Metroid Prime 3 Corruption Demo - Introduction Trailer

There was some interview somewhere or other where they were asked if there would be other hunters in the game besides Rundus (the Ice Hunter) and Samus, and they replied that there would be, and not all of them would be as friendly. So there will be hostile hunters, definitely. I'm hoping for at least a few reprisals from MPH.

Well, I was saying, I like that there are friendly hunters.

I understand the whole isolation aspect of the game and overcoming all these odds and obstacles alone, but thats been done so many times now - whats wrong with interacting with others?

Samus isn't the ONLY hunter out there, just "the best" - theres no way shes the only one asked to save the world every time. I think having other people on the ground adds more realisim to it - especially if shey'll be traveling to several worlds.

And shes been "hunted" by hunteres before - having some allies would be nice. Hell, Resident Evil has always been similiar themed thatway - lone survivor facing against all the odds in isoluiation - yet they always get help and team memberes these days. Why can't Samus?

fox is not a main nintendo mascot.

Samus, Link and Mario are.

Fox is always featured in their Who Are You? Marketing campaigns.

Though I think only Mario is the "offical" mascot - when did Samus ever get that status? She's not even popular in Japan anymore, heh. Donkey Kong is more of a mascot that Samus. An icon, maybe... but no more mascot than Fox.

those are soem very nice looking character models for the most part. they actually look like something that gamecube couldn't manage at times. there's still hope for moderate graphic whores.

Yeah it seems like this time there's a massive conflict between the Federation and the Pirates, and assumedly they've hired Samus on as a mercenary - and of course they'd hire as many hunters as they could in such a desperate situation. It's not something that's been done in a Metroid before, but it looks like it'll work.

Plus the part with Rundus that we saw in the 100% playthrough was pretty awesome, so I'm confident that this change is for the better.

Oh, and much like in MP2E, I suspect all those poor federation troopers will die like the weak fodder that they are!

Probably, but at least the other hunters are competent.

We've seen Rundus save Samus twice now - once from Pirate Dropships, and again at the end of the Ridely boss fight when she's about to fall to her doom at the planet's core.

If it turns into a good hunters vs bad hunters kinda thing, well then yeah, that could be an exciting change for the series.

Where is this video? I don't recall

the purple coloured girl reminded me off reboot.... which is NOT a good thing. But the game looks okay I guess. In a MP2 sort of way. :S

GOODDDAMMMN NINTENDO!!!! I would have killed to see this game with NEXT GEN VISUALS>

:(

Reboot is and was awsome

I'd say that those animations are fairly next-gen when compared to MP and MP2. they move very fluidly and those droids have a ton of stuff going on with them at a time.

lol, that purple-girl isn't going over well with the art critics on this board.

Though it seems as she wears a type of suit as well which seems to phase in and out or something like that.

If you look closely Samus is actually in one of the big mech things. Also, with the giant golem thing Samus in morphball form is in there too.

Exciting.

But, it is interesting to note that at this E3 we have had only a single pre-rendered trailer for Wii: Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
All other video we have seen are in-game video. This introduction is another direct-feed trailer.

If you mean rendered as in on the game engine? Then yeah

But if you mean pre-rendered as in Maya/3DSMax CG then no F0cking way! Cause then the SSBM opening movie would look better than that.

dragona will hate me for this, but I loved the trailers. Great interaction with the controller, and for such a non-FPS (yet still FPS) series like Metroid Prime, from a control standpoint I'm seriously anticipating this more than any other console FPS. I just hope that they tone down scanning even more than what was shown in that demo - I rolled my eyes a little bit when we had to scan yet another elevator icon to open it, then thought it was really awesome actually grabbing, twisting and pulling back the switch with the hand that has the nunchuk part of the wii remote.

I think that Dragona know perfectly that is a straight to have a own opinion, in the respect of all other people.

Anyways, it is still difficult to judge the gameplay with a trailer, but we have a ton of impressions of last E3 and we know that the use of the Wiimote is good, but it was a little bit too sensible. There is still some work to do to make this game a intuitive FPA.

Looks great, this is more on the lines of what I was expecting. The complaint I have is that the reticule looks horrible, its only a minor complaint but it really stands out in the trailers.

Could you tell me how can I view the movie? I can't with Winamp and neither with Windows Media Player. Do I need a specific codec?

Gamefront.de has posted some in-trailer images:

the SSBB trailer was a mix of pre-rendered and real-time.

i love the space scene :) <3

In video 2, when the federation trooper is giving Samus her 'orders' - is he self shadowed? Looks that way to me, but i'm just guessing. Pretty nice addition and if so - GCN2XFTW

Rebel Strike and Rogue Leader had self-shadowing.

In fact, Rebel Strike featured self shadowing for every object per scene. :)

Some scenes of the SSBB trailer were pre-rendered, but even those ones were using in-game models and textures, that's why the SSBM intro still looks better.

Where can I DL video 2?

I like how MP3 looks, although the lighting and some of the models need more work. Rhino Mech is too blocky.

I swear, no one read my post where i provided a direct link to the trailer and also converted the file to avi.

But if you loved MP1 and MP2 (i did), then I see no reason not to be excited about this. Even if you're disappointed about the graphics like me, it's still gonna deliver gameplay-wise. It's pretty much gotta, unless they hand development over the NST or something.

This game also seems like it delivers a lot more actual gameplay upgrades than Echoes, which (while I did enjoy it mightily) was pretty much straight up in that respect. The crazy new grapple beam stuff, the ship control, all that stuff sounds fun as hell.
