We really dont know. Capcom talks strongly about multiplatforming the franchise. That would make more sense then multiplatforming a specific game. Give each handheld its own version
Right, that's what I thought, so what's with all this "Vita DOA" nonsense I'm reading on the first page if it gets the same game and looks/plays better?

It's Capcom

If they can port it, they will

But no one knows for sure yet what the details are. If Sony doesn't show Vita footage of this game tomorrow, whether it does eventually come to Vita or not, it will be hard to unring that bell.

If they don't, I think it would be pretty safe to assume the same situation that happened with tri and PS3/Wii

Even if MH4 ends up being announced tomorrow for Vita, I don't think it will resonate as powerfully. They might not even play any videos since Nintendo beat them to punch, just like how Microsoft and Sony used to play.

Someone should remind me again why Nintendo scheduled their conference a month earlier? lol.

At least initially pending any announcements 3DS is the home to the next new Portable game in Tri G which is exclusive and then the next Main game being 4. Sony has to have its hands on 4 as much as Nintendo does or there is serious issues

Because PSP was revived thnaks to MonHun. If Vita finds itself in the same situation, a slight preference of the stick vs the touch screen (not to mention the optional stick and extra shoulder buttons replicating the home controls) isn't gonna cut it in the same way MonHun vs No-MonHun-at-all did, as feverishly as some people here want to claim this.

And no, I'm not saying Vita is doa or anything of the sort myself, but people acting like 2 announced NEW MonHun 3DS games, one of which is coming this year, are just about non news because MonHun is likely to come to Vita also and they totally love the higher res OLED they've not even seen and totally don't care about 3D and totally don't care about all the other 3DS games on top of MonHun, are being about as silly as the people they're supposedly arguing against...

Rewatching the trailer, that does actually look awful graphically.

But it was clearly more of an intention of direction for the series rather than a showcase of polish.

It will end up looking better than that, obviously. Curious to see just how much better.

Watching the trailer and having played monster hunter freedom unite, that seemed more like an uncharted-ization

I wonder how MHP3HD will be introduced at this point. If they don't have a better context other than "Here is the same MHP3 again," I doubt they'll give it much exposure during the conference. At least I don't think it should without being complimented with at least some sort of a vague road map.

Just like I said in the previous page, it really looks like uncharted. I'm very curious to see what they actually do with it.

Maybe MHP3rdHD comes free with the system? That would be a megaton.

I don't see anything that would stop him from stopping to fight them wherever he wanted (as long as it had enough space and wasn't a breakable platform itself), they just wanted to show off the more interactive, seamless environments and character agility I think....

And yeah, early stuff folks, the environment looks worse than TriG and the Tigrex look like PSP yet the Rathalos like Tri. Tri G is the new game you can expect in the coming months/year depending on region, 4 is way off it seems, as should be expected.

Again, I'm basing this off that the video was just a showcase and not to show how the game will actually play. The problem here is not that it doesn't look like he can stop and fight, it's that it will be pointless, considering the platforms he's fighting on is being destroyed constantly. Which kinda forces the player to move on to the next 'segment'.

I don't really connect the 'cinematic' style with the Western audience, but you might be right. It looks pretty much like Dragon's Dogma to me.

For some reason I do. I guess it's more to do with the PR of each and every game promising some form of cinematic success. Or that franchise's core values are changed to cater for a more cinematic approach (like splinter cell/ hitman and etc).

I liked what I saw, and reading this thread now after getting up is just the cherry on the cake. So many tears. Oh and the Square meme on page 1 was just perfect, especially since it left Square in the meme instead of changing that to Capcom.

The new gameplay features looked awesome. If they can implement that kind of running jumping and climbing into the MP, then I can't even begin to think how awesome and epic some of the higher Rank Monster fights are going to be.

Anyway, I guess I will definetly need a battery extension for my 3DS with so much Monster Hunting coming up, even if we in Europe might have to wait quite a bit to get even one of those titles.

I don't believe Tri G is a massive deal for deterring fans, but knowing MH4 is coming anyway, I believe is. Now it's not a case of taking a punt on a 3DS not knowing the future of the series will be on 3DS, now they can buy a 3DS with Tri G knowing they're safe with MH4 (at least assuming it doesn't get canned like MH3 PS3).

I don't think the one announcement was a huge deal, but the combination of the two certainly is.

Well its gonna happen sooner or later. The last line in the capcom press release reads like they're saying "don't worry Sony fans, you'll get this game too".

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it does. Capcom is the most charitable pub in the market, imo.

The big platform breaking was a surprise, but the small ones, I wouldn't fight a monster in such a narrow space even if they didn't break apart really, and just lure it away. Still, the video started at a much more open area on ground level, he could have fought the tigrex there instead of run. Also, such interactivity and changing layout should make things like the egg hunts a little more exciting. More than passages blocked off by stupid huge boulders at least.

