So it looks like Bay responded on his official site

Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.

Michael

If they're actually working with a creator of TMNT, then it's Peter Laird, as Kevin Eastman left the franchise to him.

Laird is all over the place, it seems.

Hmm I just realized all turtle threads have that kissing .gif, all it needs is that image.

Michael Bay Signs $50M Deal To Fuck Up 'ThunderCats'

LOS ANGELES—In the largest deal ever made to shit out a movie, Warner Bros. and director Michael Bay announced a landmark $50 million agreement this week to monumentally fuck up ThunderCats.

"I couldn't be more excited to completely fuck this up," said Bay, who plans to begin production on destroying the live-action adaptation next month. "ThunderCats has a great story, endearing characters, action, adventure, space-travel, and fantasy. It will be an honor to run it into the ground."

"I'll use every directorial tool I have to suck the very life and charm out of this beloved cartoon," added Bay, claiming that the film could turn out to be the most colossal piece of shit he's ever worked on. "I won't rest until I get every last scene exactly wrong."

According to executives, Warner Bros. settled on Bay after a 12-month search of Hollywood's most reviled directors, including Joel Schumacher, Roland Emmerich, and Brett Ratner. In the end, the studio decided only Bay could be relied upon to deliver a 220-minute cinematic clusterfuck with enough tedious performances, overblown cinematography, and CGI explosions to make even the most casual fan want to scratch their eyes out.

"No filmmaker working today has Bay's ability to somehow direct his actors to be both emotionless and melodramatic at once," Warner Bros. CEO Barry Meyer said. "And I personally can't wait to see how he needlessly overcomplicates the plot."

Bay reportedly only agreed to fuck up ThunderCats after several specific conditions were written into his contract. According to the terms of the deal, Bay must be allowed to eliminate the character Panthro entirely to focus on the asinine relationship between Snarf and Snarfer, and include nearly 22 minutes of frenetic, impossible-to-follow action sequences that he hopes will annoy the living Christ out of audiences.

"We're just getting started on the storyboards, but I've already got a lot of really contrived ideas about zooming in way too close and shooting everything at nauseating angles," said Bay, who claimed viewers won't be able to tell if the climactic final battle is between two blurry elbows or a half dozen leopard-print pillows. "I promise you'll walk out of the theater feeling like you just flushed $12 down the toilet."

"You will all fucking hate me," he continued.

Hollywood insiders agreed that Bay—who has reportedly been closely involved in each of the 45 progressively worse rewrites of the script—was a natural choice to take a steaming dump on the popular ThunderCats property.

"Michael Bay has this innate sense of how to ruin a great story," Variety reporter Todd Brick said. "His ability to create astonishing plot holes, pepper dialogue with groan-inducing clichés, and abandon storylines halfway through is unparalleled. He was born to destroy this movie."

Though he admitted there was still "a lot of fucking up to do" before the script attains his trademark shit-slicked sheen, Bay has recruited hack writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to punch-up the screenplay with hollow characters and by-the-numbers jokes about kitty litter boxes and hair balls.

But all the time and effort, Bay claimed, is worth it to ensure that he fucks ThunderCats up as badly as he knows he can.

"Ever since I failed to ruin Scarlett Johansson's career with The Island, I've been looking for a challenge like this," Bay said. "Who knows? With Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and ThunderCats coming out in the same year, I may finally reach my goal of making all of America hate cinema forever."

The guy who voiced Michaelangelo in the original "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movies is FURIOUS with Michael Bay ... claiming the director is "sodomizing" the franchise by changing "turtle" history in an upcoming flick.

The outrage stems from a comment Bay made about his upcoming live-action flick at a recent media event ... in which he said, "These turtles are from an alien race, and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely loveable.”

Of course, TMNT fans are FLIPPING OUT ... since everyone knows the turtles mutated during a brush with radioactive ooze after falling through a sewer ... duh.

One of those pissed off fans is voice-actor Robbie Rist ... who recently posted a letter to Bay stating, "You probably don't know me but I did some voice work on the first set of movies that you are starting to talk about sodomizing."

Rist added, "I know believing in mutated talking turtles is kinda silly to begin with but am I supposed to be led to believe there are ninjas from another planet? The rape of our childhood memories continues ... "

Still, Rist tells TMZ ... "Everything I have said here could be off base and wrong ... He has made WAY more money at this than I have."

The only thing sadder than yet another TMNT movie being made is that people around my age are going up in arms over the disrespect for the franchise's "lore." And the saddest part? Well, while the movie eventually making billions is sad, it's not quite as sad as I feel how about this entire process from hollywood to man-child outrage to blockbuster billions doesn't phase me in the least anymore.

Damn that Alien Shredder. How does he survive being crushed in a garbage compactor, but as SUPER Shredder, he dies from a building collapsing on him?

I don't know man it just makes no sense. Why even buy the right to the use the franchise?

Just make your own space ninja movie. Heck, they could save a few bucks.

In 2003 TMNT, he is an alien. :P

Maybe the ooze will be of alien origin and the turtles themselves earthborn.

Maybe.

I thought it was confirmed that the turtles themselves are alien?

Really, like they are going to listen to people that will see the movie twice just so they can bitch about it.

