Mega Man 2.5D fan-game released (eight years in development!)

It looks very cool, and I wish him the best of luck with avoiding the legalities because it seems as though some real effort has been put in here!

And whilst we're on the subject of DCMA etc. I'm gonna lift this from a recent reddit thread that Ryan Morrison (VideoGameAttorney) made on the /r/GameDev subreddit:

No, you can't make a damn fan game. Yes, it's infringing. No, it doesn't matter others do it. O.J. got away with murder, don't try to do it yourself though. I've seen so many developer lives ruined (lost home, wife, kids, etc) all because of a silly fan game. These companies are brutal about protecting their IP. The reason you never hear about it? All settlements come with an NDA that makes it so no one can write or talk about it.

And also this, made me chuckle:

Why does everyone say SEGA doesn't sue people? That's the dumbest thing I've ever read. It's like believing a cop has to tell you he's a cop.

But I digress, looks like a brilliant little fan-game and I hope it stays available for anyone who wants it :)

Trying it now. It's certainly interesting. I'm amazed at how the perspective change screws with my ability to play Mega Man, lol.

Neat.

Not sure why they felt the need to include struggle animation (just for the trailer?) but the fact I recognize the posing of some of those shots from Bleach and the X4 OP gives the whole production a very cheap look.

Still, I wish I had time right now to play it. Maybe tomorrow.

Capcom is probably like "Mega-who?"

I thought I was watching a Megaman trailer and then it turned into Bleach?

Anyways, looks interesting.

Oh good, I'm not the only one who noticed that one shot lifted straight from the first Bleach OP.

LOL I was coming in here to make these exact same comments. I'll keep my eyes on this and see how this plays out and if its any good. Cool they were able to keep this a secret so long (or at least I never heard of it before right now)

It almost looks like it was made with a budget of 0$ and is free.

Admittedly based on the name alone, I was expecting a 2.5D sidescroller in the vein of NSMB and DKCR. That's to say, 2.5D, but with locations/models not designed to look like the 8-bit sprites from the NES games.

Speaking of which, the graphics kinda remind me of when some of the Megaman games were showcased through that 3D NES emulator that was released a month ago.

It's an interesting project to say the least, and I wish the creator luck. Far more interesting and competent that whatever Capcom is doing with the IP those days. *Side-glances at the recent Megaman 1-6 mobile ports.*

So can anyone help? How do you remap keys? I want to swap a few keys around and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it....
