Metroid Other M E3 Gameplay Trailer

I'm shocked more people didn't think this type of stuff wasn't in the game. Trailer is a total response of the hardcore Metroid fan crying when they saw the action and CG and cried when they though TN was taking over.

Looks better every time we see it.

Looks like a RE4-type camera at the :50 mark. Don't think I've really seen that prior to this trailer.

I like what they show here, but one thing that's a little strange to me is that they use so many different camera angles. I don't really see it being a gameplay problem, but it just makes it seem like they can't make up their minds on what to use. That section where Samus is running toward the lower left of the screen, down the silver hallway is one example.

Just an observation. Absolutely buying day 1. Love how fast and fluid the gameplay looks.

Wow better then all the previous trailers. I'm definitely hyped for the game now.

Although i still need to play metroid prime 3..

The black guy had better be huge because I will not accept a short Samus. She's supposed to be 6'3".

This is the game that makes me buy a Wii.

I've been waiting for this one for a while. The closer we get to launch, the most positive I am about the game. Most of my doubts have been completely erased.

Looks like a mix between Prime and Super Metroid. Will get day 1.

It's every bit as bad as the Corruption boxart, with multiple floating Samus' and all.

Meh, the fact it's art instead of 3D renders automatically makes it better to me. Maybe a bit too cluttered, yes, but it's probably the least cluttered of all 3D Metroid box arts (bar Prime, which looks terribad).

God, I'm with everyone else. The intro to the Super Metroid theme was like instaboner, but I was expecting the theme to kick in with the trailer getting all badass. But it's still fucking awesome. Day 0.

Looking really good, and I love thew new organic environments. I'll be forking over ample amounts of money to Nintendo in the next few years.

Played it a tad on the show floor today. Really hot stuff and the gameplay feels 2D with the limited controls, but that's a good thing IMO. It takes a bit to get used to but you'll feel like a champ in no time. It took me a bit to get used to the FPS action as well to lock onto enemies while mid combat, but it does get easier as you continue to play. The game looks lovely in motion as well. Auto-aiming took a bit to get used to, but it comes naturally after a bit.

Definitely looking forward to it. The demo was pretty cutscene heavy as well.

Here's an offscreen vid my wife took of some dude then myself playing. I totally missed the lethal strike opportunity twice... :lol

Every time I see this game I get more and more hyped.

Here's hoping this game is well paced throughout the interchangeable 2D/3D, and seeing Samus as agile and athletic as in Super Metroid brings quite the smile to my face :D

2 months away!

I keep getting the distinct feeling this is going to be a sticking point between me and the game (which is among my most anticipated). Hopefully Other M is just front loaded with that stuff, and it tapers off after a while. And for the love of God Nintendo, let me skip that shit altogether, at least on repeat play-throughs. Fusion's unskippable narrative segments sapped a lot of replay value out of the experience for no reason whatsoever. Metroid is at its best when you can progress unencumbered imo.

At any rate, does the demo make it seem like the entire game will take place on the space station? I've been curious whether all the outdoor areas are just simulated environments on different decks or you eventually get to roam a full blown planet.

yup. always thought i was the only one who was bothered by that. and for that very reason: zero mission >>> fusion

Now that trailer has finally gotten me excited for this game. Looks like its hearkening back to the classic 2D gameplay without forgetting some lessons learned in prime. Good stuff!

Other than the character art looking horrendous this is all I could have hoped for in a new Metroid. Still not sold on the story-focus, but I'm sure it won't hold the gameplay back too much.

Thanks for the impression! There were three things which I've been worried about: 1) Will it feel like a Metroid game? 2) Will the new gameplay mechanics work? 3) Will there be too much focus on cut-scene and story telling?

It seems like point 1 and 2 are nothing to worry about, and hopefully the added cut-scenes wont be too much(I actually think that it's nice with some added depth to the Metroid story and characters, as long as it doesn't hinder the gameplay).

"Samus recieves Adam's next order: investigating Sector 1."

Oh boy, Metroid Fusion 2 confirmed.
Could be anything at this point really... Could just be the way the demo is set up, could be for the intro part of the game, or it could be like it was in Fusion. We'll find out soon...

What was that "concentration" shit?! Don't like the idea of a narrative placed on top of Metroid. The story should be emergent, not thrown at you in this manner. Gameplay looks nice though. Except for that concentration thing...

I really want to eat up absolutely everything out there on this game... but come on, just a couple months away. I can make it.

Trailer had me pumped.
Looking forward to S&P 2 more, to be honest, but that's mostly because I still don't feel like this will deliver a true Metroid experience. I wouldn't at all mind be proven wrong!
