I dunno about that really, I know of a lot of people that prefer MGS2 over MGS3. I am not saying MGS3 was bad. They are both great games, but saying that MGS2 was treated like a bastard child is plain *crazy* imo!Yoboman said:Crazy people think that
I loved MGS2 and I think many do. But we were still harsh on it
Yoboman said:That's not straight-forward at all. That's going back to Shadow Moses not MGS. Saying "is it possible to replay MGS!?", would be flat out misleading if that's all he meant...
Plus, why would they have such a trailer over a mere Easter Egg dream-sequence if that were the case?
Ynos Yrros said:What about the questions and words throughout the video? With RE signified, and most of all "Can MGS1 be replayed?". Sorry, but if Kojima asks those questions, the answer is very rarely "no", unless it's answered in the same video.
Ohh LOL. But i will still NOT SEE IT!Issun23 said:I guess this footage is part of interactive cutscenes where Snake remembers his past like you guys are saying. Kind of the flashbacks in MGS2 when elements from MGS1 were introduced. (Liquid Ocelot's arm and so forth.)
You might be right, but that doesn't resemble what was implied in the messages at allWrikaWrek said:No, because it's about memories. Shadow Moses IS mgs1, by going back to Shadow moses you feel like you are going back to MGS1.
The purpose is to make us hyped about going back to where it all started...!?
Right, you are re-viving memories, you are sort of replaying MGs1 by going back to MGs1. It's all about going back, it's all about Shadow Moses.

Up till now it's always been about the "Metal Gear 20th Anniversary"(which was last year)

No shit, I'm saying this is the first time they've ever shown such a symbol for MGS's 10th anniversary or shown they had plans for itZedsdeadbaby said:That would be because Metal Gear started 20 years ago and Metal Gear Solid started 10 years ago. Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh.

We've played through Mgs1, we played the remake, we saw shadow moses in Smash, BUT...we haven't gone back to Shadow moses, Snake hasn't gone back to shadow moses.
They show you shadow moses after the incidents in MGs1, it looks abandoned and in Ruins. It's playing with the message of memories, and it's telling you that you are going back to Shadow Moses.
We'll see, if it's a flashback sequence it doesn't make sense, why? Jesus people use your brains, look at the suit, look at area, it's not happening in the time line of MGs1. There will be flashback sequences, but what you saw wasn't one.
And it seems obvious to me that a Remake coming out of this...just sounds....well like it's not going to happen.
De-mon said:Yes. And Resident Evil 1.5 too.
Yoboman said:They showed the ruined Shadow Moses we always knew about since last TGS. Why would they need to make such a trailer then? If it was just the modern version and none of the messages in between nobody would think otherwise. That's what makes it a confusing bait-and-switch but a night setting, different suit, a spotlight and some guards and it would be MGS again already. Heck if they recreated the whole or most of the complex anyway (assumption), what's to stop them from going one extra mile and adapting that to a sort of remake?
You're being way too obtuse if you think it could only be about returning to Shadow Moses. Why would they use the word "MGS" instead of Shadow Moses? Why such strong hinting elements of a remake if it's nothing of the sort?
Yeah, I totally agree, I mean remember how all the trailers for MGS2 showed how you were going to play as Snake for the Big Shell, and then that's exactly what happened?Yoboman said:They showed the ruined Shadow Moses we always knew about since last TGS. When I was doing focus tests within the office, I asked the former Kojima Productions staff, whove since moved on to management levels elsewhere in Konami, to play MGS4. And they were crying, not because of the story but because it took them back to MGS1, to when they worked on it without sleep. Some even recalled their freshman years, the days they joined Konami and the days that changed their lives. That was just a small success, granted, but I hope that players feel something similar.

I'm glad Kojima never uses misdirection in trailers. Imagine how boring his games would be if he did!
WrikaWrek said:I'm being obtuse? I think you are the one seeing 72 virgins at the end of the tunnel.
Shadow Moses is MGs1. What happens in MGs1 happens in Shadow Moses, revival of memories, that's what i get from this trailer.
But i guess i look at it from a point of view, that being, it's a conclusion to a story, the are trying to make us hyped about it.
You see a remake, well, shit, more power to you.

MGS4 will takes us back to MGS1, its actual storyline, not an unlockable remake. And it will do so by taking us back to Shadow Moses.
Stop wishing for a remake if you don't want to be disappointed, guys. Really.
Uhhh, they showed Snake juxtaposed into cutscenes and gameplay that were eventually replaced with Raiden.Yoboman said:The MGS2 trailers never showed you playing as Snake in the Big Shell

Its not just, yknow, remembering what Snake did or what happened in the past. Its about bringing back yourself as you were then; I want people to think: I am here because I experienced those things back then. I wanted you to appreciate how things have stacked up since then.
Zedsdeadbaby said:That would be because Metal Gear started 20 years ago and Metal Gear Solid started 10 years ago. Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh.
Yeah, they never actually showed Big Shell in gameplay form prior to the release of the game. All trailers were cut to make it seem as if you were playing around the Tanker. They even had Snake fighting the jet on the Washington Bridge! The MGS2 trailers never showed you playing as Snake in the Big Shell
OK, I can see that. However, as I said, all gameplay segments were designed to give the impression of taking place on or around the tanker. The area where you fight Fortune could easily have existed within the tanker. They did, actually. They replaced Raiden's model with Snake's during the Fortune boss fight, for example.
I guess you're right, but I don't think it's the same as actively coming out and suggesting a REmake or something of that nature, only to be nothing of the sort. With Snake, it's more like they were hiding the truthproposition said:Uhhh, they showed Snake juxtaposed into cutscenes that were eventually replaced with Raiden.
See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C14upMsuEFI&feature=related
We see Snake fighting Fortune, Snake wandering around Arsenal Gear, Snake meeting Olganinja (just from skimming through, there might be other scenes of Snaketaposition).

No, I'm just reading what the text actually says and implies. You're just ignoring it looking for the more down-to-earth answer. Which is understandable, but doesn't make you right. The entire last 30 seconds is suggesting, to anyone with a clear understanding of English, that they are talking about the game and not the place
It says "THE CLASSIC MASTERPIECE RETURNS?" Why would they refer to Shadow Moses as "the classic masterpiece"? That makes zero sense
Then it says "IS IT POSSIBLE TO REPLAY MGS?!" Replay =/= revisit, MGS =/= Shadow Moses. Nothing there says it's only talking about revisiting SM. And it's flat-out misleading if that's all it is.
I'm not saying it definitely is this, but you're being silly calling everyone dumb for interpreting it that way

I'm guessing that you'll play random scenes from MGS within MGS4 as Snake experiences flashbacks.
I just think it's KP playing around. It's like how we got Gene Meme Scene Sense because of rhyming and cadence, even though it's probably not the right words to use if you were really looking to express the meaning of the concepts. This new trailer is RE this, RE that, because it makes a greater impact, from repetition. I wouldn't read too deeply into it, because they're probably using synonyms with a roughly similar meaning just to fit the pattern they've created themselves.Yoboman said:I guess you're right, but I don't think it's the same as actively coming out and suggesting a REmake or something of that nature, only to be nothing of the sort. Is it possible? What the f trailer, what kind of question is that? You just showed me it was possible, it's called MGS TTS
