Too sad. Macho Man was an absolute legend, wrestling wouldn't be the same today without him.

On a happier note, I'm making my way through 1998 WWF. I recommend watching Royal Rumble 1998. The lead up on Raw the prior couple of weeks was amazing, and the Rumble itself was great. The ending gave me the chills... it's crazy to watch 13 years later.

Here's a fun site that archives WWF house show results in case you ever went to a show in your childhood and forgot the specifics of what the card was or when it was held.

This was the card for the first ever live event I attended:

WWF @ Kitchener, Ontario - December 26, 1993 (matinee) (2,100)
Owen Hart defeated Adam Bomb
The Smoking Gunns defeated the Red & Black Knights (Steve Lombardi & Barry Horowitz)
Shawn Michaels defeated the 1-2-3 Kid
The Undertaker defeated WWF World Champion Yokozuna via disqualification
WWF IC Champion Razor Ramon defeated IRS
Rick & Scott Steiner defeated WWF Tag Team Champions the Quebecers via count-out
Randy Savage defeated Crush
Yep, Savage wrestled in the main event. :(

On another note my son was born this morning, right now I wish I believed in reincarnation, would be fun to have a mini Randy Savage! Although he is perfect as is.
Awesome!

Here's some non-Macho Man news. Rest in Power...

It looks like Michael Hayes may be done as Tyson Kidd's manager already. After Kidd lost to Yoshi Tatsu on last night's Superstars, Hayes went to help Kidd up but ended up elbowing him back to the mat. Hayes said he has better things to do than hang around losers. There was talk that Hayes would be managing other WWE talents so it's possible WWE will keep him in the managerial role.

Poor Tyson Kidd, lol.

If there is anything redeeming about this, it's the reactions of all the old 80s/90s fans who quit watching before the Internet era and never knew Randy Savage & The Genius were brothers. Such as this comment from some old dude on CNN's article about it:

OH MY GOD the genius is randy savages brother????? that fa***t who always did cartwheels with his fairy wrists flapping and read poems was the brother of the damn macho man???????

I'm re-watching Impact Promo from last night and forget the new set or the 5 matches or even the title change...Karen coming out the floor in her wheelchair was GODLIKE. It's almost up there with bloody Vince looking over the apron.

So, why not use Hayes' managerial talent on guys who could use it, like Kidd? Kidd's pretty damn good to watch in the ring. They'll probably give managers to fucks who can't work a decent match.

uh? huh?

He's already Kidd's manager.

He's left Kidd. Kidd could have really used a mouthpiece like Hayes.

A manager is good for wrestlers who are lacking the mic skills/charisma. Hell, a manager WITH a wrestler with those charismatic skills are even better.

PWTorch is reporting that Terry Taylor has been fired by TNA as VP of Talent Relations. Taylor has held the job since 2003. The current speculation is that Bruce Prichard will take over the job. Prichard (aka Brother Love) was a long-time WWE executive from 1988-2008. After taking nearly two years off, he joined TNA in November 2010. Taylor was working for WWE as an agent when TNA hired him in 2003. There is no word on whether Taylor will get offered a position in WWE.

The Nasty Boys defeated Owen Hart & Koko B. Ware
Shawn Michaels defeated Tito Santana

Dude, I think we live in the same city. I wasn't at that one though, I got into wrestling just before then. I remember my mom telling me her friend asked her if I wanted to go to Popeyes gym and meet the wrestlers while they were working out and my mom told him "no he doesn't watch wrestling" and then told me about it AFTER :(

I've been to all the cards at The Aud since. It's been a while. Seriously, why do they keep going to London and Barrie and don't come back here? Idiots.

wtf.

I honestly never knew you and DMczaf were two different people.

The first WWF event I ever attended was one of those marathon early-90s TV tapings. The main part of it was for those shows on NBC they called "The Main Event" after they stopped doing Saturday Night's Main Event for a while. The show I went to had the debut of Paul Bearer and the Ultimate Warrior destroying Brother Love forever (until 1995).

