Same topic there gets derailed by post #7 :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Why even read that hate "forum"? My brain would hurt too much.

he used to read Neogaf, get a feel for the way the wind was blowing then repeat popular talking points and the seals would slap their fins together, now he does it with resetera which is like the old neogaf on speed,
anyway was expecting the dumbest justification for the why microtransactions, and he delivered, the rest of society can't bend over backwards for a small fraction of the population

that's a pretty damn good take down, wonder how long someone posing him that question would take to get blocked on twitter?

I did not watch the video, but I did look at his past videos and for the number of subs he has the views are pretty bad. His shtick isn't working.

Doesn't matter tho.

not all dlc is the same.
each type of dlc shoul have its own classification (VIrtual currenty, loot boxes, levels etc)
a parent or a carer should be able to decide which type of dlc should be allowed.

im sure cunt publishers will still get around it somehow, so the real answer is that as a carer you need to be involved. If a susceptible user has no carer then sadly they are probably going to be fucked over in life anyway

With a pay once and your done title the only way for it to sell is through crating an enjoyable experience while most F2P or even most of EA'S buy to play library is built of getting you in the door and then letting nudge theroy do the rest.

Its pretty easy to step back and see something is horribly wrong with a majority of AAA. What was there before it is easily better from a consumer perspective.

I still dont get the outrage over MTX.

I see a cool skin I will buy it.

I dont have an impulse control problem.

Lootboxes on the other hand can die in a fire
Build it and they will come… it is the scenario they enable as the game you buy/get at launch is just a pretty launcher designed to keep you engaged and try to manipulate you into spending whether they are artificial grinding tactics, dynamic difficulty, ML based product/add-on placement, new bits of content drip fed to you, etc…

The promise of "gaming you always enjoyed plus something" is how those GaaS approached and Netflix style game catalogues get their claws in… then once the user base is there you see more and more games getting optimised around the new platforms and their gameplay starting to change and optimise around the new model (as the service provider / publishers that was financing the first hit at a loss moves into exploiting phase).

A person with poor impulse control can make a quick bad decision to buy ANYTHING.

I guess we better ban songs on iTunes, and also chocolate and cigarettes too. Heck, just ban all products, to keep all impulsive people safe and sound.

MTX is a real problem these days but not because of "accessibility". There are so many good reasons MTX suck that we don't need this kind of barrel-scraping to make the point.
Except most of thing aren't designed to specifically target people like that and MTX in many games are.

"Is Jim" should be "Are Jim" to respect the pronouns.
"Jim" is "OK" (but not is the Twitter bio anymore) so "Is Jim" should have been "Are Stephanie" (or Steph).
hi I use they/them pronouns.
I understand it's grammatically correct to use "are" when using them in a sentence bc of the typical plural connotations. You don't have to do it if you're referring to a person by name (unless they've specified otherwise) and not using the pronoun "they" specifically. For example:

"are they okay?" Vs. "is aiswyda okay?"
