Do gamers win though? The VITA's power was something many Monhun fans were finally looking forward to. A reason for Capcom to bring the series into the current generation. Higher quality models, bigger levels, better hit detection, better physics... all things that seemingly would benefit from a substantially more powerful handheld.

I'm certain Monhun 4 will eventually find its way to Vita. But it's troubling if this version is being developed with the 3DS in mind.. of course Capcom will laugh all the way to the bank, as they can yet again use the same assets.

lol, not even hiding your sony-fanboyism. delicious is all I can say :)

But yes, *gamers* do win. You, not so much.

All you people screaming "vita is dead" are as stupid as the people quietly crying to themselves that the 4th game is on a dumb nintenfail 3ds.

Seems really bizarre the MH team has zero ambition to move past the PS2-era roots of the series
Uh, aside from the graphics/animations there are some HUGE alterations here. HE JUMPED ON THE RATHALOS!

MH4 is exclusive, because it has to be.

Capcom wants maximum milkage here so they'll want The "mainline" series to sell millions on 3DS while the "Portable" series to sell millions on PSP/Vita.

Would make a lot of business sense.

The question is if the market can handle 2 handhelds with the MonHun goodness.

Can't believe they really announced it already, damn Vita isn't looking too good but who knows, is this an exclusive?

no informations, we will know more tomorrow

but they called it never exclusive or something

It just blows my mind how just a few weeks ago 3DS was looking to be the biggest failure since the Virtual Boy and all of a sudden all the third parties finally jump on. Yeah, If 4 really is a 3DS exclusive I can't imagine any way for Vita to recover. Sony dropped the ball here on software which is really a shame because the hardware is near impeccable.

wut. Who screwed who over? You might want to make that clear.

Also, Square doesn't make Monster Hunter.

Is this BurntPork?

It's a joke, infamous meme spawned by MS announcing FFXIII back at E3 09.

Capcom just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Monster Hunter 4 for 3DS, nor will they purchase any of Capcom's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Capcom has alienated an entire market with this move.

Square, publicly apologize and cancel MH4 for 3DS or you can kiss your business goodbye.

This gotta be one of the funniest posts ever

Future 3DS+Vita owners, let's hold hands. And smile.

There really should be a mandatory GAF memes thread that juniors have to read before posting or something. :lol

Maybe they'll change the Portable series to the "Vita" series. Monster Hunter Vita. MHV has a nice ring to it.

I'm inclined to believe this is accurate but not because of your business reasoning. I truly believe Nintendo has laid down some cash for this one.

Why write that off as fanboyism? The PSV is technologically superior, a game developed for it can be richer in a number of areas.

I'm almost certain that that is definitely part of the problem. But as someone I've been talking to mentioned, this type of attitude will make the "bubble burst" quicker so to speak.

Just saying.

Whoops, got all AceBandage there for a second.
Jeez, calm down Vita fans (not just you, everybody really). People are just, for the most part, saying it's a huge megaton type deal that it's confirmed for 3DS. Even if it's multiplatform, or even if Sony get their own different MH, it's still a big blow to Sony compared to how things were before and at least shows that TriG isn't all that's planned for 3DS in favor of giving future support just to Sony, even for a while. That is all. And it's all true. Apart from the Vita is dead shit of course, those are as bad as this.

Edit: even if this one was a joke there are plenty people with the same attitude who are serious in this thread so whatever.

There was a rumor that was being said possibly for TriG that there would be a Wii U link to a Monster Hunter Game. I suspect if there is a Wii U game made its tied to MH4

ball now firmly in Vita/Sony's court - guess we have to see what they bring to the table and whether they show it at TGS.

If MH4 is exclusive and there's no significant Mohan announced then it's an amazing move.

I already stated i thought MH3G wasn't as big as people though, but MH4 if exclusive is nuking from orbit, then nuking the nuke site again... and again...

I really agree and I'm starting to think this is the problem with this industry.

The next main line Mario? On a hand held, and it's obviously getting dumbed down for the imbeciles who use handhelds. It looks like a 3D version of the shitty 2D games.

Uncharted? OK, at least this time the graphics don't look like a PS1 game, but they had to go and shit all over it by climbing with your fingers on a touch screen. Keep this bullshit on Nintendo consoles and wanna-bes (cough*iPads*cough)

COME ON Japan!
This is not what i'm saying, so don't put words in mouths.

Mario 3d Land is not the next main line Mario, it's looking awesome, blah blah.
Uncharted, well, it's like God of War on PSP: they still make new GoW / Unch games for the Ps3.

MH 4 is the next main line MH. with shitty graphics, 3DS online, 3DS controls, etc.

MH 4 gameplay looked cool: the platforming had me.
I just don't want it here.
Wowza, don't ban me for not wanting a home console game on a portable, GAF!

Monster-Hunter-3-on-Wii-instead-of-PS3 reaction flashbacks right there.

Wait - why are a bunch of non-Japanese people going apeshit for a ho-hum franchise outside of Japan?
...

Some people actually want to play this game on the 3DS (they already own). It was pretty much the only game I actually played on the PSP.

Something is amazingly wrong with Vita mindsetted people. Right now it's: want MonHun? Get a 3DS.

Since that post seemed to go directly over your head:

I am not sure it 100% matters if the Vita gets one unless it's day and date, announced well before MH4 ever hits the market, and is so superior that it basically renders the 3DS game unusable. And honestly, if any of that were the case (not saying it specifically can not become the case), there would have been no point in announcing it the way they did.

I mean, if it gets it, great. More games for more systems. But after the initial emotion wears off from this, neither system is going to die because of it. Whether the Vita gets MH4, or MH4 G, or MH Portable 4th based on MH4, or none of the above, the PSP built up enough of a name off MH that it does not really need it to survive.

What this accomplishes for Nintendo, more than any stab at the competition, is that it basically ensures the 3DS is not going to die a horrible death at the hands of third-party starvation. The system's getting goddamn MH4, that's a huge install base addition right there. Iwata said at the end of the conference that Nintendo is working hard to make the 3DS the true successor to the DS and they basically just put the best possible weapon in their holster.

But I am don't expect anyone to listen to this because emotions are still running pretty high, so

tl;dr: Nothing is dead, this can only be good for everyone, maybe we'll get a repeat of the DS with 3DS software and look back at now five years later in some sort of haze.

Did dragon quest give you an ulcer?

I don't get why people are so excited over this given Capcom is incredibly slow if not outright reluctant to release MonHun games outside of Japan and the 3DS is region locked. You can't import the game and play it, so you'll have to buy a Japanese 3DS or jailbreak your non-Japanese 3DS if you want to play these games in a timely manner.
