Men, did you ever have earrings?

I did in high school. One ear got infected. Took both out and never again. Strangely I used to wear hats alot in hs, then stopped that around age 19.

Earring? Not quite. I did have one of those hoop things when I first got my ears pierced. Over the course of a few years I gauged my ears though. From a 14 to a 0. Doubt I'll go any bigger.

Nah, it was associated with gangs and other similarly criminal youngsters when i was in school. I was too much of a nerd to associate with such fashions.

Had both ears pierced back in high school. Stretched them to around an inch a couple years ago. No plans to sew em shut anytime soon.

Got 2 in my left ear and one in my right ear in the summer of 95 when I was 15. I've actually worn them on and off since then, more off than on though. Recently I started wearing them again when I go out with the wife because she likes them.

Also got my tongue pierced when I was 20. Don't ever have it in anymore but it wouldn't take much to pop it back open as it hasn't ever fully closed.

I have 3 piercings on my left ear (2 pinna, 1 vertical tragus), one on my right (lobe), none of them are rings tho, just the regular metallic balls, way better looking.

I have 2 piercings in my left ear, got them in middle school/early high school? Can't quite remember. Only ever wore small silver hoop earrings and maybe a stud. Don't wear them all that much lately and there have been long periods of time (at least a year) between me actually wearing any yet the holes never closed up. I don't have a problem wearing them now either.

I got mine pierced when I was 17, just after graduating high school. Boys were prohibited from wearing piercings on campus, likely for gang-related reasons so I had to wait until after graduating to get my piercing.

I knew my mom would never take me. I remember blatantly telling her I'd get an earring and she'd say over my dead body, or some other gasp and cry of disapproval. So I don't remember if I asked her to take me to get my piercing after high school, but it was definitely my dad who took me. I think I might have just cut my mom right out and went straight to him. Surprisingly, my dad approved and agreed to take me.

So we went to Claire's at the local mall. Hey, it was the cheapest place that will give you at least 10K gold and a clean process. And despite the kind of boutique it is, a stud looks like a stud. It's a unisex earring that I didn't mind going to Claire's for. What shocked me even further was my dad got his ear pierced too! Bear in mind, he was 62 at the time and had never mentioned an interest in piercings. I think he felt just as impulsive and rebellious as I did.

So when we got back home, my mom was pissed off at me. She didn't say a word to me for nearly 3 days. And it was glorious. I'm pretty sure she thought I was gay for getting an earring.

Speaking of people thinking my earring made me gay, it might have happened to me only one other time. I was interviewing at a steel mill in western PA and while one of the human resources employees was escorting me somewhere, we were interrupted by a steelworker to chit chat and small talk with the HR lady. The moment he opened his mouth he revealed his flamboyant tendencies. At some point in the conversation, he turned the topic of conversation to me and made a comment about my little earring there.

I'm not sure if he was making a pass at me or not but it made me self conscious that I hadn't taken my earring out earlier (I always take mine out during job interviews; you never know the company's culture). So by the end of this conversation, it's painfully clear that this man is gay and the only way you wouldn't pick up on it is if you've never left western Pennsylvania your entire life. As we leave, the HR woman turns to me and whispers, "oh that's so-and-so. He's a queer." No duh, and wait what? You work for HR. You should fucking know better.

And in that moment, my romanticized Simpsonsesque view on gay steelworkers was shattered. Gone was the image of burly, shirtless sexy men with sparks in their hair. Instead, I got this creep. Yes I know that not all gay men are creeps but I got the vibe that this guy would frequent both sides of a seedy glory hole. Other than that, I don't think I've had any one question (at least openly) my sexual orientation or suggest at something.

And you know, come to think of it after typing this all out, I find it ironic that my mom was against my earring; she had my older sister's ears pierced as an infant.

Got my left ear (straight male earring location at the time) done in around year 7, stopped wearing it by the time I was 16, that shit was played. Jewellery isn't for me anymore anyway.

In the early 90s, a friend of mine had his ears pierced (two rings in each) before any other boy, which indisputably made him one of the coolest dudes in school. He still has them to this day, and that's only one of a number of things that he can't seem to let go of from 20-some-odd years ago. I appreciate the fact that he doesn't really care what people think of him, but it's kind of hilarious, too.

Never did. Mother never did it, and I wasn't into it back when all the guys were doing it either. I look back on it and laugh now.

Had one in my left ear that I got when I was about 12 or something, took it out at 17-18 and haven't bothered with it since (23 now).

Some people can pull it off, some can't. Depends a lot on what kind of earring you got.

Both ears in high school. And then when I was ~22, I had my dickhole pierced because of a girl I was really into (she had her nipples and dick pierced too). Took it out before we broke up.

Had one on my right lobe as a kid (around 11 or so), and kept it up until a couple of years ago.
Got tired of it and just threw it away, no particular reason why.

I think you made a mistake in your post.

I had my left ear pierced when I was a teen. Couple of years and then I got bored of it. Still can feel it and see the scar.

The left ear is the gay ear I think.

I want to have two earings on my left ear, 3 on my right and one on my nose to symbolize asexuality with a stronger preference for asians of either sex.

3 on left, 3 on right, 1 on left eyebrows means you enjoy black guys with black chics.

I make the rules as I go along

Wait .... WHAT???

I have unknowingly had the gay ear pierced for the last 2 years

I always thought a small (small is the key word, no motherfucking gauges) earring on guys looked incredibly hot, still think so. I'd never wear one though.

I guess it changes depending on where you're from, in Australia in the 80s the right ear was the gay ear, I think the locations were meant to be aligned with men's and women's wristwatch hands.

First girlfriend got keloids from having her's pierced. If there was ever a "scared straight" moment in my life, it was that one.

I just pierced both of mine last week. I think they look great. They aren't always visible though because I have long hair, so it isn't that big of a deal. I've always thought earrings on a man made him look more confident so I personally have a positive opinion of them.

Geez, I didn't realize pierced ears were still so looked upon as something feminine, or if not feminine than not meant for men. Some of these things people are saying about piercings are not unlike how people used to react to tattoos. I'll admit, I'd rather get another tattoo than another piercing. I know plenty of guys with earrings and plenty of girls with tattoos. They're just body modifications.. I've never looked at them as more suited for one gender or the other.

And to answer OP, I have earrings very similar to Colin Moriarty from IGN, and a smaller gauge lip ring. I would probably get a few more if my place of work was more lenient towards them. Atleast tattoos I can cover up.

I got one of those when I got my lip ring in. I used this steroid cream my doctor gave me to help poison ivy clear up called "Clobetasol Propionate Gel". It worked like magic. Shrunk until it was gone in a week or two and never came back. I've seen other remedies online for them but this worked pretty well.

haha yup.

Got both ears done in the 90s when I was 16. One gold hoop in each ear. Hoop earrings on men were cool back then. I mean come on... Michael Jordan wore one. Switched to diamond studs in my early 20s. Stopped wearing them in the early 2000s.
