Famitsu is tracking Monster Hunter 3G lower (there was a great discrepancy in its opening) than Media Create or Denegeki, ¿maybe a little adjustment?

Media Create
Monster Hunter 3G # <ACT> (Capcom) {2011.12.10} (¥5.800) - 21.318 / 1.232.343

Famitsu
Monster Hunter 3G # <ACT> (Capcom) {2011.12.10} (¥5.800) - 20.621 / 1.176.287

Ninja Gaiden is not a big franchise in Japan and Sigma Plus is like the fourth version of an old Xbox game. And it's not on the hottest platform right now. And there's a proper sequel coming pretty soon. I don't think anyone should be surprised if Sigma Plus is not doing super great.

Why would anyone want to buy the third re-release of a 8 year old game when the next entry in the series is just one month away?

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Ask that to Koet Tecmo.
Seriously, what's the sense of this Ninja Gaiden re-release, I still can't find it.

Ninja Gaiden is not considered a Japanese-centric series anyway. No Ninja Gaiden game has sold more than 40k in the first week, and none of them have sold close to 100k LTD. It's developed in Japan, but really only sells in the West.

It cost a buck to make and it could sell somewhat reasonably on a new platform that doesn't have a lot of games so far. It's not something anyone at Koei really thought much about and neither should we.

Well, when there's almost nothing to buy and play...

I don't think any Vita owner in Japan exclusively owns the hardware. They're definitely buying and playing stuff on other platforms. Just look at the attach rate of Vita games. If there are many desperate Vita owners looking for something to play, the attach rate for most of the games would be higher.

It seems the majority of Vita owners bought the hardware and probably 1-2 games at most, which they personally like, and aren't interested in the others.

True, but still depressing.
It's not that I expected Ninja Gaiden to sell something above 20k, but below 5k will be really low (though it costed almost nothing to Tecmo).

I wonder what the situation is in regards to used Vita HW/SW.

Ninja Gaiden Black sold below 5k in Japan. I really don't think anyone really cares about Ninja Gaiden sales in Japan. :p

Actually, looking at that... compared to other platforms, the Xbox name really doesn't do too badly at selling NG titles in Japan, does it?

Admittedly, that's a bit like coming first in a biplane race flying a harrier jump jet, but still...

Well, Sony platforms only ever got enhanced re-releases so far. The series didn't really get the chance to establish itself on a platform with a bigger audience and that ship has certainly sailed by now.

The series should be renamed Ninja Gaijin instead. Seriously.

Well that fits the Japanese stereotype. To them ninjas are really popular with gaikoku otaku (who according to the Otaking Okada Toshio from Gainax are Western anime and game fans who want to become Japanese) and in Guilty Gear there's even an American ninja named Chipp Zanuff who claims he's really Japanese.

...

Until the next big release (Persona 4, I assume?), I think Sony need to take every week that it's above 10k as a positive.

Hurray.

I'm going to guess that the next title in the top rankings that's not a new release will be Revelaitons. Also, I note that both SM3DL and MH3G are *up* on last week - looks like they're levelling off. MK has a <10% drop, too.

3DS is in a much better position than PS3 at the same point. For the U.S., DS sales are dead, mainly due to the cheapest readily available DS being the same price as a 3DS. No strong reason to get DS over the 3DS. In that same case with a Pokemon Black & White 2 on DS, if you don't already have a system that can play it (ReggieWhat'sWrongWithYou.gif), you'd probably end up buying a 3DS to do so instead of the equally priced DSi.
I don't know, man. Who are these people who will purchase a system based on a single game, but didn't do so for Diamond/Pearl, HeartGold/SoulSilver, and Black/White? Rich 5 year olds who don't notice the others still being available?

Didn't say it would be big increase. :p Just saying if any systems are going to be sold due to Pokemon Black & White 2, it's more likely to be 3DS systems due to the price parity than DSis.

Could more 3DSs have been pushed if this were a 3DS-only release? Absolutely. However it's not as completely backwards for 3DS as it appeared at first look with the price parity in play.