You are right the combo of announcements is much stronger. It offers stability for people to make the jump for TriG. It says its not just a one off experiment there is another coming

Thats exactly what it is. its the equivalent to the Pica chip in the 3DS as far as function
"Media Engine" is the marketing name for one R4000 core (333mhz), a H264 decoder, the audio block and 2MB of embeded memory.

Kinda like how "Emotion Engine" was R5900 + Dual VU + MPEG2 decoder.

Maybe the monsters start into rage-mode as soon as they spot you so that the player can't just fight them where he meets them first.

Stock don't raise when nobody knows a good thing is coming lol, the stockholders know as much as we do.

Huh? You could fight them in rage mode...

Because prior to this announcement, most people expected MH4 to be a Vita-title, while 3DS would get at most 3G, aka, rehash of old stuff. Now, Vita will get at best the same game that´ll be released for 3DS (maybe slightly expanded), but it´s not as if 3DS is getting shafted by Capcom.

So, yeah, the situation was shifted in Nintendo´s favor with that announcement.

Thanks, seems like the moment everyone on GAF went crazy in the thread was when Iwata asked the producer if he had a final message for everyone at the conference as well as all fans watching the conference over the internet at home. Lol.

Ahh bollocks!

I take it that means that we're not getting online play then? (they would've surely announced it by now)

This is bullshit! All of Capcom's other 3DS games released so far have online play, there's no excuse (oh and the ability for developers to have paid DLC/paid online play will be available by the time Tri G gets released so that's not an excuse either)

And I'm hoping this is the case. Again I refer back to what I said that I hope this is just a showcase. I honestly love MH and I would much rather prefer to duke it out on the open area at which the video started at. I honestly just don't hope that you are forced to go through that whole sequence (unless it's like the first time the monster is revealed or something).

Agreed on the egg hunt, although would be a bitch to have to carry it back with the agile likes of that tigerex.

My guess is it's because they want to do online with fees like they do it for other MonHuns in Japan which maybe they feel isn't ideal for handhelds. Hopefully we get some additions in the localizations. Fat chance but TvC got that, and Tri had been reworked in ways too so... Crossing fingers.

I have no doubt that 4, or 4 Portable will be announced at TGS at this stage. Like you said, Capcom havent denied it in any shape or form.

And the dev tools necessary to do that would've been ready in time. So they could've charged for online play if they wanted to!

Maybe they just didn't get enough Tri Wii subscribers to think that it was worth including?

It's over, period. Sony lost their last ace, and that's the end of their VITA hopes and dreams.

It's not hyperbole, it's not fanboy drivel. It is LITERALLY it for VITA. Sony has nothing left, nothing they can reveal tomorrow would fix the hole now created. There is no reason left for any one, hardcore or casual, to substantively invest in a VITA. Except if they want to play COD. Which will also come to 3DS at some point.

The age of Sony is done.

I want this to become a new "Square just shot themselves in the foot" meme.

What if they release MH4 on Vita?

LOL

Fans ask for Dead Rising port for PS3 -> Make port for Wii.
Announce Resident Evil Portable for PSP -> Release it for 3DS.
Sell millions of Monster Hunter for PSP -> Release sequel for Wii.
Show Monster Hunter Portable 3 PSP emulation -> Release Monster Hunter 4 for 3DS.

Capcom really loves to troll playstation owners.

Well, it cancels out by Konami trolling Nintendo owners.

Wow. You know, they should just cancel the Vita and redo it like they should have with the PS3, right?

Now get up to see the madness on gaf .
Nintendo getting MH4 is really good for them and will really hurt Vita if Sony does not get a version also .

What would make things fun to see is if both platforms get it at the same time which version fans would buy .

One of the things I wanted from a new Monster Hunter was more mobility for your character. Also having larger scale arenas to battle in is always cool, plus seeing some destruction of scenery. Trailer looks cool but I am a little down that 3DS is getting 2 MH games. Was hoping to see something new for PS3/360.

Monster hunter being exclusive is much more important to vita/ psp than it ever was to nintendos systems. Especially if the 3DS version releases earlier by any significant period of time.

PSP was pretty much made by this game, if the userbase is split, and the games aren't as big hits on the vita what else is going to drive hardware and as a result, software? Perhaps Tales, but thats to a significantly smaller degree.

Vita likely won't get a numbered final fantasy/ would share it with ps3/ ps4, Dragon Quest is pretty much nintendo exclusive, sony's first parties don't really have the ip's to light japan up... Monster hunter is really the only thing they had to compare to franchises the size of pokemon, mario, mario kart, dragon quest, animal crossing, and smash brothers.

Vita also no longer has the advantage of being the only handheld to get games like tekken, musou, metal gear, things that differenciated PSP from DS and fed off of the monster hunter install base.

Hopefully Vita has a hell of a TGS, because things aren't realy looking too pretty for it.

Watching again the concept trailer, I thought how awesome would be combining Monster Hunter with Minecraft. I think I wouldn't need t play any other game in my life.

You forgot Devil May Cry PSP...

My guess is that it'll most likely be released exclusively on the WiiU and 3DS with a "HD" port of the 3DS version put on the vita.
