Nah, they should release their titles straight to their store and only their store. Valve did it. EA did it. For all the talk about competition being good, so many people seem stuck to Steam and refuse to give anyone else a chance.

There are some people who really insist on all their games coming from steam but it's probably not that many. I think there will be plenty willing to give the windows store a chance. Either because they are arm twisted with an exclusive game or because they perceive an actual value in it. Two ways to accomplish the same goal, and no reason you can't do both. I'm just saying I would forgo the former.

Still not sure what to expect from this in terms of scale/production values but for some reason it coming to PC tells me small scale indy-ish title.

I have a hard time thinking MS would commission a nice (presumably) expensive CGI trailer like that for a small scale indie title... seems excessive.

Ori was announced with a gameplay trailer... I think it has a bigger scope than that (which Shinobi has said too iirc)

The game was in development for 14 months when they announced it, I think it's entirely possible for it to release 2016. Can it get delayed? Of course. But let's not act like it's not releasing 2016 when we have no facts to prove it so. Many games have gameplay shown years in advance and yet get delayed a year down the line. Whether we have seen gameplay or not doesn't determine when a game releases.

True, but the fact that they chose not to show anything, even 6 months after E3 is totally worrisome for me.

We'll have to wait and see

Do we have any other media info on this game other than the E3'15 reveal trailer and Inafune's panel on IGN ?

I dont think we do. I really want to see if it's a fast paced 3rd person action game, or a really ''slow'' one.

I like sharp moves and nice combos

The former is a valuable way to get customers, though. Valve did it with Half-Life and each game they've dropped since then, so idk why people would be upset if MS did it. There's a vocal amount of people on GAF that seem to abstain from anything that's not Steam for whatever reason.

Yeah, I do wonder why they are choosing not to show anything. Hope we'll see something soon.

Only the blog about creating the glorious music for the trailer and what supposedly became the main theme of the game. The SoundCloud is about a third of the way down the page.

That's a pretty great score, thanks for posting.

I would imagine the ease of steam refunds have made more people gravitate towards steam lately.

Steam refunds are a relatively new feature in the lifetime of Steam though, I don't think that is a big part of the reason
Hence why I used 'lately'.

Honestly, at this point, Valve is probably some kind of religious cult for better or for worse.

I see Recore, Sea of Thieves and Crackdown delayed to 2017.

I don't expect any further delay for ReCore. I agree with the speculation that it isn't the AAA game some expect.

Crackdown was always a 2017 or later game. They have never promised more than a beta for 2016.

I'm also pretty sure Sea of Thieves will follow the model of other persistent online survival games and launch in an early access form.

Who said Sea of Thieves was a persistent online survival game? It is a shared world game. I foresee that as being Microsoft's Destiny.

This collab is weird. The Metroid Prime guys + Comcept = no clue about the game's camera perspective until reveal lol

The only thing in common between them is 2.5D but LinkedIn profiles say that its 3rd person and Unity3D. At least by the concept in the trailer & its setting, we can pretty much narrow down what the design could be if its a full 3D world. Exploration, platforming, item scavenging, story progression, they hinted some MP in that IGN panel so co-op ? (The core system could work something based off Soul Sacrifice), RPG elements etc.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if this ends up having any amount of mechanically deep melee combat you see in action games like NG/DMC/Bayo. Most probably not. Doesn't seem so.

I am very intrigued. Hope for some deep RPG-Customizations and leveling in the weapons and some really sharp gameplay-moves with fluid aim(not heavy/clunky arcade-style)

So now that MS is seemingly putting out a bunch of news about stuff like this Killer Instinct and Scalebound can we please please please get some gameplay? Screen shot? Something more than some concept art and a song?

For posterity, I've asked the individual devs involved.

Coming to Steam:
  • Cuphead
  • Below
  • Ashen

Windows 10 Store exclusive:
  • Killer Instinct
  • Gears of War
  • Gigantic
  • Recore

I wouldn't say the Win 10 store exclusives are 100% confirmed as Microsoft tends to dance around the issue, but it's very likely.

Ever since announce games like Cuphead have either been referred to as "console exclusive" or coming to "Xbox One and PC", where as things like Gigantic have always been "coming to Xbox One and Windows 10". When MS says Windows 10 or Windows 10 exclusive they mean the Windows store.

Worth noting though that games like Cuphead and Ashen are ALSO coming to Windows store.

I hoped for FFXV PC but i dont see it. Dat magic 60fps are gone

I actually think it's pretty likely that FFXV will make it to PC at some point. I can't imagine how many millions of dollars S-E have poured into this game that will end up having a decade long dev cycle. I'm not sure S-E will sell enough copies on X1 and PS4 alone to make a profit on this game.

Phantom dust say hi.

Anyway, hope they show something so we could stop speculating scale of the game.

Post-apocalyptic action-adventure with cool robots, made by Comcept (Keiji Inafune) and Armature. It was announced at E3 and there's only a trailer so far.

New game from Keiji inafune and the new studio from the the Director of all the of the Metroid Prime games. It's exciting.

Director of Metroid Prime games, you say?

Okay, I'm interested now.

To be honest it's a convenience I've grown used to; all my games in one place with a service I enjoy.

Any time I've had to venture away from it I've installed say Origin.
Played the game I wanted then uninstalled again.

I don't want to have to be bouncing around between apps to play my games.

The only other media I've actually used with any regularity since first using Steam is GoG

I don't have a lot of experience of recent PC gaming, but you don't really need to bounce between apps to play your games there, do you ? My only point of reference recently was Project Spark that I got from the Windows Store (not 10), and you can launch it from your system dashboard like any other software. No need to start a dedicated app to launch your games.

Same with Steam and Origin. You can have shortcuts to the individual games that effectively make Steam transparent.

What it's using in the background is relatively insignificant when it comes to launching the game.

For the cost of pc components it should be the best platform with the most titles. It is only fair. I say carry on with this trend. it gives me more options to buy games multiple times to soupport devs, if i believe the title is worth it, too.

Gears has a chance, I'd say, but I don't see MS making its F2P games available on Steam unless they need a shot in the arm. There's actually been one case where an F2P game publisher put its game on Steam only to pull it a month or two later and disable Steam Wallet integration so as to force an active player migration to the non-Steam version.

Did not know that

I was expecting to have to bounce towards another dedicated client!

Changes things somewhat!

Like what? The thrill of not knowing whether the service your game requires will still be available 5 years from now?
