I should declare Wario Land a dead series. Made in Wario sells better, and even then it's a tired microgame fest.

All first party minigame collections sell better on the Wii and DS. This the new direction and reality that Nintendo has created. If they made a WarioWare game using the Wii balance board with just stupid jumping and tilting minigames, it'll sell more in one day than WarioLand Shake will sell in it's lifetime. :p

Hey! WarioWare Twisted was pretty rad!

As are all of the WarioWare games (I'm a big fan of the characters, the music, and yeah, the gameplay).

well, at least that's what got me into warioware. if it was just some random generic character, i would have probably missed the games.

in my case, it was a wario land fan going into warioware. the opposite seems to not work.
Yep, they tried and failed. No chance for 2D Wii Mario game now.

Was Bully: Scholarship Edition really released for the PS2 (budget rerelease)? Or should that be Wii?

Like I said in the other thread, I would really like to see WarioLand sell 100k. Hopefully it performs better in the US and Europe.

I lost my bookmark to Josh's site, does anyone have a link? I want to check out first week data for the past Fatal Frame entries.

Nintendo's probably making WarioWare Ass Shaking right now anyway

There are already four or five on the system!
No thanks to ports. New, remake or BUST!

The fad of buying stupidly shitty pokemon battle simulators that provide no advantage over the real thing and cost twice as much should be over. :lol
But it's still not over. 50% drop to a big number is still big.

Lovely. It's the PS2 game with the same Japanese name as the 360 game. However, the PS2 game is "Bully" and the 360 game is the "Scholarship Edition." Wonderful.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across as rude. I was just unsure.

So this is Bully's first release in Japan. Interesting.

Is the disappointment over Wario Land: Shake It's performance part of an on-going in-joke? What were people's expectations for this game's performance, exactly? I mean, to suggest that a 2D Super Mario on Wii, or something else in 2D, is now out of the realm of possibility is just off to me.

I think it's the expectation that it'll do a lot better, given that the previous title in the series has sold half a million, and that this title is looking good gameplay wise, visually nice, and on the leading new-gen console, and still only sells 25,000 in a week. (and 10,000 in a day). I expected somewhere nearer to 100k in the week given the past title's sales.

(and hello!)

Welcome back Panther.

Sad numbers for Wario. I wonder what the game lacks to be appealing. Maybe it's just too old-school.

For you I guess. When I bought the Wii version of WarioWare my mother couldn't believe what she was seeing when I was playing it, and it had nothing to do with the fat man with the lightning bolt mustache.

I might be wrong but I think wii party games are going to basically squeeze the life out of core console games in general in Japan, obviously it doesn't help that a company like Namco is basically bleeding the Tales franchise dry, too many installments, not enough improvements between installments to stimulate consumers who are simply looking for something fresh and different even if different is cheap and wanky.

A decent number for Siren, considering the popularity of the series. I guess it might do about 60% of what Siren 2 did. Of course we have no way of knowing the PSN numbers. With those numbers it might get close to Siren 1+2 sales levels.

I know someone has the official Siren 1/2 sales figures around here. But if memory serves:
Siren 1 debut 48k
Siren 2 debut 43k

Something like that?

Kagari said:
Wasn't that baseball game priced more on PS2 than Wii version?

Yes sir.

That's the reason i was disappointed with Wii numbers, last year both versions had same price, this year Wii version is 1000yen cheaper, but sales were terrible.

Honestly i feel Pawapuro 15 a bigger bomba than Wario, Wario had few commercials on tv, it was announced a couple of months ago, the site on NoJ was open just one month ago. Now we just have to hope about word of mouth for better sales...

It is disappointing but I am holding out hope that the US and Europe will make up for it. Core software definitely seems to sell much better in the other two regions.

Really? I thought all RPGs were pretty core.

Just wondering, what would be considered a core RPG?
does core= hardcore now? I think i missed them. I mean, a lot of RPGs are kinda casual (thus why they're popular.) I mean, FF and DQ are very easily accessible.

SMT... is not. It's a brutal series.

Yes. It was available for a 48 hour period for only ¥5500, two weeks before the packaged disc release.

It is getting tons of TV ads. Sega is pushing this as hard as Capcom pushed Monster Hunter. Same style of ads too actually. It is clear they are going after the same people.
If they managed to get sales similar to MHP1 then it's a good start. I'll hope consumers will buy it.

repost because the other thread is about to die:

what i find baffling about the Wario situation is how can the WarioWare games sell millions and the Wario Land ones struggle to get 50k.

what about those Warioware consumers? are they fans of wario or just fans of that type of game?
Every WarioLand was a million seller (worldwide), but then again those were all handheld games. Maybe the fanbase just isn't there (at least on Wii in Japan) :(

I hope that it will sell well in America and Europe.

Sorry. You weren't being rude. I was expressing frustration that it is two different English names but the same Japanese name. My formatter just translates the Japanese name, so I either have to have one of them be the wrong name or manually adjust the name each time. I'll probably just end up calling them both "Bully" and be done with it. :lol

I wasn't being clear what I was frustrated about, so sorry for coming off as ungrateful. :( I do appreciate being double-checked. :)
