Mega Man X hitting the North American New 3DS Virtual Console tomorrow (August 11)

This game is too hard for me. I'll get it and try to make a breakthrough, though.

Give it a shot. You might want to look up the boss order. I don't usually complete Megaman games, but I've finished X. I imagine input lag will be pretty minimal on the n3DS version. Lag is the biggest barrier for me on SNES Wii U VC.

It's the entire Japan catalogue, which there is no reason why the whole thing won't come to NA. I'm hoping for more in the future, like Mario RPG, but I suspect that won't happen :/

Wellllllll those Fire Emblem games are definitely not leaving Japan anytime soon.

I'd love Fire Emblem 3-5 (or 1-6, really, but I'd never play the first two) to be officially translated and released in the West...and Fire Emblem 4 is far, far, far more desirable to me than Mother 3 ever would be. I also recognize that Fire Emblem 4 is like the least likely thing ever to be localized.

didnt it come out on Wii U already? pretty good chance then id say

Vita gets the superior PSP remake, though.

Cue angry Mega Man fanboys telling me 100 reasons why the 2.5D remake isn't as good.

I'm one of the biggest Mega Man fanboys you'll ever talk to and Maverick Hunter X is fantastic.

It's not as good as the original Mega Man X, but that's because the original is the greatest 2D platformer of all time and basically perfect. The vast majority of games aren't as good as MMX, so MHX isn't special in that regard. It is an incredibly worthy remake, though. I loved it.

When you remake perfection, it doesn't come as good as the one already done because you add stuff.

I played it on PSP and then on Vita. But idk, the original feels way better.

And fuck whoever retconned the story and killed Dr. Cain.

Ahh, that'd be such a nice title to pick up. I'm waiting on all 3DS / Wii U VC purchases though until we know how NX will handle it. I don't want to rebuy, upgrade, or any of those shenanigans again. Nice to see all these Super NES titles on 3DS though.

My main gripe with that version is the use of weapons. Every single time I use Shotgun Ice, he'll shout the name every time as well. It's very annoying.

I own the remake also and I think you're just overreacting.

SHOTGUN ICE! SHOTGUN ICE! SHOTGUN ICE! SHOTGUN ICE! SHOTGUN ICE! SHOTGUN ICE! SHOTGUN ICE! SHOTGUN ICE! SHOTGUN ICE! SHOTGUN ICE!

I'd rather they kill him off in style than have him get stuck in a closet or something after X3.

This game gets the same treatment as Resident Evil 4 for me, as in I will purchase it on as many platforms as Capcom allows me to. You hear that Capcom? I'm saying take my money here.....

The X remake on PSP was weak, I say this as someone who adores MM Powered up. The X remake was uglier, the story changes were often bad, the level changes were stupid and the annoying ass voice for every weapon shot was stupid.

ROLLING SHIELD!!! FIRE WAVE!!

It's not a bad game of course, but I played it through as X and Vile and don't plan to return ever again, I will for X Snes :)

N3ds is great for having portable classics.
It's really is. I felt scummy for emulating games on the system thru Homebrew, but now I'm happily buying games Nintendo and co. push out. There's something nice about having a whole library on the system that really feels nice. The clickiness of the buttons, the aesthetic (especially with the Majora's Mask design 8)) and big screen really make it the optimal way to play Nintendo games. I wish I could hook it up to my TV and just have it be my essential Nintendo system, but it is what it is.

Now, if the NX allows me to port all my VC games to that system where I can play them both portable and on the TV, then we'll be in business!

EDIT: X fans, what's your opinion of the game compared to, say, MM7? I'm playing 7 right now and I like it, but it's hard as fuck. How's X in comparison?

Dr. Cain died offscreen between X3 and X4.

His death in MHX was actually an improvement.

I love 7 been playing that too lol. Not sure which I found harder. I do know they are both fun!

X is a pretty different beast from the normal MM titles, as they deal a lot of with expanded mobility options, especially with the dash. The game is far from NES hard, but it can kick your ass when you least expect it.

Will there be any lag - video or input? Emulation of the X games has always been a hair laggy for me.

Every port I've played on the 3DS, new or otherwise, runs perfectly. That include both Megaman games I own on it, MM2 and MM7. The SNES games are especially great with their pixel-perfect image quality and are just about the best way to play these games portable, legally.

Fantastic, thanks. I'll be buying it first thing in the morning.

I've bought nearly every goddamn SNES port on the n3DS so far, and this one is a no-brainer. I love, love, love Super Nintendo.

Finished the PSP remake, iOS version and Megaman X anniversary on PS2 and will pentuple buy :). Love me Megaman X through X3. I'm hoping Actraiser, Magic Sword, Knights of the Round make it over. Also I can pray SE releases FF and DQ SNES remakes out West too. 3DS and Vita made me a portable gamer this gen

Well the music is shit.
The game looks like shit
The game is easy as shit.
And X yelling his weapon names everytime he uses them is annoying as shit.

Maverick Hunter X is shit

+1 to this. Also they added story bits where they didn't need to add any, and it was all terrible. Totally ruined a good thing.

I still would have liked to see the series continue, at least until X6 (where they were apparently going to retranslate and actually balance the game).

Got an eshop card for this game two months ago, so needless to say, I'm excited.

About damn time Capcom. I'll buy the GOAT on pretty much every system I'm allowed to.

Does the regular N3DS have a dpad with any kind of texture, or is it the same as in the XL?

Not sure how the XL one is, but yeah it does have a texture different from the rest of the system and it feels great. It's even better than the pro controller U imo.

You can play an awful lot of Mega Man on a N3DS, it's pretty great.

MM 1-6
X 1-3
Zero 1-4
ZX and ZX Advent
You can play MM I-V (the GameBoy games) and MM Xtreme (the GBC ones) too. MMV is definitely worth a go, fantastic original game. It's in my top 3 MM games.

I woke up this morning thinking it would already be on the eShop.

Yeah, I actually just went on a shopping spree after browsing through the eshop, I was way out of the loop. Didn't realise the NES Castlevania games were up either.
