Game must be done if IW is on GAF.
Well I'm sure it's possible some IW employees like posting on gaming sites in their freetime, too. BTW if a IW employee sees this post I am looking for a job and would love to work at IW as a programmer =P

(Actually, I AM looking for a programming job, and I live just outside Santa Monica, if that's convenient.)

haha, free time... that's a good one!

They are probably just getting valuable info on what the community has to say about the trailer, what they loved, liked and hated.

Every favorable post on GAF means one less beating from their Activision overlords.

The game looks good. Try to make sure gameplay elements are better balanced before the release. Make better looking explosions (probably too late for that now). That's all my input.

Looks great, but I still don't understand their logic behind giving the guys that play the best, even better weapons?

It absolutely doesn't make any sense that if you get 11 kills in a row, you get a fucking bomber. You already got 11 kills without dying, if anything the OTHER team NEEDS a bomber to get back into the game. Granted, it's basically taking pity on them, but if the teams are so unbalanced as they are getting such high kill streaks, then I honestly don't know why you'd widen the gap...

It just doesn't make any sense!

It can make things very one sided in Team Deathmatch but it is a very cool strategic option in modes like Headquarters and Sabotage. The only problem is when the guy on your team that you know is spawning with the RPG perk every time won't shoot anything down because he is too busy camping for head shots. :lol

It also makes getting kills on the other team's best player a priority so they can't keep calling them in.

By this logic, it was also 120fps, or 15fps, PC specs vary and so you can't define a PC game by it's framerate.
Hahah, well sure. It was a ~30fps game for me, when I played it on my old busted rig. =)

What I mean, though, is: It's a PC dev's responsibility to target a certain level of hardware, otherwise performance (and then the whole experience) is a total crapshoot. IW has always targeted 60hz. You're right though; PC fps will always be a soft target, and it's probably awfully tempting to just assume the customer can go get a better video card. =)

But yeah, 60hz is the IW rule, fwiw.

Or it's an exciting day with the first-ever MP footage released. Though... each minute reading a forum means you're an extra minute away from having your stuff done (and shipping). So. Dammit.

Hmm, I beat Call of Duty 2, never had any real problems. I was amazed at how smooth the game was compared to other games back during the Xbox 360 launch. Keep with it though.
Oh it was definitely smooth, but compared to Perfect Dark Zero or even FPS games coming out on 360 to this day, most of them don't even manage a consistent 30fps. You can say "Oh haha he's arguing with someone who made the game what a tard", except the fact is that a game like Gears of War 2 is ACTUALLY locked at 30fps for 99% of the game, and to my recollection was smoother than Call of Duty 2 was, even though that was apparently "60 fps" and was just very inconsistent at keeping that up compared to CoD4 and MW2. The human eye can get very used to watching a certain framerate, and it can sometimes give the appearance of being smoother if you lock it at 30 and it doesn't fluctuate. Because CoD2 probably only ever hit the target when there was little action on the screen, I guess it was hard for me to appreciate it because I didn't even realize it ran at 60hz.

But boy, it didn't take long for people to jump on me like every post I make from here on out is immediately invalidated. I don't even know why I'm arguing this... I've loved every CoD game since the first, I'm just saying try going back and playing Hill 400 on Veteran and then play Charlie Don't Surf and tell me which one looks fucking smoother. That is all.

And I think you did an better (excellent) job of hitting the HARD console targets with your latest two installments. :D

Looked hot.

As to the SP, if IW really ARE lurking, get rid of the fucking infinitely spawning enemies. PLEASE. Fuck them off.

(Unless they have and I didn't hear about it, in which case thanks.)

I'm curious to see how the shotguns function in this game.

My biggest problem with CoD4 was that from a certain distance a shotgun would do absolutely no damage, and then 5 feet closer it's an instant kill..

I also wonder how they've altered the balance considering that there's now also an under barrel shotgun attachment.

Lol no it's not. Same engine. Barely any update to the graphics. They just added some color and people think it's amazing. Same thing with Gears of War 2.

Both games look noticeably better. As does Uncharted 2 for example, but I don't think any of those games look "OMG" better than their predecessor.

I don't think ANY game has done that this gen.

The only game that would stand a chance of doing so would be Halo Reach or Perfect Dark 2, only because THEIR predecessors didn't set the bar all that high to begin with.

