Is Beam a popular service?
Don't think so but I looked at a stream around the time MS bought them and it seemed like a legitimately good service.
Is Beam a popular service?
Are they even trying fixing the store?
Is Beam a popular service?
Streaming and not using twitch lol
Yes Microsoft, people will totally stop using Twitch.
Beam is better than Twitch. Very little delay.
I'm not familiar with Beam but Twitch is soooo slow, is it any better Beam?
Dat Dolby Doe
Thank God for Dolby Atmos support finally.
Oh man they really not going to let go of their 3 month success huh. I guess you can't blame them after all this time.
xD...And you don't want them to even try to push their own product...?
Wow.
Why not have MS advertise the PS4Pro also....?

Who personally OWNS a home ATMOS setup? Isn't it like 22 speakers? Let me know and I'll crash their place for the superbowl.

It is ridiculous that bitstream wasn't in the XB1S to begin with.
Dude, its Twitch. TWITCH!
I understand you can be a fan of MS all you want, but part of the reason all of game streaming/esports got as big as it did is because of the Twitch platform. Its not only not gonna go anywhere, asking the audience to even consider it is asinine.
The only thing this will do is cause MS to start securing broadcasting deals from events for Beam exclusively, which is going to be a dark, shitty day for all of live-streaming when they finally pull this off.

YouTube Gaming also is much better then Twitch.
But Twitch is the most popular streaming service, so all streamers go there.

EDIT: OS level friends/sharing is genuinely pretty neat. It's a wonder no one's done it yet.
But normal Bitstream Out is there. This is just them adding Dolby Atmos now.

It's more than that... the bitstream audio was ALWAYS processed by the Xbox and re-encoded, there was no passthrough in raw format (or passthrough with system audio laid on top without a remix). This meant that your source Atmos (or whatever) stream would always be re-encoded. Now it'll just be passed through, which enables Atmos (and I assume DTS:X).
I may have the terms wrong, as I'm not a sound engineer.

The one cool thing about it, is that it will make new streamers get big easier than on Twitch.
Monopolies are bad, OK? And it's not as if Twitch is a totally perfect service...
So say they get an exclusive major streaming tournament on Beam. What is so dark about having to go to beam's website and watching it there? What do you lose by watching an esports tourney on beam vs twitch? If the quality is good and they get the viewers because people want to see the tournament, how exactly is that "dark".
Beam is great and the fact that I'm rooting for Microsoft of all entities to try to take on the Twitch monopoly should say something.

You are correct...xbox one always reencoded...its bitstream was just passing through one type which was the reconfigured audio
Now it will actually truly passthru

You need watchers & streamers.
