I still think it will come to Vita eventually, but I was so sure a Vita version of MH4 would be announced today. Not even the MHP3rdHD port showed up.

I think there was like 7 seconds of footage of MHP3rdHD when they first started talking about VITA.

Anywho, as for this game.
... English, we need ENGLISH Version!

"Remember MML3? The promise you guys made. Yeah."
"We'll get started on MH3G, and we'll throw in MH4."
"That's what I thought."
I envision something more like this:
"What will you give us?"
"We will market local multiplayer for you so hard that it won't need online multiplayer."
"Awesome. Done."

That wasn't MHP3rdHD. That was just the regular PSP MHP3rd with dual analog controls that was confirmed months ago.

It's possible. But I get the feeling Nintendo may have locked this down, simply by promising to push it big time in the USA.

seriously - Nintendo/Capcom (?) on their game , not sure what Sony is doing. If this was the big Vita push then ....

Don't think it is (their big push); Vita is coming so late it's practically a token 2011 release.

Best to see it as a 2012 platform with a 2011 preview release.

"Why should we put MH4 on the 3DS?"
"You're the guys that made over a dozen Mega Man games using the exact same sprites. You tell me."
"... done"

looking nice, I wonder if we can change the size of each button (big d-pad, small map, for example)

good luck using a bow

Can you move and shoot in the old games? I never used ranged so i dont remember. If so, cant you just hold a button down and use the circle pad?

for quick shooting you just move around with a charged attack (holding triangle) and let go, but sometimes you need to aim higher or do other ajustments depending on shot type, or aim the the body/head/leg - for that you use the D-pad while holding R and Triangle.

In this, you could probably use that new monster cam lockon and look straight at it, then use up/down to adjust the angle.

That was my guess too. If swimming is in, then I'm sure Capcom has figured out some acceptable way to aim well.

I wonder if Nintendo will devise a special-purpose money hat to get Tri-G online play for the US/EU... Lack of it would really, really hurt over here.

The first part isn't the problem, you use both nub and d-pad to move and look at the monster (or click L) just like any other weapon, but then I don't see how you can hold X, R and aim with the D-pad in a quick and efficient manner. Only if you let go of the nub, use the d-pad, and nub again with your left thumb (ingoring the digital d-pad completely) - I always used the claw but this can work, you lose mobility though

Just woke up and saw the Sony conference news. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!

So much for me being full of it! (believe it or not, but I do think before I speak here. It's not fanboy drivel, like what so many thought it was)

Edit: WOW! No Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD Vita was announced?!?!?! Of all the games to be wrong in that rumour list...

I played a demo. I thought the controls sucked on the PSP but yeah I probably just could not adapt to it.
The basic movement/attacking controls are a little odd, but not excessively hard to work with - Maybe an hour or two.
The trickier part is using an index finger to manipulate the d-pad and thus the camera, a technique also known as...

So far Capcom says they have no plans for Monster Hunter Tri G in the West, and given that they never localized Monster Hunter 3 or Ace Attorney Investigations 2, I honestly have no reason to not believe them.

If they don't plan to localize that game, I doubt they plan to localize Monster Hunter 4 either.

For those wondering, yes, it is real.

For your second question, no, there are no plans to bring it to the West for now.

Nintendo seems to be following suit. NoE put out a release list that includes the just announced Mario Tennis, but lacks Fire Emblem, Girl's Mode, or Friend Collection.

I would say the biggest incentive to just drop Vita development is that it simply costs too much to make a high end game on the system for most developers. Even on the 3DS, most of the Japanese titles look sub par relative to the capabilities of the system.

The Yen is very strong right now, and with handheld software sales for all three platforms in the garbage in the West for all but the biggest Nintendo titles, it makes far more sense these days to just budget for and target your own market. If you want, you can let a small outfit like XSeed or Aksys localize your games with no risk.

Well, I too assumed Sony would have something to counter it. But now maybe I'm starting to believe Nintendo have actually locked it down for now.

Huge get if so, perhaps Capcom really were happy/impressed with the effort and help Nintendo put into MH3 on Wii outside of JPN, so the chance to grow on that with new titles was tasty. They know it'll sell amazing in JPN no matter what, so why not get those sales AND possible $$$ from overseas too.

If so, good job Nintendo. Also because of that, like what we've seen with the similar DQ efforts WE (outside JPN) get the added bonus of it coming out in our countries cause Nintendo (probably) promised lol, suck on that Reggie! :D

*hopes too much?*

@Nirolak: I really, really hope that's a generic comment similar to what Atlus said about Catherine. I can see them skipping Tri-G, but MH4 would be passing up a pretty big opportunity to capitalize on the slide pad dongle getting localized...

I personally don't believe that Capcom would have thrown so much MH weight behind Nintendo if there were no intentions to bring it to America after Tri did well.

The quote also comes from a Community Manager in a thread on the day the game leaked in Famitsu.

And localising, or helping to localise, series like DQ or MH isn't necessarily about them making a solid business case in the West. It's as much about helping to promote them in other markets as a means of securing exclusivity of those titles in Japan.

A few seconds was shown in that vita reel earlier but i was never elaborated on (Vita version or emulated PSP version?)

Capcom wasn't happy with Monster Hunter Tri's sales in the West.

From their fiscal release:

Capcom said:
a. In this business segment, "Super Street Fighter IV" (for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) and the online exclusive title "Monster Hunter Frontier Online" (for PC, Xbox 360) showed steady growth. However, overall sales remained stagnant due to weak performances of some titles: "Lost Planet 2" (for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360), one of our featured products, underperformed its projection substantially; "Monster Hunter Tri" (for Wii) grew at sluggish pace; newly-released "Ghost Trick" (for Nintendo DS) struggled.

Did they even need to? The dual analog stick attachment seems to be the way they're addressing Capcom's needs.

It's not like Capcom or any of the other publishers are falling over themselves to make major Vita games.

If Capcom dont intend to bring the series over to the English world, hopefully Nintendo do the publishing themselves.

Definitely cause for concern, though I wouldn't give up all hope for the series in the West. I mean, they ran MHP3rd HD by Sony but got stopped by Adhoc Party shenanigans, so I don't think they've completely forgotten about it...

Oh shit, that is a real possibility, isn't it? Isn't that what they did with Tri in Australia? (Or at least a co-publishing of some kind?)
