Depends on if you count Pearl/Diamond as one game. Other than that I don't think an awful lot of games come close. NSMB had around 900k first week I think.

It's not a sudden drop; Famitsu has had Wii sub-30K for the last few weeks.

This weeks Media Create thread will be amazing, X360 no.1 for the week, good numbers for IU and Pokemon doing crazy numbers.

Well, that's not a sure thing. As you can see in the above image, for whatever reason MC and Famitsu have had a notable Wii disparity recently. X360 has been pretty even, though.

It looks like SCE gave an ultimatum to Level5, this year or bust. With the release date in mind, and Hino words about team still working hard, being the first episode and such...all signs point to an unpolished, unfinished piece of a game to see if its worth working more on it.

Despite the doubt over a TGS demo appearance, I'd imagine they would have optimized the camera and framerate. God help them if they couldn't fix it over a one year blackout. It might be just a content issue over what was sent to the cutting board.

If they were talking about online, however, I'd imagine they would need more time to get it right out of the box.

Anyway, amazing sales for Pokemon Platinum. Way past my expectations.

I don't think j-gamers will be selling their consoles with Last Remant and Star Ocean on the way. However, FF XIII isn't coming out for 360 in Japan, and we don't know of any other 360 JRPGs after SO, so that'll be the point it could happen unless MS unveils some new stuff at TGS.

It's a very rare thing that doesn't end up with a lower tie ratio as the installed base increases.

That too. But this is more of DS going back up with Sony not releasing new PSP colors to stem that.

EDIT: And was anything I said wrong? These people have been playing Monster Hunter for the past year and Phantasy Star for the past month - two very similar games in terms of style and play. People WILL get tired of it, and with no other releases, colors, etc., expect the weekly numbers to drop.

I understand that, but it's still almost a sure thing for any series on any platform that as more systems are available, a game will end up selling to a smaller percentage of them, so it doesn't really tell us much. The core group of people who can be counted on to probably buy from a series becomes a smaller percentage of the whole as the whole increases.


Also in this specific case, having different numbers of days on sale muddies the comparison anyway.

You'd think that with no new games and a new PSP in less than a month, people could control themselves better and wait for the new version to come out.

To follow up on what Joshua said (actually no sudden drop at all), hardware sales overall go down during the fall which is the slowest sales period of the year. DS is counteracting this with a surge of big games and 360 had a spike this week for obvious reasons.