I must be blind. I think it looks pretty nice. :lol

The colors are much more vibrant, which is a nice change of pace, and the lighting is significantly better. It also looks like there are plenty of objects to be flung about during the fights, which will be awesome to watch in large firefights.

IIRC, we don't know if that's true or not.
The first full length trailer that they released on the MW2 site with an incredible bitrate and at 60fps, showed a guy firing a few shots from his gun and then running through a doorway past a flaming motorcycle. The weapon he's holding is pretty clearly a Fabrique Nationale F2000 bullpup with a KAC MasterKey attached to the underside. It is obviously not part of the gun itself, and extends way farther than a grenade launcher would.

Personally I'm looking forward to the single-player also. COD4 had some really cool moments in the single-player so I'm sure IW has a few cool tricks up their sleeves for this game (hopefully).

Not sure what you mean.

If they use the same engine as Halo 3, then obviously it won't be much, but I read somewhere they WEREN'T going to use the Halo 3 engine.

I could be wrong.
No no no, I just meant that you felt the need to list Halo 3 among the likes of Perfect Dark Zero as games that you weren't graphically impressed by, that you think can have a huge leap for the sequel with a new engine, and it seemed like a rib at Halo fans especially in a Call of Duty thread. :D

Eh, I was mostly talking about perk and weapon unlocks.

As for streak bonuses, I think they work pretty well. They don't really get that many kills
Yes they do. I'm not a great player, but of the few times I had airstrikes, it was laughable how many kills I would get. They're incredibly unbalanced. I know somebody's gonna go hardcore testosterone crazy ("YOU'RE JUST SAYING THAT CAUSE YOU SUCK ASS!!!") over this post and I really don't give a fuck. Some of the killstreak benefits nearly broke the game.

I was pretty good at the game, and would hardly ever get hit by airstrikes...sometime I'd call one in and it wouldn't even kill anyone! Craziness!

what game were you playing?

Seriously? Airstrikes streaks would keep me going forever. You could wipe out a whole team with a well timed air strike after a UAV. If your team kills all the others at about the same time and they spawn in an uncovered area its basically and "I win button" for spawn killing from then on out.

Aside from the spawn airstrikes, they aren't THAT hard to avoid. You get fair warning that they're coming and if I remember right you can tell the direction they're coming from on the radar. As soon as I would hear one coming, I'd book it into the nearest building or just run like Gump until it was over.

I have never seen air strikes kill that many people except in certain circumstances. The most kills (this is on the console versions) seem to be in team objective games when you drop one near a heavily contested objective, or if you are playing shipyard? (the small square lvl with shipping containers all around) in which case shit is flying everywhere anyways.

I only play Hardcore so maybe there's a difference, but I only ever saw maybe three kills at most.

Exactly, shipment and the boat map are the only two maps where I could consistently get a shit ton of kills from an airstrike, because everyone is crammed together with few places to hide.

i shall wait to buy this used as i have made a vow to buy everygame that says activision on the box is automatically a used purchase

Shipment is crazy, but a good break from the norm. We were playing Headquarters and the first HQ spawned in the middle. No one got it the entire game.

Edit: just read about these pc games with like 40 people. That would be like shipment every time. Crazy.

Oh god...I would spawn in an airstrike so many times there.

Well eversince they sued Tim Schafer for brutal legend i kind of find activision stupid

So you're fine with paying for the product, you just don't want to give your money to the people who made it? Activision is hardly less deserving than Gamestop.

Dude, you want the game, clearly it's worth buying.

Hrm. I'd be almost tempted to get COD4 now just to get ready for this. Are the COD4 expansion maps costable or they free for the PC market?

Free dude. Same goes for World at War.

No shit? .................................damn. I'll pass on WaW. But back to COD4 sounds like fun. Still can't believe it's still $40 though.

:lol This game's development cycle will have been like what, two years? On an already-existing, established engine with the first game as excellent framework? Do you think Infinity Ward is full of people sitting there drilling farts into their chairs while they watch YouTube videos all day or something?

Man, I love the IW CoD season. Blitzkrieg marketing right before release that doesn't wear out its welcome followed by a rush of a game that for once I don't have to worry if my friends will get or not. Sure I'll be bored of it in a month or two, but it's all I'll be playing for a while for sure.
