The console version(s) are still way behind the PC version, right? My husband and I were just discussing revisiting Minecraft now that 1.8 is out, but we'd much rather play couch co-op than sit in desk chairs for even more of our days if the console versions are catching up in terms of content.

It's about time. Wasn't it originally supposed to be out in the spring?

First part of your post I thought you were like me... couldn't wait for this to make the jump to the X1 from 360. I know.. I agree. About time! Love it!

Never been particularly interested in this title. I understand it's draw, but it doesn't grab me.

Then I saw you saw your second part of the post. Pretty much confused me since you don't have any interest and it doesn't grab you.

Sounds like people could go to Gamestop, buy / return a copy after "upgrading."

Then I saw the concern.... I understand now.

I for one am super stoked for this to finally come out. Only 5 bucks for an upgrade is great in my book. My 3 year old loved watching Minecraft on the 360, but since we upgraded to the X1 in November we haven't played anymore and he's always asking.. "Where's the Creepers?" ha.. nice. My only wish was they had some kind of rent a server type thing, or that their cloud servers made it where the person who makes the game, they don't have to be singed on for everyone else to play on it still.

That would be awesome.

I have never played this game. I am not interested in building elaborate structures but the open world exploration/survival sounds appealing. Does it work on that level?

Far too late now with Destiny around the corner. Was hoping for an early August release at the latest. Guess I'll pick it up in a few months.

The game just accident up in Hong Kong live store, and the price is...HK$2249(US$290) lol

Never played Minecraft before but always wanted to play it. Definitely going to get it at some point. Not sure if I want it now with destiny around the corner.

Don't think you do. As soon as it came up when I searched for hit, it had a slash through the $19.99 price and it said $4.99.

Thanks. I was thinking of grabbing it if I can get if for the upgrade price, which it looks like I sbould be able to as I played the 360 version for about an hour when it came out.

Not a big fan, but for less than a fiver? I'll give it a second chance.

36 times bigger world isn't a huge difference (exploration is my favorite part of minecraft), but for 5 bucks I'll bite.

Edit:

I found it on the US store but it's not giving me the discount for some reason. Guess I'll wait till Friday.

Edit 2:

Gave me the discount; downloading now.

Playing it now. It's very possible that I'm seeing what I want to see, but everything just seems a bit *cleaner* across the board.

Digital only? Isn`t the Xbox One version getting a retail version as well?
Minecraft enters the next generation with the release of Minecraft: Xbox One Edition (ESRB rating E10+), available Friday, Sept. 5 for download in the Xbox Store. Owners of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition can upgrade for just $4.99* USD, or new players can download the full game for $19.99 USD. All downloadable content players have purchased for the Xbox 360 Edition is available free for re-download on Xbox One.

With worlds up to 36 times larger than on Xbox 360, now there’s an even bigger canvas to create on. Transfer your favorite Xbox 360 worlds and content to the Xbox One Edition so you won’t lose your creations. Join a community of 13-million-plus Minecraft fans on Xbox Live that are continually laying down imaginative creations. And, with the widest range of downloadable content on console, you’ll never run out of new worlds to explore with four player split-screen on one console or up to eight players over Xbox Live.**

Xbox is about giving players a choice - even in how you buy your game. Starting Friday, players can purchase and download the Minecraft: Xbox One Edition upgrade or full game from the Xbox Store with either a credit card or an Xbox Gift Card purchased at retail. Later this month, select retailers will sell the full game Digital Download Code and the full game packaged disc will be on retail store shelves globally this holiday, just in time for gift giving.
