No, play them in the order they came out since each game more or less retcons the previous one.

Only Metal Gear Solid games I ever finished were Metal Gear Solid the original and Metal Gear Solid 4. Criminal I know. Will pick up to finally play what I've missed. When two came out it had so much hate I was scared to play it and by the time 3 came out I had moved on to other genres and had no interest.
 
Have they stated if the NA version will at least include a primer on MGS 1?
My history with the series was that I never got to play MGS 1, I rented MGS 2 and got bored, and I bought MGS 3 and completely fell in love with it, so I was hoping they'd do like a 'last time on MGS' kind of like Yakuza does.

played MGS3 HD quite extensively at Eurogamer Expo, and checked out the others too. Peace Walker looks so good it almost looks like a new different game. They're all silky smooth and perfectly remastered, looking forward to this soooo much now. :)

In the order in which they came out, including the MSX games. MG1 might not be necessary but in my opinion everyone who get's this should play MG2.

So:
MG1
MG2
MGS1
MGS2
MGS3
MGS4
MGSPW
 
Just make sure to play the real Metal Gear 1 and not the NES version

I had absolutely no participation in the development of the NES version. The NES version was a pitiful title developed cheaply and simply by a small team in Tokyo. That was during the bubble economy where anything and everything that was released would sell. I came across the game in a bargain bin and tried play it, but the game design is pretty bad. There is some gameplay that includes infiltrating a base that didn't exist in the original. However, even I, the developer of the original game, was unable to infiltrate the base even once.

Furthermore, being Metal Gear, it goes without saying that Metal Gear should make an appearance at the end. However, from what I've heard, due to the technically difficulties in displaying the sprite on the screen, they swapped Metal Gear out for a gigantic monitor.

Does anyone know where I can preorder the Metal Gear Solid HD Premium Collections?
It seems only Playasia will have them later on, since all other sites I have checked so far do not have them listed. :/

Sheeet. Ive been searching on every site daily for them and Play-Asia wont ship the PS3 ones to the EU. If preorders are opening soon on Play Asia, then hopefully they'll be on other sites too. Which are you checking? I keep checking Yesasia, CDJapan and NCSX.

Same here. Hope their amazing work gets recognized by Sony so maybe they can make an original IP if they have the staff for it. Although I wouldn't mind them doing quality HD-Classics.

Pretty much the same as you + Playasia (- NCSX... should check there too). I actually contacted CDJapan about it and they said lots of companies placed orders to manufacturer for the Premium Editions but the demand was too great so they could only supply some of the retailers. They told me they would only be getting the normal editions in stock and sent me this link (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=VT046-J1), but I think they messed up by listing it as ZOE too. :S

Anyone know other retailers online that might or will have the Premium Editions?

Thanks so much for posting in this thread. I just ordered it. Damn, it's so expensive.... I had 3000 bonus points and it still costed over $130 Canadian which means it would've been over $160 each shipped with registered mail..

Pretty sure it's just a typo or they copy and pasted it wrong. Although I won't be complaining if my copy does come with ZOE. :p

I did indeed! Air Mail was gonna cost £22 against Fedex for about £29 so I thought I'd spend the extra to get it quicker and make sure it doesn't get lost. I once had my copy of the MGS 20th Anniversary Box go missing via airmail, but luckily Yesasia still had stock and replaced it.

Blimey I didnt notice that. It says unreleased instrumentals and I think I remember maybe a couple of small bits ive not heard on the soundtracks, but no idea on what eight of them could be

If they're a couple of the tracks from the MGS2 Substance Ultimate Sorter CDs, I'd be down for that. Like the mix of "There's Only Room For One Big Boss" from the trailer that has that awesome opening, or Document of MGS2's opening theme. More ambient stuff like the tune when you're in the Demo Theater menu of MGS3 wouldn't be bad either.

Edit: And with that, all the CDJapan preorder slots are sold out! Guess we better keep an eagle eye out on the other usual import retailers now, huh?

I know that they're not porting/remaking MGS1 but are there any rumors of something special or additional happening for that game that has yet to be official revealed?

Also, what do you think kept MGS1 out of this collection? I'm assuming that it'd take a lot more work and more likely a complete overhaul for that game compared to the PS2 games.

My guess is that they will have a full HD remake of MGS1 (perhaps even MG1 / 2) to be revealed next year for the 25th anniversary of Metal Gear, along with some other super ultimate set. They will also coincide that with major toy releases such as the Hot Toys MGS figures and the ThreeA Rex / Ray figures. Of course, all this is my own speculation and what I would do to make all the fans cream their pants all at once if I were Kojima. Hah.
 
Jeez I can't wait to play these games again and I have always wanted to play PW but couldn't because of the controls and it being on a portable. Looking forward to this collection more than any game this season minus Dark Souls and Zelda.
