MGO Update! Up Now... Plus Downloadable Expansion pack 1

Uhm, maybe its just my imagination, but is it possible the update deactivated the ENVG for TSNE missions? I could swear I have not seen one single ENVG today.
I think you're right, I spent the last half hour looking for it on various maps and I can't find it.

This mode is available on fridays, saturdays and sundays.

What the fuck is Konami thinking?

MGO has some of the worst service for an online game I've ever seen. It's utterly pathetic. Three seperate passwords, shitty servers, overpriced expansions and even more server issues, you have to PAY to CHANGE YOUR CLOTHING and make a new character and now...a game mode is exclusive to three days?

What?

Not only is it only accessible on weekends, it's also only available for four hours a day on weekends (18:00 - 22:00 PDT). I think its Konami's way of limiting how many points you can earn for the reward shop, which is BS IMO because your paying for access to the mode...

My head is going to explode if I hear about any more Konami failure.

The community is still pretty active. Depending on the time you play there are 1000 to 2000 players online and you always find a good game.
There's basically no one using a headset, though. The voice chat quality is pretty horrible, too, so most people use the preset codec snippets, which works very well actually.

i checked at 2 AM in the morning in europe yesterday and there were 5,000 people in various servers/modes...

wow this shts annoying, im barely getting 56k speeds downloading this update through p2p. http is even slower. I don't know how I'm dl'ing from 14 people and barely breaking dial up speeds.

fuck you konami

I don't know who is the mastermind behind Konami's MGS4 milking strategy, but I am almost sure that he is a fucked up mind. Someone shoot or poison him please.
Snaaaaaaaaaaaake!

I will not talk about the geniuses behind the 'network' strategy since I did not tried to download anything from them since the beta early fiasco.

Why? Why? Why?

This is really bad.

While server capacity for myKONAMI has been increased greatly, it still unfortunately unable to deal with the extremely high levels of access which we have seen since the release of "GENE EXPANSION".
Therefore, we have introduced an IP restriction which will allow a limited number of customers to access the shop. The IP restrictions will be applied to random IP ranges which will change on an hourly basis.
If the maintenance screen is shown when trying to enter the MGO shop, this would indicate that your IP address is blocked for 1 hour. This restriction has been imposed to allow a number of customers to make purchases under controlled ascess and will not be implemented on a permanent basis.

We would like to once again apologize for the prolonged inconveniences.

lolz

I want to work at Konami Network department.

"Network 3.0" for Third World Networking Accessibility.
I don't know how Sony allowed that. Good job on both sides.

I am real close to saying fuck this game and moving on to something else.. I mean damn, if this is the best konami could do maybe they shouldn't bother with any mgos for any sequels in the series.

Let me know how those new maps are, doesn't look like I will ever be allowed the "privilege" of buying them.

I think you're being a little extreme.

Yes Konami web portal servers are crap, but so what if you might have to wait another day or two to get the expansion. Sure it's silly that their servers are this bad, but really? Is it so bad that you have to swear off a game? I mean seriously?. The MGO game is still great.

Konami should get their act together server side, absolutely, but in the grand scheme of it all, it's not a big deal.

This crap is an embarrassment to Konami they have made themselves look unproffesional and cheapskates at the same time by being extremely reserved on servers they are using.

I'm not playing this because I can't play with all my friends due to the region locked servers. Way to ruin your biggest release of the year, Konami.

Are they serious with those prices?

Been asking that question ever since the "starter pack" shit was going around. Unfortunately the answers always has been a resounding and dumbfounding "YES THEY ARE".

Konami needs to stop hosting on geocities, jebus.

On the plus side, the 1.1 patch seems to have improved the IQ, textures have more noticeable detail and the iamge is a lot sharper...

I almost bought the expansion, but after I clicked on the buy button the store website timed out. After that I couldn't get back on to the store. So I'm not really sure if I actually bought it or not. I wish they had just used PSN to sell this thing.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at Konami's incompetence. MGS4 deserves better. Every part of their MGO implementation seems designed to be the opposite of what makes sense. I can only assume this is all part of some simulation by the Patriots to determine the maximum amount of BS a fan can take before playing something else.

Wow, and here I though I have it bad being locked out of the shop for all eternity. Sucks for you guys.
One more thing:

You only earn reward points in the Servival server, right?

You can only access the Survival server after you have purchased the GENE expansion, right?

If so, everyone from the lucky country list is doomed to a "MGO Beta"

GREEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAT.

sooo... taking bets on how long it is before their server randomly blacklists its own IP and then implodes from all the internets trapped inside it...

this blocking thing doesnt apply to the game as well does it? the reward store broke the T&C page so it doesnt seem entirely impossible :|

...What the fuck? I was considering purchasing this but after reading that? Hell no. Its so unfortunate that such a great game is being ruined by awful management. This kind of cluster fuck needs to be reported on.

So let me get this straight, Konami forces fans to use it's own 3 password id system and completely separate online store, then has the gall to repeatedly underestimate the demand for the game and the stress on its servers to save the money that they get from gouging their DLC prices? And the survival mode one purchases is only accessible in a 4 hour window on weekends? Is that right? If so, MGO doesn't deserve this.

Don't forget that awesome time with the beta setup, and how they are now BLOCKING IP RANGES on the hour to ease demand on their Pentium 2 clusters.

I swear, its like this is one big test to see just how many hoops they can get us to go through to play their game. Maybes its a grand social experiment and we're all the lab rats :(

The Weekend limit was interesting enough already, but because its 4 hours and no other information on Survival Mode, it would seem to indicate a 'human' element is involved wouldnt it?

What is the 'stages of danger' related to? Will it be waves of computer controlled AI (in my over-imaginative head I'm thinking FROG's and Gekko's because that would be incredible but who knows!!) coming at you, or as I just theorised, will KojiPro players be hunting you?

Either way Konami has my money when I get back to my PS3 this weekend because I am a MGO addict, even if they are making it very difficult for people to give them it :lol

I now boycott this shit. I only want new map not something that I can only play at the time I will never be available. FU Konami.

Even with the beta debacle, I could forgive them for it since it wasn't a final release and thought they'd at least learn that people liked their game and wanted to play it. But blocking IPs now, that's not how I wanted them to deal with their increased traffic :(

damn it someone buy it or i won't have anyone to play against!

tried this morning and no one in the beginner:vamp server seemed to have it

so far all i got to do was be pwnd by some level 5 ppl in a four person game :|

when does SOCOM come out again?

Concerning this IP blocking thing: you do understand it only concerns the MGO shop, right, and not the access to the game itself?
Because, yeah, it's an half-assed patch that's really lame, but for it to deserve such a huge reaction from everyone...?

Wow that's fucking lame, they are charging for a mode? The pricing is just freaking ridiculous.

No point for anyone buying this since there's not a lot of players online. And Konami wants to split the userbase even further? Idiots.

Erm, no, they're charging for an expantion pack, that brings a new mode, as well as 3 maps, 2 skills and 2 characters.

coppertown is my new favourite (GG usually). not so keen on TT but its still a lot better than it looks

finally got in a decent sized room and CC rocked!! then got booted out because the mgo servers are down for maintenance
