I completely understood the implications of this, but it might be nice to add a summary explaining it for those that might not...

Can't wait for Madusa Premium PC Handhelds...
So Medusa Premium has 12 Core CPU, with 4 Zen 6 cores. What do you think, will the Xbox handhelds simply use the default SOC or do a Magnus AT4?

Regarding the video, MLID pointed out that Project Green Leaf would be great for Xbox handhelds.

But he missed the biggest reason for it, energy savings for Cloud Gaming in datacenters. Not just for xCloud but for all other PC streaming services that can run games from Xbox PC too.

But biggest beneficiary being xCloud, being able to run powerful Magnus AT0 based hardware at 30-35% less energy costs.

Keppy insists there are no plans for custom AT4 gaming SoC outside of Madusa Premium so we are SOL and stuck wasting all those full Zen 6 core on them handhelds...

I'd have configured XBox Minimus APU with 3+5 config like Z2E.

"Xbox Wants to Make PS5 Games More Efficient"

Just when I thought Asha couldn't make my balls any bluer. My no.1 sony ceo ever.

Anyone wanna summarize the relevant parts?
Power Optimized and Power Optimized + store tags incoming, as soon as June. Basically, rather than a low power mode for Console, which is what Sony is doing, MS is taking a different approach to saving energy, with the games themselves being Optimized to reduce energy up to 30-35%. Like on menu screens, it would cut framerates, or in dark areas, reduce resolutions etc.

MLID thinks Sony's approach isnt really a Power saving mode but a PS6 handheld compatibility mode in disguise. He thinks MS approach is far superior as it doesn't limit the hardware cores, and gives devs a lot more flexibility.

As long as devs can demonstrate the targets reached, they can get the Power Optimized store tag, similar to Handheld Optimized.

He quoted Jason Ronald keynote multiple times regarding the portfolio of devices. And that the MS approach will give Xbox an advantage on Laptops and Handhelds compared to Steam. He felt good about a lot of Xbox decisions including the decision to cancel gaming copilot.

He said Xbox is doing a lot of good things to make developers work much easier to support the Xbox ecosystem.

Listen to the video anyways. There are more specifics.

Both those things would be very limited and the game consumption should be at max level in most case in the demanding games. And reducing resolutions in dark areas has already been tried with VRS. it's not giving good results and most of the developers either don't use it or have removed it after people complained.

Nowadays effects are tied with resolution and reducing resolution will have a big impact on lighting, RT, PT of the whole scene. Developers just won't use it.

And yes the Lower power mode of PS5 is there for the handheld, and for nothing else. PS6 could have one for the handheld too, with harsher restrictions obviously. We'll see.
