Minecraft PS4 out NOW in the EU

What's the world size like in this compared to the PS3 and 360 versions? I've never been interested in console Minecraft because of the pathetically small world size. But if they dramatically increased it I might buy it for the local multiplayer.

PS4/XB1 World Size = 36 X PS3/360 World Size

So, has anyone imported a world yet? Does the world size in the imported ones remain the same, or is the world expanded with the area of your old one remaining the same?

Uhh. Then why was mobile version made to be infinite size?
I said the wrong thing I meant RAM lol. Chunks needed at that time are stored in the RAM and between process and such there isn't enough RAM on last gen to do infinite worlds.

What I don't get is why there aren't infinite worlds on next-gen versions.

Blog post is super informative

Really glad to see disk owners aren't getting shafted in the upgrade.

I genuinely dont get it.

Whats the point of doing this? I mean, it looks fantastic, but once you're done, then what?

Thats probably why I never clicked with minecraft.

The point is that you do what you want, not what the games story or levels dictate.

It's especially fun in MP when you build villages over a long span of time and go adventuring and spelunking.

At least I should be able to buy it while I'm at work and it will be ready to play when I get home.

Sony and MS have save size limit restrictions that prevent them from offering unlimited worlds.

No the way 4J's engin works chunks are unloaded but part of it is still saved for when you come back.

What you modify in each chunk is saved, yes, but the CPU wouldn't be doing anything with that data while you're off doing something somewhere else. It's just applied to the chunk again the next time you get there. So no, I still don't buy that CPU power would limit world size. It just doesn't make any sense.

I've tried to, but I don't think the functionality to upload the worlds is there yet on the ps3 version.

Does the playstation version have the dlc the xbox versions got?

just looked and it doesnt look like playstation got the marvel dlc, are they getting it?

How do people design these wonderful amazing buildings? It boggles my mind. I go crazy when I've built a square house.

Because it's not based on RAM. iPhone 4 and first iPad mini have 512 MB RAM and have unlimited world size. PS360 is 512mb total and Vita is 640MB RAM. Then you have at least 5GB usable RAM on PS4/XBO. 10x the amount my phone has. Save file size is the only thing that makes sense, especially given the power and RAM size of the new consoles and yet they have world size limits.

Can anyone who has played it give some thoughts?
Edit: on PS4 I mean.

It runs great on the PS4 so far. No hiccups or issues to speak of.

Seems like all the bugs have been ironed out, ie: mining bug, world disappearing when co op bug, etc.

The new world creation options are nice, and the fantasy texture pack is great

i dont know if this game is for me.

I dont think I have time these days to just float around and building stuff, unless there is more to minecraft which I am unaware about.

It does have a platinum though... and it looks easy too...

Getting to the end and doing that is not easy.

Thanks, I haven't played since I had the 360 version a few years ago so this could be a good time to jump in!

Download the free trial :)

There's an end? I thought you just build stuff (Whatever you want).

There are actual objectives and/or 'story' mode?

Yep, there is a
dragon
to defeat in the end. It's entirely optional if you want to go down that path or not though. but from what I see it's not easy and would take you a while to get to that stage to be able to go there and stand a chance.

What's the deal with DLC?

If I buy some dlc on my ps4 would I be able to use it on my PS3/Vita? and vice versa?

yes..

has anyone uploaded a sharefactory or other video yet..? I bought the game for my kids, I already own the PS3 version, so I would like to see PS4 gameplay.

Does anyone else who has played MC have a stupid fear of using the emeralds you have mined?

I built a diamond pickaxe and then found a load more and I currently have about 30 diamonds but I'm too afraid of building anything like armour with them.

Am I alone?

It let me download the PS4 unlock for $5.95 AU despite only ever playing the demo on PS3, been earning trophies so it's definitely the full version.

Maybe an error on their end that's detecting the PS3 demo as having played the full version.

Cant complain for that price lol.
