As junkwaffle proved, your derailment was fantastic news (and congrats to it!), but semantics about the Wii vs 360... I mean, really... the Wii's poised to take worldwide market leadership by the end of summer. Is it really worth arguing semantics about lineups and Halo and shit? :lol

There is a fair amount of advertising (store flyers, posters, etc) for it. Not as much as for the original release, but way more than a re-release usually gets.

Yeah he gets called on it a lot but always fails to respond. He only likes his predicitions of the future, even if they are not based on actual trends.

Well we all know how important Halo 3 is for the japanese market...

Seeing that GoW made it into the charts I can see Halo 3 do that as well, it'll just die the next week.

But seriously they recently released a "PS3 with Casino Royal Bundle", so I can check to see if those are selling. They sure are pushing them. When I went into Best Denki the other day James Bond was looking at me from behind every corner.

Anyway, just out of interest, could you see how Forza is doing over there? I know 360 is dead and all, but hey, it should be selling at least a bit.

I was looking at the amazon charts and man, it really has to be a slow week, #1 in these last days is this weird 1800 DS game released in August last year :lol

And its not a special offer or anything...I wonder what happened to see such a bump for a 10-months-old game.

Oh and I fear what this 'Medikara' game is and how it'll will do since its Nintendo...

Right now (link), there are two Wii games (RE4 @ 6, DQ:S @ 14) and two 360 games (Trusty Bell @ 8, Vampire Rain (?) @ 13) in the top 25. No PS3 games. Also, Ouendan 2 is #2, and Ouendan 1 is #19. :)

Well, we occasionally talk about how Wii is more successful than all previous consoles, so that it's more successful than a subset of all previous consoles is not a big surprise. Nice graph, though.

Vampire Rain is on top25 cause it has 70% discount. I wonder why that strange game for DS is on the top too, probably it's an english training, there are also TOEIC test and the classical english training made by Nintendo.
Ouendan 2 still at #2, probably it's selling well cause it's difficult to see games on top positions after their releases...

Amazon usually gives you a pretty good picture of what the dedicated gamers are playing. The casuals will buy their DS games at department stores. And Hardcore gamers in Japan do play.. and LOVE the 360. The "gamers" in my city can't stop talking about it. But to the casuals it is avoided like the plague. It shows how niche the "otaku gamer" has become.

Thus... the fact that ther is a causual game on the top of the charts, and a relatively unknown one, makes no sense to me. Perhaps smeone discovered a nude patch that can be activeted by the Konami code or something...

Hot Shots Golf PS3 is at #44. Three 360 games are in front of it (Oblivion @ 35, Vampire Rain @ 17, Trusty Bell @ 7).

If FFXIII does get announced for the 360 and advertised that it's coming (it doesn't matter how far in advance; the earlier, the better for the 360), the 360 might actually catch up to the PS3. That's assuming that the PS3 continues its moribund existence, as far as sales go, though.

That's surprising. I had been led to believe that the Hot Shots brand was pretty powerful over in Japan.

I don't think that's likely at this point. If it does come out on 360, it will be after the PS3 release.
