You have made lord MAU very, very proud.

Good to see Surface doing well.

Not sure why they're bothering with Phones but then again if they didn't experiment we wouldn't have Surface.

The 950 & 950XL are really weird devices. They're neat, but premium priced with not so premium quality. I imagine they were designed before some of the changes they've made recently.

If they continue the Windows 10 momentum, they may have one more shot at releasing a tie-in phone/device that could succeed. Windows 10 Mobile is in a real nice spot right now (I think).

Wow glad to see Surface doing so well. I remember first Surface pretty much flopped pretty bad. But they stick with it and now we get awesome Surface Pro 4. I own one myself and loving it.

Too bad about Phones but if they do again with Surface, we might see great things with their Phones (Surface Phone?) soon. I have Lumia 950, while it's a bit spotty but camera is excellent. W10 Mobile is actually quite good and it keeps getting better.

"· Windows OEM revenue declined 2% in constant currency, outperforming the PC market, driven by higher consumer premium device mix

· Surface revenue increased 61% in constant currency driven by Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book

· Phone revenue declined 46% in constant currency

· Xbox Live monthly active users grew 26% year-over-year to 46 million

· Search advertising revenue excluding traffic acquisition costs grew 18% in constant currency with continued benefit from Windows 10 usage"

Weird how Microsoft is obsessed with active users for Xbox Live and claims it's company driven, yet everything else is revenue driven.

I just bought a surface 4 with an i5 for digital art over the iPad Pro. I have only owned apple tablets prior and after having the surface, I don't think I could ever buy another iPad. It's sensational. Doesn't hurt having native apps to draw with as well instead of iOS specific apps.

I drew this little Didact, Rocket League picture with it:

So MS needs to ax the phones and go all in on tablets.

That search growth! Impressive. That grows every quarter.

Do I count as an active user if I was searching for Quantum Break on the windows store?

and then laughing my ass off and keeping my damn money when I saw the €69.99 price point

Android and iOS are just unbeatable at this point in time, no reason for MS to keep betting on WP.

The Surface numbers are absolutely amazing. It feels like just the other day when Surface V1 was being announced and everyone decried it as an instant flop of an iPad clone... and now it's up there in the billion dollar club breaking its own records year over year

So MS needs to ax the phones and go all in on tablets.

Even better, since Windows 10 already supports cellular data, and comes with the Phone and Messaging apps installed by default; all they have to do is put a cellular radio in the Surface along with a SIM slot. Then they can merge Windows Phone and Surface Revenue together to hide poor phone sales performance.

I will give credit to MS for the Surface Pros. My wife bought one a couple weeks ago for when she goes on business trips and she seems to really like it. I haven't spent much time with it but from what I've seen its a great little system.

Video gaming revenue is up, in part because more money is being spent by more users on XBL.

Lots of ugly stuff going on in this thread.

That's a summary made by the OP, Ms outlined the revenue from the gaming division:

Gaming revenue increased $64 million or 4%, primarily due to higher revenue from Xbox Live and video games, offset in part by lower Xbox hardware revenue. Xbox Live revenue increased 22%, driven by higher revenue per transaction and volumes of transactions, as well as growth in subscribers. Video games revenue grew 9%, driven by the sales of Minecraft. Xbox hardware revenue decreased 26%, mainly due to a decline in Xbox 360 console volume and lower prices of Xbox One consoles sold.

YoY comparison is worthless in this case (as is the MAU number itself), as Windows 10 (the most likely main driver of MAU increases) hasn't been out for a full year, yet.

How is it useless? More people are using Xbox live at this time, than they were at this time last year.
