Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes gameplay demo

What I don't get is
Why is Big Boss so old, if this is probably only months after the ending of PW?
and why they show it first a image of a younger big boss, with the patch eye inverted?

I think all yall that thing this is doable on PS3 without massive downgrading are on drogas

compared to mgs4 :
this has a bigger gameplay area.
more effects and lighting,motion blur.
more detailed textures.

thats a big improvement for being in the same console.

either it wont look like that or its targeted for current and next gen.
that lightning, maybe im wrong, doesn't exist in any current console game.
and no,developers releasing multiple good looking games on current consoles are not worse than konamis.

Guys, this is Kojima. He's got this shit.

the right half of this gif wont be happening on ps360.

current gen:

Fine doesn't mean they ran as well. Those 2 definitely run worse on ps3. I don't even think RDR is HD on there.

GTA4 wasn't 720p, either.

Granted, Max Payne 3 instilled a lot of hope of them figuring out the PS3 hardware, but the scale of that game is obviously quite a bit smaller.

Reactions are normal i think. The cut scenes have lots of things that, cumulated, gives a next gen vibe. You get fake cloth physics, lots of lights and flare everywhere, rain effect, shiny reflection map on top of things..

yea that cut scene was the most next gen thing about that trailer. With tessellation, better shaders, better environments it would be incredible!

Are we seeing the same thing?

Because while this looks great, I don't see anything particularly "next-gen" about it. Impressive that they've got this running at a stable framerate.

I have to agree with TM here. Let me first state: This looks great. I am... pleased by it. However, there were a number of things I noticed during the video:

1) Many shadows were missing, which kind of cheapens the experience. For instance, the boy in the cell didn't have a shadow, but strangely the cassette player he was tossed did.

2) Everything (possibly due to rain) is shiny and glossy, and not very impressive as far as textures go. Reminds me of how early games looked on 360.

3) This one is nitpicky, I know. Snake climbs up a cliff and then crawls through a bunch of mud, yet remains impossibly clean. That's not "next gen" to me. That's great graphics and incredible poly counts sitting on top of each other. I expect next gen for more in-game elements to interact with one another to create a more immersive experience. LIKE HIS BEARD AND THE WIND. That was great.

Also the original spec quote was this: Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes demo was truly amazing, running on a PC at current-gen specs. Wow. Source: https://twitter.com/kazamatsuri/status/241069939031674880

Read the words here for what they are. "Running on a PC at current gen specs." That tells me that it's on a PC... running at current gen console specs. When people say "Current gen" how often are they referring to PCs? Now if the quote was something like... "Running on a current gen PC" or something to that effect, it would be a different story. But the flow of his sentence "on a pc (powerful?!) at current gen specs (toned down)" infers that we are looking at what the Fox engine can do on PS360.

Did anyone else think that Chico was the headphone kid? Scarface gave him the Walkman because he knew Big Boss would rescue him and it was some kind of surveillance device.

I actually hope to play a Ps4 version somewhere in 2014. Don't feel like upgrading my PC, and current-gen... well.. I doubt it'll be a far cry from MGS4.
