Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes gameplay demo

I think it's safe to say that the 3-4 years Kojima spent on Fox Engine were worth it. I just hope we get an original title from the engine, would love to see Project Ogre because I am not convinced that it's a code name for another MGS or this one.

MGS4 with its stupid installs and all reeked of a dev team that didn't really know what they were doing in regards to next-gen development. Kojima took on an "easy" project in Peace Walker while the Fox Engine gestated and only started another big project after KojiPro finally got their shit straight.

I know this is a running joke, but MGS is filled with great gameplay. I for one love the cutscenes. I wouldn't want every game to do it, but with MGS it works.

Well, if we're talking MGS4 specifically, there were too many cutscenes and not enough gameplay. MGS games have always had long cutscenes, but in that game it was a joke.

IGN thinks scarface is The Fury from MGS3.

They also thought Tony Vercetti was in the GTA V trailer...

Wow, that was amazing!

Visually it's up there with Beyond as the best this generation.
I'm loving that we're still seeing stuff this stunning on such old hardware

Looks great, nothing really seems to be beyond what were currently getting from the likes of uncharted, gow, etc. it's basically konami finally getting their act together with next gen development.

On a side note, I hope that this gets a simultaneous release on ps3/360 AND next gen systems with better resolution, frame rate, etc

I don't know if this has been reported yet on GAF so mock if old, but:

CVG said:
The mystery 'Project Ogre' game in development at Kojima Productions is not the newly announced Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, CVG understands.

A trusted source connected to the matter claimed that 'Ogre' is the codename for another project, previously believed - though not confirmed - to be Metal Gear Solid 5.

Ground Zeroes, announced on Thursday at a special Tokyo event, is an open-world variation of the Metal Gear Solid stealth gameplay model.

Addressing an audience at the Penny Arcade Expo on Sunday, Kojima confirmed that he will be masterminding the Zeroes project. This suggests that Project Ogre is being spearheaded by a separate team.

Link.

Looks absolutely incredible, maybe the best trailer i've seen this gen.. the mood and setting looks so fucking good. Don't care about shadow resolution, AA, etc but PLEASE give me a stable framerate.

A game looking like this is still comming out on a current gen console.

Just sayin...

Is that game multiplatform and open world with fully controllable characters, vehicles, etc?

Quantic Dream can get better results by concentrating on PS3, designing a highly specialized engine, and having very little on the screen at once. MGS will not look this good on current console hardware.

So, is this new game for next gen or current gen? If it is for current, can they even do those graphics in an open world with 512 megs of ram?

It's for current gen (they obviously can't say 'PS4/Xbox 720 too' since those platforms aren't officially announced). As for the graphics, I dunno. I don't believe for a second they'll be able to pull it off on PS360, but ymmv.

The Beyond model there is much better than the MGS GZ ones.
Of course Zeroes is doing a lot more and has no chance of matching the visual fidelity, but from the gameplay demo there the only thing that's even a bit of a stretch of PS3 capability would be a stable framerate, the rest is very achievable

According to the established canon, it'd have to be Liquid.

Big Boss did train Snake for at least a little while. The first two Metal Gears are pretty shaky when it comes to series canon nowadays, but there's a Codec conversation in MGS4 where Snake explains how he learned CQC from Big Boss back when he was in FOXHOUND.

I don't see what is so hard to believe about these graphics being done on current gen. It looks really good but so do a lot of current gen games. I think the slick rain effects are covering up a lot of the stuff that would give away the "current gen-ness" of the graphics.