(trust me: you don't want me pasting that show from the site...huge wall of text)

My first WWE event

WWF @ Anaheim, CA - Arrowhead Pond - March 12, 1995 (7,000)
Kwang pinned Gary Key with a spin wheel kick at 4:18
Hakushi pinned the 1-2-3 Kid at 6:15 after turning an attempted spin wheel kick into a powerbomb and a running senton
WWF Women's Champion Bull Nakano pinned Alundra Blayze with a powerbomb and putting her feet on the ropes at 8:04; Bob Holly disputed the call after the match but the decision stood
Bob Backlund defeated Bob Holly at 8:43 via submission with the Crossface Chicken Wing after Holly thought he had scored the pinfall
WWF World Champion Diesel & Razor Ramon defeated Shawn Michaels & WWF IC Champion Jeff Jarrett via disqualification at 14:19 when Psycho Sid interfered and attacked Diesel; the match came down to Michaels vs. Diesel after Razor was injured and helped backstage by officials while the Roadie helped a stunned Jarrett backstage minutes later; the Undertaker eventually came to Diesel's aid against Sid and Michaels
Jacob & Eli Blu defeated the New Headshrinkers at 8:08 after Fatu was clotheslined by the illegal Blu
The Undertaker defeated Bam Bam Bigelow via disqualification at 11:08 when Bob Backlund interfered, attempted to apply the Crossface Chicken Wing on the Undertaker, but was quickly thrown to the floor
Bret Hart defeated Owen Hart via submission to the Sharpshooter in a No Holds Barred match at 5:47; after the bout, Bret kept the hold applied for several moments before letting go

They go to fucking Barrie? :lol

London, I can understand.

I remember going to a WCW show back in 2000, it was kinda awful. I bought Lance Storm's "Don't blame Canada, blame yourself!" shirts, people at school made fun of me. :|

I always made the trip down to TO for Smackdown, Raw and went to Wrestlemania X8

First WWF show I went to:
WWF @ Toronto, Ontario - SkyDome - November 7, 1998 (16,372)
Paul Ellering (sub. for 8-Ball) & Skull defeated Droz & Road Warrior Animal at 5:52 when Droz was pinned after being hit with Ellering's briefcase while Road Warrior Animal fought with an interfering Road Warrior Hawk
Tiger Ali Singh pinned Al Snow at 8:26 with a roll up
Steven Regal pinned Steve Blackman at 4:28 by using the ropes for leverage
Christian & Gangrel defeated Brian Christopher & Scott Taylor at 9:30 when Christian pinned Taylor with a reverse DDT
WWF European Champion X-Pac pinned Jeff Jarrett at 9:31 in a guitar on a pole match after hitting the challenger with the guitar after blocking Jarrett's attempt to come off the top with the guitar with a blow to the midsection
WWF IC Champion Ken Shamrock defeated WWF Hardcore Champion Mankind in a streetfight at 6:13 following a chair shot
Edge & Sable defeated Marc Mero & WWF Women's Champion Jackie at 8:23 when Edge pinned Mero with the Downward Spiral after Mero sustained a low blow from Sable
Goldust pinned Val Venis with a roll up at 7:03
WWF Tag Team Champions the Road Dogg & Billy Gunn defeated Mark Henry & D-Lo Brown at 7:23 after D-Lo was hit with one of the title belts
Steve Austin defeated Kane, Undertaker, and the Rock in a steel cage match by pinning the Rock with the Stunner at 8:57 as the Undertaker and Kane brawled their way backstage

Seriously, the last time the WWE was in Kitchener was 2005. They've been to Barrie at least 3 times since then.

Edit: I checked the site, 4 times. WTF?

SD was pretty good this week. Loads of matches. First time in months I'd watched it without reading spoilers which made it more enjoyable.

Rolled my eyes when
SinCara
came out merched up to the eyeballs.

Humiliating for Mr Charisma
DiBiase
to be taken under
Cody's
wing, really.

Over The Limit card looks stacked so should hopefully be another wall-to-wall wrestling PPV.

If by stacked you mean the same old shit for months on end like The Miz/John Cena and Cole/Lawler feuds, then sure.

drink every time Dave says

ya know

WTF is going on with Christian and Randy Orton? Christian is being booked like a straight up punk after losing his title in 2 DAYS, and Randy Orton is Mr. Nice Guy now....I think he's on drugs as well.

EDIT: :lol then I read half of the posts before mine and everyone else is just as flabbergasted.

WAT DA HAIL IS GOING ON IN HERE?

My first WWE event:

- Paul London bt. Billy Kidman to Retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship

A very good match, London pulled off all his usual spots but he was fired up for the match and they must of put on a good 20 Minute match which had many many spots in and ones that really were only there to impress the fans and they did! London was very over in Manchester!

- Big Show bt. Carlito (w/ Matt Morgan)

A fairly quick match, Carlito is a great character and did some of his comedy spots where he got out of the ring to carry on warming up. Nothing much else to report from this match except a pretty normal Carlito/Show match!

