Are they at least going to finish that ET doc?
Remedy, it was never part of the tv original programmingWhich studio is working on the Quantum Break stuff?
If this means more resources for games I don't mind. Sucks that people lost their job though

It was a stupid idea ever since they announced it.
Xbox owners don't want original programming.
What was Xbox Entertainment Studios? it sounds like an important division to Xbox like Sony's SCE or SCE Worldwide Studio's or something, obviously it can't be that important with only 200 employees.
I guess anything is possible, but Nadella reaffirmed their plans to keep Xbox a week ago.
I guarantee that when Quantum Break comes out it will just be a game with some quirky Remedy style live action footage.A TV show also, Think Defiance

I thought the TV division was working on the TV show portions. Isn't that why MS owns the IP this time around?
Not surprising at all.
Its crazy how nearly everything about the XB1 has changed since its initial reveal.

and if Sonys foray into original programming succeeds then MS is gonna feel stoopid.
I kinda doubt they're gonna funnel the money into a new game studio or something. Just standard PR speak.

Bad news for those employees, good news if the money is going into games instead imo. Makes me laugh how Rare always gets mentioned, Nintendo didn't want them, they had the choice to buy them and didn't .

also there goes my future internship....FUCK!

I would imagine that is the positive PR spin of this news. Who knows how much of the money they spent on Entertainment is lost? How much of future spending was allocated to gaming vs how much is being put towards more profitable ventures? If this means more resources for games I don't mind. I know. Remedy just likes to talk out of their ass when at the end of the day they just make games. Alan Wake had similar promises.Ok.... I dont claim to have any insider knowledge. I just read/heard about the TV show thats in production as well
I'm concerned when a CEO keeps talking about "mobile first" and then mentions Xbox like they are in the same world. The Xbox is a console gaming platform and not a Windows Phone platform.
The single biggest digital life category, measured in both time and money spent, in a mobile-first world is gaming, Nadella wrote a week ago. We are fortunate to have Xbox in our family to go after this opportunity with unique and bold innovation. Microsoft will continue to vigorously innovate and delight gamers with Xbox.
Does not compute. If the focus is really a "mobile-first world", the Xbox division isn't the answer.
There is no reason to believe this will happen. Microsoft is simply cutting expenses.
They're probably just going to use the Xbox brand for their mobile products.Does not compute. If the focus is really a "mobile-first world", the Xbox division isn't the answer.
For all those who don't think Microsoft is serious about the xbox one being focused on gaming....This is your best evidence

There is all the reasons in the world to believe this will happen. Microsoft is in no rush to cut expenses especially no if it's at the expense of their future offerings. They can and will invest a lot of money into gaming if that's the direction they're taking with the brand.
This. Microsoft is only given $1 Billion for gaming investment.
I don't know how much they have left for it, but they need to spend that wisely.
