McMahon also said that their storylines right now are as good as they have ever been."
Clearly this must be true or otherwise he never would have said it. The Rock birthday RAW episode should be considered the pinnacle of WWE entertainment & storytelling. It far surpassed anything that has taken place in pro wrestling in the past 50 years.

Depth must not be a serious issue. Plenty of great talents like Mason Ryan & Zeke waiting to be pushed as the next big stars of tomorrow. And they could always bring Brotista back. Oh boy oh boy oh boy, I can't wait.

I agree with you completely on the fact that the trades have evolved into WWE shills of late. Far too much "burying Christian for Orton's 8th title reign was a good idea" rhetoric for me to take seriously.

I...I think I see now, last week I was disgusted by that episode of Raw but now I see that it was simply too good, too good for the likes of me to appreciate. It was an episode years in the making, a sequel to the Rock's "this is your life" segment. Vince's long term story planning is truly masterful, the fact that I didn't see this until now just shows that....
No I can't keep this up, the best they have ever been? one of the most delusional things I've heard come from the man, any slim hopes I had that storylines could ever pick up again under Vince's reign have not been halted swifter than Christian's world title run.

The different audience thing is hilarious, i'm just imagining some fans ordering a ppv and being bewildered by seeing these mysterious Smakdown superstars having seemingly impromptu and non-built up matches among the Raw rabble. Actually they aren't really built up anyway. When someone switches brands without it being aired on raw do this apparent part of the fanbase just assume said wrestlers got injured or quit?

I don't usually wish injury on anyone, but boy would I love to see Orton and Cena take a nice deserved vacation from entertainment to clear up the top spot. That would really shake things up in the WWE.

Arn Anderson’s name was also talked about as potentially being a manager. This is after years of that position being a no-no

I would love to see this so much (he's actually managing/mentoring my heel character in SvR2011), but who would AA manage? Drawing a blank right now. :-\

After that, it's time to end the streak by bringing it back around full circle

I am pretty sure the Ultimate Warrior was the first to pin Taker clean and beat him multiple times in body bag matches too.

Vince needs to lay off his hard ons for crappy guys like Batista Jr. They are boring as fuck. The best champions were HBK, Brett, Randy Savage, Stone Cold and Jericho etc. I am surprised Edge and Miz got past Vince's approval. No reason to not push Punk and Christian. Christian should have been a multi time champion by now.

Watching an old Disco Inferno vs Jericho match as I upload new videos, and man, how the HELL did Disco get so fucking OVER? It's unbelievable.

Speaking of "How the hell did they get over?", remember Earnest "The Cat" Miller? What the Hell was up with that?

I do remember. I loved seeing the Cat come out and call out "anybody who thinks they can whup me! somebody call my momma!" etc. And Scott Norton would come out every time and murder him. God, I loved that.

Took me 3 months, but I've finally watched the entirety of 1997 Raw. The lead up to the screwjob was epic. Stone Cold is god tier right now, and DX has just started. Shit is about to get real.

And by shit, I mean the attitude era.

1998 was when I started watching wrestling every week, can't wait to re live this.

That's really cool to be able to watch a whole year. You find it out there somewhere, or just a decent youtube collection?

Had to do some searching. But I was recently directed to a site that streams full episodes. Not sure if I could post the link here, though ._.

Ahh don't worry about it - I just love archiving the stuff on my end. I love having the moments that you can't get on any dvd collection, things like that. If I had been someone hired to help digitize the WWE's whole library, I'd have been in heaven. I love that stuff.

Scott Norton is the motherfuckin' man. He is one of my all time favourite wrestlers. Just watched a vid of him in NJPW taking on nWo Muta and it was excellent. If you could upload some of his matches that would be awesome.

Man, Nitro's Midcard back in the day was fucking stacked. Some of the best matches I've ever seen.

The thing was, the midcard for Nitro was full of young and READY talents mixed in with veterans like Norton, etc - and everyone benefited. I love the WCW midcard from that era so much, because it showcased a ton of good, solid wrestling as well as introduced the cruiserweights (mostly luchadors) to me as well. They had a lot of fun doing it, too - a completely different animal than the WWE at that time, and I really appreciated it for what it was.

One of my favorite midcard matches was one with Curt Hennig vs Dean Malenko in a cage match on Nitro. Check it:

One of the best. I love that match - it's everything I want out of wrestling.
