Microsoft new place to sell hardware Possibly Sony too

Does anybody else think Microsoft and possibly Sony will start to sell their portable hardware in cellular stores and cable stores?
Having a portable gaming system is great but without a data plan kinda defeats the purpose especially in Microsoft's case with play cloud streaming.
I could see these things get sold on a 0% interest 2 year plan with a data plan. like they do for phones and tablets.
Anyone else see Sony and MS pivot to selling their portable products in these stores in the future?

Even not portable, like the PS5, you see deals that come with mobile contracts. Often you can get a PS5 with a new 24 month contract.

I did that with my replacement PS3 back in the day. Got a slim "free" with my iPhone of the time.

Remember that Series S promo? Sony wanted to do something to strike back but, unfortunately, Verizon didn't want their customers confusing the console with their router.

I've been saying that Sony and MS need to figure out how to copy the financing that allows the iPhone to put up the numbers it does. My 17 just shipped and all I have to do is send my old phone in and allow an extra $5 each month on my bill.

Console makers need to figure that out. Zero chance I'm shelling out $1000 up front for a phone. I'd be a budget boy AliExpress custom Android enjoyer so damn fast.

Oh yeah, I would definitely buy an Xbox every time I go to get my router repaired.

True, actually decided to bite the bullet and pick one for the back compat and.... 0 stock of single consoles anywhere. Just some rip off bundle 600 dollar bundle with gta 5 of all things.
Like you say too expensive for the only thing they actually do thats useful. Might as well just use a One X

At the price they go for new these days if your in the market for a console then a PS5 is a much better option.

If PS6 isn't a subprime lending masterclass, Sony isn't trying hard enough. People are out there making dominos pizza payments to Klarna or Sezzle. Chips are more expensive as ever, and the PS5 Pro gives them a somewhat high floor to surpass and still try to reach $500. Micro lending is the best way forward. Lump it in with PS+, PSN and whatever their gamepass thing is called. $50/mo and you're golden.

Plus, if you can make all DLC and in-game purchases true one-touch deals where it just goes on next months bill, I bet that attachment rate there will go way up.

One X is still viable but you can get a first gen white S for about as cheap if you look carefully for the right deal. Yeah they actually aren't THAT different in power but it sure is a lot smaller, and that SSD...it kind of depends on what you already had.

Would anybody on here get the next Xbox or PS6 handheld if it was offered with 5g or whatever the next standard will be from your cell or cable carrier and you paid it off in 2 years @ 0% interest. I think more people would jump on these things especially if they offer the free upgrade every 2 years that is of course if these things come out on a more frequent basis.

No, consoles will die, the places that sell them will only get smaller and move to online stores. kids want tablets, phones, and PCs these days. My kids and their friends all play on iPads and want PCs for christmas. they don't care at all for any consoles. sometimes the switch for Mario Kart. but not even peep about playstation or xbox.

On a side note it's pretty cool that us early 70s babies will have good chance to have lived through the first to last gaming consoles. thats pretty historic.
