Argh, my local EB still didn't have it yesterday. At least I'm not the only one.

I can't wait to plow through this collection. I played through MGS1 two additional after beating it the first time, but I intentionally avoided replaying either of sequels so I could savor the experience when I decided the time was right. I will be moving into my own place soon after living with videogame-hating roommates for 2 years. This should be fantastic.

Cute bunny picture aside, I haven't played a Metal Gear title since the first one on the NES but I'm going to try to grab this today. It's probably going to look really dated next to the 360 and PS3, but this is actually the first generation where going back dooesn't completely suck.
 
My local gamestop said they were getting their copies to sell today. Best Buy has never heard of it and it's not on their website last time I checked.

Good luck. I just checked my pre-order on EBGames.com and it STILL has not shipped out yet. Has anyone else had any luck?
 
Somehow missed this thread until just now... If the first game can use a PS2 memory card, I might go pick this up. I haven't played a single Metal Gear game, but I've always been curious about the series.

I was going to grab the Gamecube version, but it's still going for around $25 used everywhere, so getting three games for $5 more is a much better deal, assuming I don't have to get another memory card.

You'll need a ps1 memory card if your playing on a ps2 but their're dirt cheap anyhow so don't worry about it.

Luckily I still have all 3 of my memory cards even thought I don't have my old ps1 so I'm good to go once I pick up my copy of the collection tommorow.
 
What's the availibility going to be like on this collection? I had planned on using my $10 Wal-Mart.com gift card to pick this up but now the listing says that it is sold out and isn't availble in stores.


I really wasn't wanting to pick this day one...maybe a little closer to MGS4 launch but now I am slightly concerned that this collection will be limited in some way. :-/
 
Getting mine today, our store already got them. We get our shipments around 9:30am.

Oh yeah, only got TWO copies in. Looks like we'll get more as we sell it but I had the only pre-order there.

March 25th for my Amazon order. I also pre-ordered at EB the other day in case this would happen. I'll just leave one sealed to collect.

Yeah I bough 5. One for me to use, two to keep sealed for my collection, one for my brother, one for my best friend (he just bought a ps3 and his first big screen tv.)
 
I did get the call from Gamestop the other day about it being in today. I'll call before driving my sorry ass up there. Maybe pick up a psp game. Patapon or that Wild Arms awesomesause game that everyone likes.

I'm not going to front like it doesn't suck, because it definitely does, but i'm not too worried about it because i've got a couple months to start and finish mgs3 before mgs4 comes out. I'll probably want to replay sons of liberty, though... and fuck it probably mgs1, too. ok WHERE TEH F IS MY METAL GEAR?!?!
 
I feel like leaving work early just to pick this up. I have a copy reserved, but I might get another copy. Seems like stock on this is limited, so a brand new sealed copy might be worth something in a few years. :D

Same here--I loved the original, but only played it through once on a friend's PlayStation. I already own MGS2 and MGS3, though they aren't the special editions. Therefore I'm able to justify it.

Mine says the same thing but I Think it might ship today because when I ordered it earlier it said Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection Availability: March 20th. Ships from and sold by Amazon.com. Gift-wrap available. and now when I visit the Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection page it says Availability: In Stock. Ships from and sold by Amazon.com. Gift-wrap available.

So heres hoping it ships today!:D

Are big chains even getting copies?

The Ps1 MGS probably will look dated, but the other two look really well with the Ps3 upscaler.
 
I'm still waiting to hear if this package contains the old NES Metal Gear games in it... I missed out on that the first time around, I only have the normal versions of Substance and Subsistence and would rebuy it if those were in this.

Me too, though I want to say that the original Metal Gear games were available on the second disc of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistance, which is not available in this package. Here's to hoping I'm wrong...

Edit: Eff that homeless dude who already got his copy. Lucky schlubb. Eff him.
