Any news on what's going on with 2.2? Or is it too early to ask?
Is there any date set for its release? I've been reading around for it and can't find anything. I really need a new phone but if the Droid 2 is coming out soon I might as well wait.thewesker said:Just keep in mind, the Droid 2 and Shadow are likely to be launching within the next month or so.

And you can count on it, straight from Moto Mobile!Almighty_Chocobo said:"Soon"
I hope to god you have insurance. Expect no help otherwise.Hawkian said:My headphone jack suddenly, inexplicably stopped working. It won't even detect that something is plugged in or out, let alone pass sound through. Not good as I use it all the time in my car with an AUX port on my stereo. New phone is likely my only option?
I had had literally zero problems with the Droid hardware from day one until this.
You can still use the phone, so they likely won't do anything to help you without it. When I went in there and my charging port was fucked (making the phone technically unusable) they said the only reason they could do anything about it was because I had insurance.Hawkian said:Asurion... no insurance, what are you kidding? :lol
That's pretty shitty of them, phones still have a 1 year warranty.thewesker said:You can still use the phone, so they likely won't do anything to help you without it. Hawkian said:Either way I'm glad I have it, it's an expensive piece of hardware.
Getting a whole new phone is such a pain in the ass though :lol I have literally no other issues with it.
What do I have to do before bringing it in, return to stock and unroot?
One of the main reasons I love the Android platform and the cloud. I had to replace mine about a month ago and had the same experience: popped in my SD card, synced, and re-downloaded all my apps (if that info was in the cloud too it would have taken 5 minutes!).Vik_Vaughn said:I'm on my third droid for reasons that are mostly my fault. I always set it back to stock, but you probably don't need to. As long as you can make it appear unrooted I think you're ok.
Edit: You'll get to keep your SD card, and your gmail account will sync all your contacts and stuff, so all you have to do with the new phone is customize it however you had it. I actually had mine back to 'customized' within 30 minutes of getting it.
Hawkian said:If I really can keep my SD Card, Titanium Backup and SMS Backup/Restore will make it less than 30 minutes. That wouldn't be so bad![]()
Why don't you restore sms/mms with Titanium?Hawkian said:If I really can keep my SD Card, Titanium Backup and SMS Backup/Restore will make it less than 30 minutes. That wouldn't be so bad![]()

What kernel did you flash?BigFwoosh said:Been running 2.2 for a couple hours now. Besides it syncing all my apps automatically at first boot, it's really nice. I guess some people would like the app syncing, but I use Titanium Backup so I'd rather be without it. I also pulled up a couple Flash videos on Engadget, and they were very stuttery. I'm going to try again now that I'm back up to 800Mhz.
Edit: It's a little better, but still stuttery. The audio is crackling too. It might be because the video isn't optimized for mobile.
The stock kernel. Moto upped the max to 800 I believe, so you can just run SetCPU and bump it up to there. From what I hear they will have a 1.1GHz kernel soon though.thewesker said:What kernel did you flash?
It starts out very slow because it redownloads all of your apps automatically. It took me 10 min or so probably before it finished getting all of mine, and after that it was smooth. If yours is finished fetching your apps and it's still slow then I dunno.thewesker said:Why did this rom run so slow? I wiped and everything prior. I'll wait for a more stable release I think.
As long as you don't overclock extremely high all the time, there's not much of a negative impact on battery life, if there's any at all. I only overclock mine to 800, and with SetCPU's profiles set right my phone lasts longer than it does at stock frequencies.ZZMitch said:How are you all overclocking your droids? Is it safe? Does it effect battery life a lot?
Thanks
It was slow before I even signed in with my Google account and still slow after I let it install the apps. VERY slow.BigFwoosh said:It starts out very slow because it redownloads all of your apps automatically. Snap. Well, I guess it is an early rom so it probably works better for some than others. Hopefully the new kernels that get released later will help.thewesker said:It was slow before I even signed in with my Google account and still slow after I let it install the apps. VERY slow.

Yeah, when you flash one of the kernels that turns it back on, WiFi worked fine.LaserBuddha said:Did you see if you could get WiFi to work or not?
That is ADW Launcher. It's available on the market.Vik_Vaughn said:Wesker, what launcher is that you're running?
And it is absolutely amazing. I'm never going back to the stock launcher.thewesker said:That is ADW Launcher. It's available on the market.
Maps works fine, the update in the marketplace is the same as the version already included in the Froyo.thewesker said:I couldn't get Maps to work or update, so I'm back to 2.1 for the time being.
Ah thanks, it had me worried. I see we have the new dock app in this one. I don't mind it though, the weather isn't bugged as it was with the 2.1 version. Nice.womp said:Maps works fine, the update in the marketplace is the same as the version already included in the Froyo.
Just ignore the market indicator.
As for launchers, sorry but the latest LauncherPro is the one to beat now.