- Funaki bt. Chavo Guerrero

Now I have been a favourite of these matches they have had because they have all been pretty decent but this match was awful, they spent 5+ minutes on an injury angle which would of been interesting if the two guys in the ring weren't putting on a crapfest! I think thery were trying to get Funaki over more by making him fight back to win with an injury but it didn't really both that many people! Not good stuff at all, definitely the worst match of the night!

- Matt Morgan bt. Mark Jindrak

Believe it or not this wasn't a bad match, Jindrak has got some impressive moves and showcased them especially his clothesline from the top rope. Morgan's contribution to the match was really basic big men moves and slowed it down a lot but it wasn't that bad! I've definitely seen worse matches....an average match!

- MNM bt. Hardcore Holly & Booker T to Retain the WWE Tag Team Championship

Damn MNM are a great tag team and damn Melina is hot in real life, the match was pretty good with Holly & Booker getting great reactions from the crowd. Holly seemed to have more interaction with them which is what he should do to get more over in the WWE at the moment because it seemed to work! It was a end to end match and to be honest Holly seemed to have improved. Anyway decent match!

* Segment where Torrie Wilson came to the ring and threw T-Shirts in to the crowd (she had a weak throw), she was about to take her t-shirt off to throw until Melina came to the ring which was a very pleasant surprise! I was hoping for a cat fight but it ended with Melina getting knocked down with wrestling moves and then Torrie taking her top off which revealed very little. The men of Manchester were not pleased especially because I think they wanted to see Melina in their bra & panties!

- INTERMISSION-

* Theodore Long came to the ring and went on about the fans making Smackdown what it is today and etc and then started to hype Austin being the referee in the Triple Threat WWE title match and then started to talk about the next match between Eddie & Mysterio!

- Rey Mysterio bt. Eddie Guerrero

If I hear Eddie sucks down my ear once more I am going to tape people's mouths shut, people behind me continued to say it and when a big move was done their mother started to tell their 6 year old kid that they get paid to get hurt! Bah anyway the match was pretty decent, Eddie seems to be much slower recently but a good solid match none the less. Mysterio was very over and fans seemed to flock very fast on the floor when Mysterio hit the 619! Good stuff!

- Orlando Jordan bt. Heidenreich to Retain the WWE United States Championship

Orlando is getting a good wrestler, he seems to have grown some balls from the guy who started out with a bald head! But seriously his character is going to go far, he almost impressed me. His in-ring work is very good and has a smiliar style to Rocky Johnson and he keeps showing why he deserves to keep the title! As usual he won with the feet on the ropes but it was a good match with both men impressive! Heidenreich was very over and got 3 youngsters in the ring after the match to do the Heidenreich march!

* Before the WWE title match, JBL did a promo where he was going on about American being better than England then talked about how England got Malcom Glazer to run their stupid Manchester United football team! Being in Manchester this got some good heat!

- John Cena bt. JBL & Kurt Angle to Retain the WWE Championship (Guest Referee - Stone Cold teve Austin) The match was pretty good, the crowd totally went nuts when Austin & Cena came out. No word of mention that Cena & Angle were now on Raw but they all put on a good match! The ending was where Angle got pushed in Austin by accident. Austin soon grabbed a steel chair off Angle and stunnered him which allowed Cena to get the FU on JBL to get the 3.

After the match, Cena & Austin drank beer and at one point they had about 5 cans each drinking them all at once. Austin soon stunnered Cena but helped him up soon after and then continued to drink again. Big Show then came down to the ring and Austin did his usual 1 beer, 2 beers etc. In the end Austin just kept throwing beers to Big Show. Show then was made to do a little song in the ring until Austin grabbed the mic and gave it to Cena. Cena soon did a very short rap and FU'd Show before Austin left the ring and then so did Cena. When Show got up he got an ovation and left! Awesome moment, you really had to be there and I'm definitely glad I got to see an Austin end of show bash because they are awesome!

did they do a in memory of randy savage on smackdown?
I doubt there was time for the YouTube version. Maybe when they air.

I hope they just announce on the PPV that the tribute will be taking place on Raw. I'd rather see it get the bigger audience.

Does that site have archives for WCW shows as well? If not, then it's no big loss. I can't really remember it all that well. It involved Sting and Hogan in the main event (Hogan in the nwo, Sting wasn't).

No Savage tribute or acknowledgement at the start of Smackdown.

I wasn't sure if there would be one or not. I don't know what WWE's deadline is for delivering the final edited version of SD to SyFy for broadcast.
