PAL Snake Eater. In that version you had a theater mode in which you control Snake and you could play cutscenes if he stood on that tile. I don't know if it was in the US version.
 
I bought the collection yesterday and the cover art is really cool...

I never played MGS past the PSX version, so I decided to play MGS2 from the collection. Honestly, the fucking game took a swerve on me
and left me with a shitty ass fucking character named Raiden who doesn't even have anything special other than a fucking cartwheel dodge
. So far
I'm at the part where they show you (Raiden) how to defuse C4 with coolant
.

The theatre mode is exactly the same.

Just wanted to see how MGS1 handles the Psycho Mantis fight when playing on the PS3 before I started playing.

No, it wasn't. The PAL version got a slew of modes and features that weren't present in the US version. That's why Subsistence is quite a larger leap from Snake Eater for US residents than it is for us Europeans, as we already had the demo theatre, duel mode and certain other extras.

Basically: the theater mode in Subsistence is the same as the one in the PAL version of Snake Eater

Either way, get Subsistence. It's the definitive package...

EDIT: It does feature a new "Secret Theater" mode, which contains some parody videos of the game.
 
ok. But the Euro version of Subsistence's got this third disk called Existence and that's supposed to have a movie mode in which you watch all the cutscenes, with scenes added even.

I think I'm gonna go with the Euro version of Subsistence if I can find it.

Never understood why people hate him so much, he's identical to Snake gameplay wise. :S

It's just a change of pace that I'm not used to, that's all. I never played MGS2 so it feels awkward with this inexperienced rookie always asking questions on the codec. :lol

The US Limited Edition version has the Existence disc as well, but it was only available to those who pre-ordered the game.

Good thing it's standard over here, so I would suggest you definitely look for Subsistence...

yeah, but before he says that, the audio goes are gurgly and the visuals get all tinted
just like how it did for when the darpa chief and prez baker died, so I don't understand why you would think otherwise

shit, I'm staying away from the internet PERIOD when MGS4 hits. I'm also going to turn off notifications for if people log on/off/send messages. Its gonna be like Harry Potter 7 all over again, though I'm pretty confident MGS4 won't be a
disappointment

another quick question about MGS2 (I forgot how many parts in this game pissed me off). Im doing the
sniping boxes so the bridge wont explode thing and I apparently cant see the last one because it explodes when I walk on it. I shoot the two on the left bottom of the walk way, the one directly infront if you, the one in the back left of the walkway, the one covered by birds, one on the cypher, the two on the far wall with bombs surround them, but where is the last one?

I shot the one behind the flag, the one on the cypher, the ones on the far wall, the one guarded by birds, the two on the bottom left near the stairs, the one on the left on the walkway, WHAT THE FUCK ELSE AM I SUPPOSED TO SHOOT!? this is annoying.

OK guys, I am stumped here with MGS2.

In Strut A, Pump Facility, there is a bomb I can't seem to find and diffuse. It's right in the middle of a shitload of pipes and I've crawled everywhere.
I just can't seem to find it

the area where you hop over to get Box 1
but I don't know exactly where to go from there :\

Just keep looking around while on your stomach. There's some stuff you gotta crawl under but it's not obvious that you can. You'll find it eventually.

just beat Fatman's crazy nonsensical ass...."I've got beautiful hands"...WTF?

I try to save only on major events. So far I'm enjoying MGS2.

Tap the L2 button rapidly to equip and un-equip your rations, that should get rid of the buggers.

I'm calling shenanigans, you can't possibly be a part of a gaming community like the GAF and have never heard of Raiden and/or the MGS2 controversy. Impossible. Impossible I say.

didnt' submit to Ocelot's torture in MGS 1......I could never do it when I was younger and I finally did it. I was so proud.
 
This seems like a good place to ask. Recently I've been going through my Gamecube collection and this afternoon I was bored and decided to watch Twin Snakes cinematics in the theatre mode.

Is there something I'm missing but unlike MGS 2 you can't go to a specific scene? You have to watch the whole thing from start to end (Including all the main codec's it seems). Please tell me I'm doing it wrong...
 
MGS1 and MGS2 completed, MGS3 remains.

After finishing MGS2 for the first time in years...well, it makes the wait for MGS4 a lot harder than it was after MGS3. So many things I want to know about whats going on, I cant wait for MGS4 to answer these questions ive had for years now

Also,
Raiden hate isnt deserved. The only reason to hate Raiden is because of Rose and her nonstop talking.
