Microsoft says demand for Xbox One X is "super high"

You've just linked to four available pre-orders...

I just clicked through to two of them, the Tesco one says “We no longer sell this product.”

And the second one, Game, says “RELEASE DATE TO BE CONFIRMED“

No I’m no expert, but it sounds like they are still accepting pre-orders but for the ‘next shipment’ so-to-speak.

The quick brown fox is correct. I've had a ring round, but I refuse to use Very even if it were in stock.

Also, just been to two Sainsbury's superstores and a Tesco to get CoD ww2, first Sainsbury's was sold out of all X enhanced games, second was sold out of pretty much all Xbox games, but lucky for me Tesco still had copies of CoD. But no Gears 4 or Forza 7, so they'll be online purchases.

My local GAME store has no extras for launch day. I don’t know how that is everywhere else

He really wants them to be in stores, but not for the right reason, I'll bet ha ha.

Local game near me has said they will have standard stock in Tuesday for sale - just no Scorpios. John Lewis selling them on launch day too, though thats pretty normal.

It launched too early and like you say, Boost mode wasn't ready and the launch was fucked. The release window was most likely decided to beat MS to retail with a mid-life cycle - I don't think it's "lol stupid" to suggest Scorpio influenced Sony's handling of the Pro.

When the Pro was confirmed as real there was talk about how Sony's messaging was going to be handed with the Pro as to not alienate the current installed base at the time. They handled it poorly, not because it was rushed, it didn't feel rushed.. it felt like they were trying to recapture the PS4 reveal while not alienating the base.. I also believe boost mode was a solution to the problem of game companies refusing to make Pro patches for their games or taking too long, it wasn't omitted from the Pro at launch because it wasn't ready. And sorry, I didn't mean to be condescending with my previous response.

Yeah, the way Sony and MS has handled their launches are 2 complete different methods.

Sony REALLY REALLY didn't want to upset their current userbase.

MS is just like "Ok, throw out your Xbox One's. That shit be garbage"

as soon as we get more support for 4K games , I'm very keen to embrace Microsoft method..

i do have a ps4pro but I'm going to switch all Multiplatform games to Xbox one X due to significant better results

Threw the business I am in i can see XBox One pre-orders across multiple stores nationwide (mostly) and a bit in a few other countries.

Of course pre-orders don't translate to sales but I think based on the numbers I have seen I can easily predict that if the PS4 sales around what it did last year during the holiday. Especially if its LESS, the combo of the XB1s and the Xbox One X based on the pre-orders I see might be able to close the gap this holiday alone.

(BTW, just joined, is posting NPD numbers directly still against the rules?)

I don't think neither is true.

The only issue I have is you really need that 4K TV to truly benefit (over the Pro anyway). Also I wish that they had improved the CPU for that price.

Well it should close the gap - there will be many that held back from the S waiting on the X and there will be the die hard fans who will buy day one...conversely for Sony it's business as usual.

If MS didn't close the gap then that would be a massive fail.

Kind of the extreme of reality but I can see what you're saying.

MS fans (well the ones I know) have a hard-on over this launch.

Are you suggesting the X is going to close the gap for the enitre PS4 install base?

I don't think you do necessarily.

There seems to be more and more X updated games that offer either 4k/30 or 1080/60, then the dash itself is native 1080p (not a big deal), add to that things like anisotropic filtering etc and more stable framerates which are visible regardless of resolution and I think there's plenty of value still for 1080p gamers.

I agree that it would have been great if they had used a stronger cpu, but they have improved it slightly. I imagine that AMD just didn't have anything suitable at this point in time, be it down to yields or simply price.

They are all the same.
They used to be sale or return with MS when the one launched, so stock was insane.
The lead in this tho and 2 sku's has to have had an effect

I'm not sure on a 1080p TV the gap from Pro to XBOX will be as evident as on a 4K TV is what I'm saying.

This console is a no-brainer for any XBO owners who can afford it regardless of TV resolution - likewise I think an upgrade to Pro from PS4 is worth it, but this is a no-brainer.

So what you are saying is that ms doesn't know how super high the demand is bc they don't have access to the numbers?

Since I missed this earlier...

Uh no. I'm saying knowing the numbers and publically releasing other retail stores preorder numbers are two different things.

The comments on this submission hopefully aren't an indication of where this forum is going.

If anyone wants it. You can still purchase the Xbox One X limited Scorpio edition from newegg and quite a few other online retailers.

Probably the best deal (no tax in many places):
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod...05229&cm_re=xbox_one_x-_-68-105-229-_-Product

The question is...why is the limited edition still easily available? Maybe scalpers are just cancelling their orders?

Yeah. Probably. Anecdotal evidence on here alone suggests a number of people with two orders covering the delivery debacle risk.

From that link:

Please note that this product is non-returnable and non-refundable.

Is this normal/usual? Seems pretty extreme to me for a $500 item.
