I love this song and video sooooooo much. The art and ideas are so fun and pointed.
sure, maybe the lyrics aren't quite as profound as on previous albums, but I find the music itself to be way betterYeah we were dead isn't as bad as people say. March into the sea is an incredible track. And little motel, while a little cheesy and slightly immature, is a beautiful song with some great imagery in the lyrics.

musically much more listenable anyway, for my moneyI wouldn't say way better but it was definitely musically really good.
I LOVE Moon and Antartica (favorite songs are "doing the cockroach" and "I came as a rat")
I really like Lonesome Crowded West and Good News
None of the other stuff is bad.
I feel a little weird that I kinda' lost interest in these guys, because I generally like them.
Love Modest Mouse...
Controversial statement ahead!
The Moon and Antarctica = overrated and one of their weaker albums as a whole
That's one of my favorite songs from that album; they don't jam nearly as much as they could.I keep editing this post as I think about the band more. I'm reminded of how brilliant their music is and how much I appreciate their albums.
The heavy breathing in the song fascinates me. Exit Does Not Exist
Long Drive . . . is my favorite album of theirs. <3
Is Johnny Marr even in the band anymore? It took me awhile to appreciate We Were Dead cause it sounded so homogenous at first due to Marr's inclusion, but it has some really clever songs. I loved the lyrics in Steam Ingenious and March Into the Sea
What are some of your guys favorite lyrics? Doing the cockroach is great as mentioned, some of my other favorites:
"The whitetrash boys listen to their headphones blasting white noise in the convenience store parking lot. I hung around there wasting my time hoping you'd stop by"
This line is just so amazingly evocative. It really is poetry. That whole song really. (Sleepwalking off of interstate 8).
All of Tundra/Desert.
"in this place that i call home
my brain's the cliff, and my heart's the bitter buffalo
my heart's the bitter buffalo
we tore one down, and erected another there
the match of the century: absence versus thin air
on the way to god don't know
my brain's the burger and my heart's the coal
on this life that we call home
the years go fast and the days go so slow"
From the song Heart Cooks Brain.

Well see what you want to see. You should see it all. What are some of your guys favorite lyrics?
No that's crazy! I used to love that site! Thank you for running it. It's just a super surprising coincidence. What, what? Yes, I used to run that site.
But if you don't know what it was, I already described it.
"Do you need a lot of what you've got to survive?"What are some of your guys favorite lyrics?

Definitely gonna crank up some MM this afternoon. Thanks for being my friends you guys.
I always have that in my mind."You're hopelessly hopeless I hope so, for you"
Nothing beats Heart Cooks Brain, Lonesome Crowded West has to be my favorite album.
Is this an old album?
Indeed it did.I think it came out in 1997
Because it's not. I don't know, personally, their newer stuff is mostly forgettable -- except for "The World At Large" which is beautiful. It sucks that they would get booed for that though. It's not something I would ever do.Also heard that the crowd at 9:30 Club in D.C. apparently booed them when they tried to play "Dashboard". I know a lot of their fans have a heavy preference for the older stuff, but I don't understand why they would refuse to accept any of the newer stuff. We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank is probably their best album, with Moon and Antarctica and Building Something Out of Nothing shortly behind.

"King Rat" is always mentioned, but it doesn't really do anything for me.
The EP is nice, but I don't think I would say it's better than their previous work.
Agreed on Lonesome Crowded West being their best, but I'd put Teeth Like God's Shoeshine or Cowboy Dan over Heart Cooks Brain.Nothing beats Heart Cooks Brain, Lonesome Crowded West has to be my favorite album.
