multiple skus? they are tying it to the disc. they just need something else digital to determine whose eligible to download mwr. doubt mwr is even on the disc or that the content of the disc is even separate from the base version.

Just think of it like this, they're bundling Infinity Warfare as an add-on for the remaster.

This was obvious but it's still hilarious. I know it can be considered popular to hate on CoD but I honestly have no interest in Infinite Warfare and I'm definitely not paying $80 for a remaster.

Wasn't Extraction installed from the disc though? Used copies of that very still late you play Extraction.
Other thing that comes to mind is EA bundling the first Alice as a download with new copies of Alice: Madness Returns buto requiring the disc to play. EA eventually made all their online passes free including this download.
Also Tekken Hybrid installed the demo and the Tekken Tag Tournament 2 HD separately and you launched them separately but you still needed disc.

Its no more anti-consumer than requiring the disk to play Infinite Warfare.
If you have no interest in IW just wait until they eventually sell the remaster as a standalone product. Bonus: You'll save money that way too.

Yeah I want the conveinence of not having to stick the disc in, but I really wanted to use my 20% prime discount to get this for like $62 dollars or whatever....
I guess after tax its like $68 so its only a $12 difference...I guess I'll be going digital for the convenience though. Getting the campaign early is a plus too I suppose

It was assumed it was going to be this way but now we have confirmation... Whatever, less money I have to spend then, i'll wait for standalone version later on.
Yup and the thing is IW would sale about 10 mil even if they sold MWR as stand alone and MWR would sell about 3-5 mil. but they are holding it behind a $80 game smh
What if Nintendo locked TPHD behind Zelda BotW and charged $80 for that version

Except that MW:R is a digital download that comes with the Legacy edition, but you need the IW disc to launch it.

It is pretty anti-consumer because it's still tied to a one time digital download.
They could've tied it to a disk and prevent people from getting the game separately without using a one time digital code.
Yep they will sell it at full $60 price, and say those who brought the $80 or more versions of IW that came with MWR got it at a discount and try to look like the good guys

As "slippery slope"-ish as this is, I can totally see publishers doing something like that now, because of this. If Infinite Warfare is a hit (and it's probably going to do at least decently), other publishers will see this business model as successful as well, and then this shit will become the new normal, just as much as ripoff season passes were before it.

Doesnt bother me since I want both infinite + modern warfare anyway but yeah this sucks for those who only want MW. Just wait for the inevitable standalone version. Stop acting like it will never happen.
