Maybe this thread posting thing isn't all it's cracked up to be

Why exactly?

The PS4 is not a high end gaming PC. Of course things like Sleeping Dogs on a top PC will look better than the PS4 version of this game.

It doesn't need to be high end gaming PC. With all that fast memory it should be able to use great textures and it has enough processing power not to struggle with the framerate. Specially since there is no need for crazy resolutions like on PC. Even if Watch Dogs is a crossgen game, it should be crisp and smooth on a good gaming PC at 1080p.

games take time and this one is still not done.

And I said what?

Are the specs of the PS4 overhyped?

How is it that Watch_Dogs looks and runs like garbage on the PS4, while AC3 runs at 1080p 60fps on my 2 year old 'mid range' PC?

Why does Driveclub look and run like crap?

Honestly, the only games which even look remotely good are Killzone and Infamous on the system. And the former has had FPS problems

Give us a break with the nonsense.

What mid range PC runs AC3 at 1080p60 btw? I have a mid range pc and it runs like shit at 1440x900 with everything maxed.

Yeah, just go back and look at the AC3 performance thread from last year. People with high end rigs were struggling to get a constant 60 fps with all settings maxed.

Talk about jumping the gun. We haven't even hit launch yet we get a thread like this to remind the TC that launch games don't ever take advantage of the HW to the potential that later and more mature HW cycle games do. Not that there aren't some great looking PS4 games that have been shown already but nothing has shipped nor will it ship for at least a few more months.

Why don't you wait until the game releases?

This.

Plus, if SSM and ND are able to put out incredible PS3 games like GoW Ascension and The Last of Us in 2013, imagine what they'll be able to do with the PS4 in five or six years. I would argue that it's towards the tail end of the generation that we'll really see all the power inside the console.

In some situations there is no need for stealth.

What if people didn't really know what specs mean? And they overhyped it as they do with everything?

Judging a system in terms of power by launch games is stupid. Like Resistance hasn't been blown out of the water by many games that came after....

This.

Because God of War 2, Halo 4, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Resident Evil 4, Mario Galaxy, Crysis 3, Bioshock Infinite, Last of Us, Uncharted 2, and every other graphical showcase came out for their respective consoles during launch.

Very bad and non informed OP, please take your time and rationalize before clicking the Create Thread button. Welcome to NeoGAF, enjoy your dogpile

Exactly, it's all UbiSoft. In other words, if it comes out and runs like shit on any console or PC, it's probably them that's fucked up rather than any fault of the console or power of your PC.

...

I've heard that AC3 was a bit rough on the PS3 as well, maybe it's down to Ubisoft being crap at dishing out yearly updates of their franchises?

Why does Driveclub look and run like crap?

Declared as pre-alpha code, MotorStorm developer Evolution Studios is quick to point out that the E3 build in demonstration is only 35 per cent complete. In such an early state, DriveClub doesn't hold up on technical grounds with the Gran Turismos and Forzas of the world

It's like complaining that Xbox 360's BF4 alpha is missing textures.

Thank you based OP, you have opened my eyes. PS4 pre order cancelled.

BTW what are your top 10 must have launch titles for the Xbox 180? I would love to hear your opinion. Don't reply in this thread just make a new one.

To be honest I'm simply surprised at the graphical downgrades we have seen with Watch_Dogs.

The game appears to look worse and worse everytime it is shown. Did you guys see the Jimmy Fallon video? I didn't expect Watch_Dogs to look like a masterpiece, but it almost looked like a current-gen game in that demo!

You judge the PS4 on some pre alpha launch game? Really? And the like of Naughty Dog, Polyphony and SSM hasn't even shows their card yet? However, I find it strange you left out The Order, The Dark Sorcerer for your convenient which graphically speaking looks the best on any hardware shown at E3.

Its strong in specs, the first wave wont show much obviously. its a shame its being used in fanboy wars too much though, have we learned nothing the last 2-3 gens?

Still waiting
For the specs? i5 2500k OC, 8GB RAM, MSI TFIII 6950 OC.

Again, I'm simply assuming with the power of the 'closed box', it should be easier to utilise power, especially if you 'code to the metal' (whatever that means..)

Yes I know this thread has gotten a huge amount of backlash, but I'm just honestly surprised. Perhaps my expectations were too high. The PS3 has some visually fantastic games despite being on such dated hardware. The PS4 is a substantially stronger piece of hardware. But it doesn't appear to be that way.

You are our first contestant in a game we like to plaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

PROOF OR ASSUMPTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't need to prove it, I don't need to prove the average piano weights more than a guitar either, it's still a fact. Watch Dogs isn't magical, Ubisoft's engineering isn't going to nullify a huge performance gulf.

It's actually impossible to prove something like that, because it's subjective. People holder different aspects of a game's graphics with different levels of importance. Some favor great image quality above higher poly models, or better object texturing versus crisper alphas, or whatever. You can't objectively declare one game to be visually superior to others. My post meant for most people, it will likely be a clear win. I can't guarantee everyone who cared them would agree, but that's obvious.

I played warframe on PS4 and looked awesome.
I played Killzone and looked awesome and smooth.
Infamous Second Son it's more than amazing (ok, I haven't play it, just watched it played in front of my eyes on real TV).
Same for all those other games: Watchdog, Assassin creed, etc etc

Please, stop complaining!
How many of you are have tried (or saw) these games in real life ?
Wait for the final release and anyway we got it, PC is the best because every mid-range pc can run every game at 1080p/60fps. Awesome!
So, what now? Console players should start to play on PC only?
Console player need to admit their fault because they play games on garbage tech?
What is your point in the end?
I don't really catch it sorry.

It's a cross-gen game. It doesn't take full advantage of next-gen systems.

It is a joke, but was the PS4 overheating at the AC demo? I'm having a hard time believing anyone would think that was worth showcasing.

More likely to be a bug. DF said they played the same segment with no issues.

Bear in mind that Guerilla said at the PS Meeting in Feb Killzone had a 3/100 chance of failing live on stage. Shit happens with unfinished code.

None of the launch games are going to code to the metal. But I kind of agree. Knack doesnt look to amazing visually in my opinion so its disapointing its only 30fps.

Wii U got judged on launch titles. Its PS4 turn. Lol

I think the Wii U is a perfect storm of bad factors (most of which are Nintendo's fault) - a relatively high price; the lack of even one piece of essential software; poor post-launch software support; very poor third party support; a confused message about the console's benefits; poor marketing. Sony could and should sidestep most of these, although who knows if its exclusive software will be really good, or if they'll have a crown jewel 'killer app' release any time soon.

It will be fine. They have tons of time to get those issues ironed out. Now if it was a video clip in a snap window running slow, then that would would be something to worry about ;)

It's a mid range PC, nothing groundbreaking about it except that it's using GDDR5 and that's not truly groundbreaking.

my thoughts exactly.

maybe just because I got used to play mainly on my PC-rig, which though it isn't high-end, it's pretty decent (i2500k OC@4.0, 4GB DDR3 2133, SSD) I can't see a noticeable generation lap with this new consoles.
