No. People knew he was an asshole in 1991, when they wrote a book about him being just that. But he was always respectful in the media, knew how to carry himself and he was just better in his profession than anyone before or after him.

And if you are that good and driven, the chances of you being the nicest guy in the world to play with are approximately zero. I know he donates a lot of money behind the scenes, but nice that he's speaking out about some issues.

And that "republicans buy sneakers too" was a joke according to the reporter who wrote it, and actually Jordan denies ever saying that.