That's why the franchise is climbing its way out of the toilet

The 2K7 movie was exciting and made a billion dollars

Nope.
Michael Bay's Brain said:
The turtles father, Botticelli, in a desperate attempt to save his sons lives, decides to ship them off to the nearest and "safest" planet in a space carriage. Unfortunately their home planet, Cryptodires, is being torn asunder due to it's now incredibly unstable radioactive core.

The space carriage narrowly escapes the planets death and whisks across the galaxy crash landing in the New York harbor. The tiny carriage is washed ashore and a hungry rat finds it, thinking the small container might house a delicious snack. he takes this "fortuitous prize" back to his sewer nest. After nibbling on the carriage trying to get to its gooey center he accidentally hits a button which causes the carriage to come alive with the buzz of whizzes, whirls and musical bleeps. The carriage then abruptly unlocks and an eerie green glow washes across the rat complete with ominous fog that flows out from the device and blankets the floor.

Then instead of some menacing monster emerging, four baby turtles stumble out and make cute turtle squeaks. The rat of course is surprised...but also relieved. He did have a dinner! He was going to tear their shells off, and nibble on their insides...but the squeaks! They were heart-melting! After caring for these little creatures, the rat noticed some changes. He could speak...he could walk on two legs, his memory was better than ever, he even no longer used his poop as an impromptu pillow. The biggest change though....was that he could read. And he wasn't alone. These turtle-like creature were experiencing the same things as him!

**editors note: the space carriage resembles a flying saucer, but it should have almost a prehistoric alien look. Very rough - like the shell of a turtle.

Joke post? The 2007 movie couldn't even cross $100 million WW. It had a great opening weekend and then dropped like a rock from there. I liked it though.

That doesn't sound too bad actually.

I know. That's the messed up part and its incredibly predictable. I have a feeling Bay would really want to play up the alien aspect though.

It was sarcasm. ;P

It's not just about lore. It's also about wanting a good movie. While it's not 100% necessary, authenticity can contribute a lot.

People now think the 80s cartoon turtles were too goofy so the modern ones aren't allowed to like eating pizza or say Cowabunga. Only serious scenarios (more Raphael vs. Leonard angst) and boring characters (Karai, 2K3 Hun, 13 random monsters) need apply. They're intentionally blocking off stuff that made them ultra-successful in the first place.

The new comics are decent, and the cartoon might stand a chance.

The 80s cartoon TMNT even discovered (on 2 seperate occasions!) an entire planet of humanoid turtles like themselves. Bay's concept is not outlandish at all, but his execution is going to overshoot and under-deliver.

The 80s cartoon wasn't goofy, just very much a product of it's time. Like most 80's properties, it's crap but lovable crap.

It was probably the most successful 80s cartoon, probably most successful independent comic series and the 1989 film was the most successful independent film for its time. It was huge.

Against He-Man, Transformers, GI Joe, and everything else that's a hell of an achievement.

I'm also on the anti-boredom angle because I bought/followed half of Mirage Volume 4 and the stories ended up not going anywhere, which is why I'm feeling only somewhat positive about the new comics.

The new videogames were kinda boring too (especially Smash-Up). Boring Turtles result in boring spin-off projects. :(

are you talking about the Turtloid planet?

The original cartoon (if not comics) was a really wild blend of pop sci-fi stuff, mixing mutants, ninjas, urban legends, and space aliens together. Cheesy in execution as any 80s cartoon, but memorable for the sheer madness and color it had. It wasn't one-note.

The business about aliens and turtles in this film could actually be turned into something cool; all logic and reason (EVEN by hollywood standards) insists that they're actually talking about the ooze being alien, and the turtles merely being wrapped up in an alien plot.

Which would have a funky potential - crossbreed mutants, ninjas, and UFO paranoia together.

It probably has more to do with saving money and time on CGI backgrounds (space is empty).

I not disagreeing with you. I am just saying it isn't so timeless that changing it would break the whole concept.

I think its Bay's goal to destroy every cartoon show from the 80's. First Tranformers and now TNMT. Whats next?
There will come a time when Bay makes a movie with Paul W.S. Anderson and thus causes the end of the world with a big fucking Baysplosion.

If that movie was a sequel to Event Horizon, I would be ok with it.

Wut, there was no Hun in the movie :P

And yeah, they used 2k3 assets yet never expanded much in the CGI film.

I'm still doubting that new Nick show.

If they're actually working with a creator of TMNT, then it's Peter Laird, as Kevin Eastman left the franchise to him.

Not correct anymore. Eastman has been more involved with TMNT projects for the past year than Laird has. Laird was last involved with the creation of this film before selling off the remainder of his TMNT shares to Viacom.

So I have come to the conclusion that there is only one way I can possibly accept this "alien origin" and that involves some sort of radioactive meteor/rock from an alien planet (or perhaps an Utrom ship, I would not be opposed to interdimensional floating brains) that happens to land NEXT to the turtles(ON EARTH BECAUSE THEY AREN'T ALIEN FUCKING TURTLES)

So that info is wrong then, or Laird wants to destroy TMNT?

It's been confirmed that is sadly ALIEN TURTLES

On a slight off topic note, I actually could see some potential on an original Eastman/Bay team up. Their predilection for Sci-Fi and sexuality could turn up something fierce. Live-action Heavy Metal?
