well it currently looks like cookie-cutter UE3 and it also means it's going to be running at 30fps on most platforms.

Yeah like they'll try and convince a court that they're going to make a megaman game.
I can't believe Capcom aren't shutting it down now.
I must have been high when I first saw this game, I was assuming it was literally going to look like this lol.

Sadly I thought the same thing. :/
7 days of development, composed entirely of placeholder assets.
It generally does seem like a bad idea to show early rough footage like this.
I'm not really sure what the point of this update is, though. It looks impressive for 7 days of work, no doubt, but showing a video and saying that the final game will look nothing like it, then.. I don't see why you show it to begin with.

Look up, it's on this page.Where's the target screenshot?

What's impressive about this? 7 days to make something that looks exactly like Mega Man. How many games have there been in the series? I'm not saying the finished product will be bad, but it seems kind of pointless for the devs to post a video like this. I dont think anyone is doubting Inafune's ability to create another Mega Man.
This will be an interesting pseudo experiment on gamers' knowledge of game development....
Looks great for 7 days of work.
Just hope they differentiate it more from Megaman in the end product.
8-4 has talked quite a bit on the Kickstarter podcast about the balance the team is looking to strike between classic Mega Man and new gameplay ideas. They seem to have a pretty good handle on what's important to keep (structure, tight gameplay) and where they can innovate. It won't be a straight up clone.Isn't this supposed to be a Mega Man game in everything but name? I thought Mega Man wanted a new game! Make up your minds =p.
Because that isn't a small feat in of itself. Making something look and play like a Mega Man game is hard. It already looks more like a proper Mega Man game than Mega Man X7 did. Even Mega Man X8 was a bit more clunky than that. The series hasn't had a good track-record when it comes to games with 3D graphics. What's impressive about this? 7 days to make something that looks exactly like Mega Man. This is godlike. When I was a kid, this is what I imagined the future of sprite games would look like: a playable cartoon. Kinda funny that all of the hand-drawn stuff fails miserably at it despite being created in a way that should make it look that way by default but the ones with 3D models are killing it.
It's a bit more obvious here:

It's largely a lot of texturing and shading work, and then using a camera that look straight at the characters.

In case anyone missed this before, this was never a sprite game:
