Modern Warfare 3's public beta will first be available to PlayStation users.

That's according to an advert taken from Sony's Arabic's YouTube channel, which reportedly said that players can "play the demo first on PlayStation" "at least five days before any other platform".

As spotted and translated by Call of Duty specialist CharlieIntel - and as is usually the case these days - you'll only be able to participate in the first beta if you've pre-ordered the game first.

Drop the fucking cross gen trash already. Holy christ.

With MS buying them out this series will be cross gen for the entire generation. Switch too. Disgusting.
I am pretty positive this is the last cross gen CoD. Crossgen usually lasts for 3 years before getting ditched completely. And this November will be year 3.

And what's the benefit of it going next gen only?

So we get the same 15 years old game design except the graphics are slightly better and the game now has to render at 720p like all the other "amazing" next gen only games we got this year like Jedi Survivor and FFXVI?

They got the resources to make 2 versions but really, what "Next gen" aspect are we expecting from CoD anyway.
It will still be corridor shooting in campaign and your standard maps. This isn't Zelda.

I think the franchise is long overdue for some more open-ended level design with a mix of corridor shooting. Next gen hardware could allow them to make the levels much more open for exploration along with their usual scripted events.

A hub world would be interesting, where you could leave to go on missions without meeting a single loading screen as opposed to the standard load times and boring load screens. More immersive campaign playthrough without breaking the pace between missions.

Zombies maps could even use open-world maps or something of that nature with much more intricate level design and cool ass easter eggs.

This could've been story DLC.

Activision isn't even trying anymore and they're getting away with it.

MW2 is my most played COD in years but I'm not going for this. Give next-gen console owners the graphical fidelity we deserve.

I agree I am thinkin of skipping too. But to be fair this is gonna be like $40 apparently (just a rumor).

I have a feeling the campaign is gonna be retrofitted Spec Ops/Raid missions lol. And maybe 2 or 3 actual big budget cinematic true CoD missions.

$40 is a tall ask if it's the same game with just new story content and maps.

I mean MW2 season 6 is still a thing, right?

Havent heard anything about a season 6. Just season 5 reloaded comin next month. 2 or 3 new guns still comin
, probably a new 6v6 map, and a Lara Croft skin.

This, you guys are making it sound like next-gen is something more than shiny coat of paint.

Yeah, I'll be sitting this one out if that's the case. I want a whole new game.

Sadly, it will sell whatever the price and Activision will be vindicated.

Probaby won’t be buying it at least for a while. I’m going to be playing xdefiant as I had a blast with it during the beta and it scratched that shooter itch for me.

Infinite Warfare was exactly this though and people hated it

Name two BIG PS3 games released in 2016.
Good point.

We had Call of Duty Ghosts in 2013, which was on every platform including Wii U. By 2014, Activision had completely dumped the previous generation, even the mighty (and easily ported) Xbox 360.

Imagine that. Completely switching to the current generation within a year. What happened this time around?

PS: lol at them calling an open beta a “demo”.

We had the pandemic + console shortage, higher price points and inflation’s set in.

One year cross gen period wouldn’t have made sense for this gen

I am probably alone with this, given the sales numbers, but holy shit is Modern Warfare the most boring setting ever conceived.

I don't bother with CoD at all. BF2042 is just so good right now. But it's that i've always been more in these large scale battles then what CoD has to offer. Yes there is Warzone, bit the focus is still fps combat.
