this is... really disappointing. was hoping there would be dedicated servers. i absolutely despise having to use p2p when it's not needed, but i guess it should be expected since the console versions are p2p?

vac support possibly happening is a plus, though. from what i've seen the FOB stuff has just be rampant with hacking and shit.

lock if old, didn't find any threads about this, just the console version OT
 
Yeah, I played the infiltration and FOB stuff on PC near launch. It was pretty rampant with cheaters. No clue how the community is now.. VAC would be very nice, or I'm out.
 
The Domination-esque mode was a lot of fun, so it's nice to hear it's still coming, even if i'll only play for a couple of weeks.

There's no way they can put this out without some kind of anti-cheat. "maybe VAC" is a garbage answer.

Given the state of cheating FOB multiplayer currently presents, I'm considering playing MGSV multiplayer on the PS3 or the Xbox One. Sooo many players with ~20 hours of gameplay at the top of the leaderboards, so many of them with open Steam profiles that list at least 1 VAC Ban.

I predict this entire multiplayer component is going to be a shit show on PC. It won't survive not even as long as GTA Online did: today, servers are all hackers firing trucks out of their pistols.
 
Surprising to see them completing this after everything. They also announced new upcoming DLC for console MGO though no specifics.

I dunno man, I own the game on PC but everyone has said MGO is awful on consoles and filled with cheaters anyway. I wouldn't really care if they just said "no one is even playing this on consoles, fuck it"

Then again I couldn't even get to chapter 2 so what do I know. Motherbase and FOB and mobile game timers just kill the great gameplay completely. Kojima :(
 
Lol I thought it was dead already. Looking forward to it then. I hope they will add the option to filter matches by players using pad or keyboard/mouse, I really wanna play this from the couch but mouse players will probly insta kill me.
 
Shocked that this is still being released. I was convinced it would be canceled a few months after the console release.

Really depressing seeing the PC delay amount to what appears to be nothing. Maybe theres anti-cheat, maybe theres some killer features, but man they won't talk about anything and the delay just seems weird.

I neither own the PC version nor play MGO3 with my console verion either, I'd just rather them actually follow through on the mode they announced. And I'm pretty sure it's still active on console too and as pointed out, MGSV is still active on PC as well.

Yeah I'm actually pleasantly surprised they are finishing it. I have no idea of the quality of MGO since I never had a desire to play it, but it's good they are keeping their word, especially considering, you know, Konami. But what else are they doing nowadays anyway?
 
They better implement VAC not only in MGO but FOB's as well.

Would VAC make it so that reporting players directly from Steam actually matter? The player reporting process in FOB's has you going thru a site and entering your game code number or something. It's not that bad but just doing it thru Steam would be way more convenient.

Play offline. I've always been playing the game offline since day 1 and I've not noticed any of the changes made to the game. I read about them all the time, but money is so ridiculously easy to make in this game that I really don't see what people are talking about. It's really blown out of proportion.

If you've yet to start the game or just started, you could always delete the game content on your PS4 and play the base unpatched version of the game which runs flawlessly. But trust me, you don't need to.

Edit: Also, if you're on PC, there are many ways to bypass all of this I believe.

VAC is an automated service so whatever and whenever it strikes is always a mystery.

Also in regard to reporting(from their support page):

"VAC does not ban based on reports. Such data is only used for tracking and statistics purposes."

I couldn't even ply the FOB invasion stuff without running into invincible players, players who could lock my controls/inventory, and a couple people who made it so reaching the "goal" area basically froze the game and force a restart.

If this isn't going to have dedicated servers AND it's got no anti-cheat is sort of fucking dishonest to sell in-game items and stuff when it'll be basically impossible to enjoy them in a game without cheaters and asshats.

There should be a law that you can only sell "content" for a "functional product."

Well, that's me.

And I'm not too excited about this MGO now. Perhaps it'll cherish on PC in the next year or so, after the game got heavy discounts.
